12/09/06 Geeks.... Lost, but not forgotten

I am having a dinner party tomorrow night. It is a Disney dinner party....I wish you guys could come! We get together with 2 other couples every other week or so..normally the host makes the entree and the others bring dessert/apps. Anyway....I told them to come empty handed.

Here is the menu:

Apps.
BLT soup - Sci-Fi
Chicken Corn Chowder - Boma

Entree.
Mom's Meatloaf - 50 prime time cafe

Sides.
Fufu - Boma (a potatoe dish)
Garlic Buttered Broccoli - Chef Mickey's
Parmesan Potatoes - Chef Mickey's

Dessert -
Coconut Flan - Crystal Palace
(I am also making brownies for brownie sundaes for the kids)

Drinks -
Jungle Juice - Boma (for the kids)
Mudslide Martini - Victoria Falls Lunge AKL
Rockey Mountain Mudslide - Coral Reef


I really wanted to make Triple Chocolate Moose Stampede from Whispering Canyon Cafe...but the ingredients were seriously too expensive!! The cake would have cost me close to $20. It required 4 cups of heavy whipping cream and 2.5 cups of bittersweet chocolate. Those two ingredients alone were $10!!!!!

My kids keep watching the Disney vacation planning video. They actually said "we never get to go there." WHAT....we were there 3 times last year on that annual pass!!!!

although, we won't be back until next summer....it is too long!!!!

They are coming for 5 - 5:30!!! The men will generally eat anything. The 2 women are totally into cooking! They will appreciate the meal...but none of them will appreciate the DISNEY aspect of the meal. Other than my husband and I! I have been wanting to do this....and it is a lot of cooking just for my family....that is why I turned it into a little party.

Lisa - How many pages scrapbooking...??

Work is crazy so I've decided to entertain myself and go places this summer. What are frequent flyer etc for if you don't use them. Last weekend we were in Chicago. We loved the Kit movie. I must admit I think I am more obsessed with the whole American Girl thing now - those accessories - way cool.

This weekend we are going to go see Mary Poppins in NYC. I picked up the Broadway soundtrack this evening. Again I think I am more excited than the kid.

I plan these things around the weekend because heaven forbid we should miss a day of camp. No way can that occur! At least we know where we stand with our kid.

I am creating a list I think of what I want to during my non-summer vacation. Of course I had to control myself this evening or rather at midnight because I wanted to go see Wanted at the movie theatre. I also did that Disneyshopping thing (stocked up on towels) for the first time this year actually and got two free tickets to see WallE. So many movies so little time.

My friend owns a time share - not disney. Anyway, my DH and I bought a week from her and she exchanged her place (Williamsburg, VA) for Disney HHI. Anyway, we are going from Dec. 27 - Jan 3. What kind of activities will they have for the kids that week? I am very excited. I told Jason, we will end up DVC owners until it is all said and done! Have any of you ever stayed on Disney HHI property? Thanks!!!

Brandi - this is one we have not visited, but really want to. I have heard good things. I will try and get you some info when I get a chance. If you don't already have a current member as a DVC referral, feel free to use our name - we get awards for referrals!

We got an offer on the house yesterday that we accepted with just a couple of minor changes in our counter offer that do not involve money, so they likely will accept it. WOO HOO!!! Now the troubles....we would have to be out of the house in 3 1/2 weeks and one of those weeks we are traveling to MT and ID. Oh my!! Time to get those closets cleaned out and packed up I think! So, that means I can retire in 5 weeks and 2 days!!!

We've never stayed at HHI but the photos show a nice pool and beach access. The buildings look really nice.

The member gets a small reward for the referral and sometimes the new member will get some savings for being referred. Just depends on what promotion they have going on. Oregon does not allow us to accept the reward for referrals (THANK you Oregon!) so we give another Geeks name to potential new members that we have talked with.

hello everyone.................. I hope all is well...... When I see the DISgeek thread I always think of my Shock that yes I really now have three children and that I survived my cruise pregnant! WELL come Nov 29th the Bahama Mamas will be mine! I have 17family members goin with me this time.... I know we want to go back in 2010 so I will be watchin for the dates you pick!!!!

Angie was correct Brandi. The rewards have gotten better though, and Ohio DOES let us participate. The first referral in a calendar year is $200. The second is $350. We already have one referral this year.

You should have come up!!! We ate most of the leftovers today! It all turned out really well. I actually just finished a piece of the coconut flan...that was my favorite part!

Do you get it if I become a DVC owner? That will not happen this trip. That will happen in the future but at this time we do not have the $$$$. 85% of our bills will be paid off in the 4-5 year range. We will become members then. When the big day arrives...we will use you John!!! I won't forget!
