12/09/06 Geeks.... Lost, but not forgotten

Brandi, I can't believe how your children have grown! :lovestruc Has it been that long?

It is sad but true...they grow so darn fast! And yes it has been that long...too long if you ask me!!!!!!

Any word on your house yet? Ours is in escrow, BUT I don't have a good feeling and think the buyer might back out. :headache: We will see in a week. This is not fun. :sad2:

:confused3

Brandi, I think delivery for the 1st ship should be in 2011 and the second is 2012. Here's to a geek reunion in 11/12!

Our goal is to sail on the first cruise of one of the new ships. :thumbsup2 In the Navy they call you a "Plank Owner" when you are part of the first cruise. pirate:

Yes it has been too long ... but the really great thing is that I still think about that cruise almost everyday. :grouphug: The photos of us all come up on my screensaver often. :surfweb:

That was the best vacation I have ever had!

So far I have downloaded the following free apps:

remote
Phonesaber
iPint
Jott
iMaze
Aurora Feint The Beginning

I purchased:

Super Monkey Ball
Attaining Zen

I have only had time to use phone saber (during a conference call) and iPint (same conference call). What more can you do but pretend to be a jedi and then drink a brew during work hours. :rotfl:

I wonder if there is a certificate for that, hmmmm. Might be a goal to aim for, lol.

Carla, being only a touch owner I have downloaded remote and type-pad, might do a blog on my next vaca, who knows. I might also download the iMilk, think it would be fun for this lactose-intolerant person.

Finally got a new cell phone recently. :3dglasses We changed to Sprint and I got an htc Touch phone. I'm fairly tech savvy but this is a complicated phone. :confused3 I have made new ringtones for different people which are mostly Disney based music. :surfweb:

By the end of the month, Amy and Alex will have 3g iphones, and so will my brother. My phone is a work phone, so I am stuck with a Blackberry. We are switching from Sprint, and our contract runs through the end of this month - therefore the wait.

It will just be Sophia and me in our family without iPhones . . .:(

I wonder how long I will last with iPhone envy before I start carrying a second phone???????

I need to go and check out the App store . . .

I'm sorry but I still don't get the whole iPhone craze... I have Sprint and a Treo and I get along just fine with it. Maybe it's just because I don't know what I'm missing, lol.

Hey John - I got the 28-135 IS lens for my 40D. I should have just gotten it along with the body but I didn't... then I started thinking I'm going to need a general purpose walkaround lens for vacation and I mainly use my 28-75 for portraiture so I caved... hehe. Love it so far... I'm not sure what's next on my list. I need a wide angle for indoor shots this winter... I heard the Tokina 17-50 was good, and I've also seen some amazing shots with a fisheye.

I have totally outgrown my Crumpler. I was going to get a 7MDH but it's not quite as useful for schlepping on shoots, so I got a Slingshot instead. I'll probably still travel with my Crumpler, though.

Have y'all seen the custom made camera straps available on Etsy? Someone is selling a Mickey Mouse one.

How's everyone else doing? We are living under a thick blanket of smoke here and it stinks (literally). Been a hard summer vacation for the kids, not to be able to run outside and swim and stuff because there are actually particles in the air!

Joy, hi, great website, I pop on every once in a while and check out what you have been shooting. iPhone thing I don't get as much either, since service fees are sky high up here, but if I could get internet, my ipod and my cell phone in one item and my contract was up for renewal, I would look at it since I am a mac user. I do have the touch and love it for quick surfing, movies and music. I have even put a request in for a bowler score journal app, to track my bowling scores, one of the developers is working on it now.

OK no-one is to show that Esty website to V, she would have a cow, lol.

Joy,

Your work is beautiful. I never thought to look until I saw PJ's post. You have a great eye for portraiture. I LOVE my 40-D. I wish I had more time to shoot . . .

I have to share one of my favorite photos from the cruise . . . I had Sophia and Savannah up on deck 10 at the front of the ship with all the ocean breeze. Lots of silly poses, but I loved this one the best.

As to the iPhone. Just ignore me. I am an Apple fan, and a gadget freak, so I am hopeless.

I want to be a plank owner! :yay:

John1, love the photo!

Joy, I think that is the lense DrHug has and loves. But not being a camera techie, I'm not certain.

Well, Angie talked me into sharing another photo . . . the girls were so much fun to take pictures of . . . this one at sunset.

I'm starting to think maybe I will try doing what Joy is doing here to support my technology and camera habit.

Here's one of all four girls at animators . . .

OOOHHH MYYYYY the pics of the girls are beautiful! I can't believe how big they're getting!
