12/09/06 Geeks.... Lost, but not forgotten

OK, has everybody just been busy the last few days, or what?

This time of year is especially hectic for me. :surfweb:Meetings all over and tax prep for everyone in our division. :sad2:

Let us know what you think of the bacon/lettuce/tomato PJ. It does seem like steep points to stay there though . . .

Just tonight I was looking at BLT for our Thanksgiving visit .... probably going back to OKW! I will say that it is very tempting for a MK view though

I don't know when I will be able to get to Raleigh but I hope to before the fall. :laundy:

Interesting how close she ended up being to your other family down here. You will only be 2 hours away from us!!!!

Lisa - Great Job with the lifestyle change!!!!

I have been VERY BUSY!!! I am playing in the pit for "Guys and Dolls." It has been a lot of fun, but many long hours and late nights. Tonight is the final show. :goodvibes

Then life should get a bit more "normal."

I need big time P&PD that WDW will be able to reinstate our photopass pics when I call them at 9 am tomorrow when they open. I thought they expired on 4/4 but it was 4/2 and when I went in tonight to finish up the edits and get the prepaid CD they were gone. I feel sick. :(

That sounds like a whole lot of work Brandi!!! Good luck readjusting to normal again tomorrow. :)

Good work, Lisa. :cheer2: Dennis and I have been using our WiiFit sporatically. (sp??) He has lost about 10 lbs, me just about 3. But with all that southern fried food we had last month at least we did not gain. We will get serious when we get home, which should be tomorrow. :thumbsup2We are looking forward to getting home. We will have been gone just 10 days shy of 5 months. We wanted to be home last weekend, but sat out snow storm after snow storm in SE Idaho at the home of very dear friends. We did enjoy our 10 days here.

Ok everybody . . . Geek talk, so non-gadget geeks beware!

I have to tell you guys about my latest gadget that I just love - my Kindle.

If any of you are readers - and I mean more than just a book or two a year, it is well worth it.

The Kindle is an electronic book reader from Amazon.com, and they have over 250,000 books you can buy. You buy them right on the device, wirelessly - there is no monthly charge, and the books are delivered right to your Kindle within a minute. While it is a bit pricey at around $350, you buy Best Sellers for $9.99, and other books for less. It can store up to 1,500 books that you can carry around with you all the time!

Amy and I read a lot, so we got them for each other as an early anniversary present when the new model of the kindle came out.

Seeing that we are Geeks, I just had to share.

One thing . . . the "cover" you can buy for it from Amazon is just a plain black cover, and we carry these things around with us just about everywhere now - like going to dinner, etc.. I told Amy we look like we are going to be knocking on doors witnessing.

Just trying to "catch up!"

DD reads all the time and I was thinking of getting her one. I mentioned it to her and she gave me a weird look.:confused3 It would be nice to be able to try it out first.

Raleigh is my hometown and where we grew up. Annette's family is from the Durham area and is who we visit now. My sister has lived from the coast to Raleigh during this time and just recently choose to move back.

We will be closer than 2 hours in June when we drive down I 95 towards WDW for a few days. :woohoo:

You can go to Target or Borders and see the Sony e-reader, which is the same technology, only maybe a bit cooler looking - so beware of that. However, the Sony has to be hooked up to a computer to get a book. My Kindle can get a book anywhere there is Sprint EVDO all by itself.

Go to:

You are welcome to stay here if you want to break up the trip over a couple days either way to WDW. :)

Well, the weekend is about over.

I worked both days, but got to fit in some other things along the way.

Yesterday, Sophia and I went to "Art is Alive", a local art festival here at our Cultural Center where local artists sell their work. She picked up a couple of pieces of Jewelry - one, a bracelet made from old silver spoons, and another a pendant made from a small domino painted on one side. Unique cool stuff.

Then we went to see the exhibit at the museum - Kimono as Art. Only showing in two places in the US - Canton, and San Diego - go figure. Actually, a wealthy local businessman had a hand in bringing it here. While they were quite beautiful and I can appreciate the craftsmanship - not quite my cup of tea.

Today, since the sun was shining, it was yardwork after work (the first cut of the season) and power washing outdoor furniture. Then a quick bike ride after dinner.

I'm bushed!

We got home a bit after 5 pm yesterday. The house is still standing and everything seems in order. No yardwork here yet, the lawn is still brown from the recent snow. The folks should be out to feed the lawn and turn the sprinklers back on in a couple of weeks. It is nice to be home,:goodvibes but we are already missing the RV and the road. Our next trip will be a week in early July to the Oregon coast.

Welcome home, Angie and Dennis!

It is snowing here, and is just 34 degrees, yuck!!!!!! I had on capris last week, this is just wrong, lol.

We've had a very uneventful weekend which has been nice. Church today was very good and we enjoyed it alot.

There's a lot going on in the next few weeks and some could be stressful. :scared: I know things are going to be fine though.

We are looking forward to a few days at WDW in June. :woohoo:
