I have some time left before Paul (fiance) comes home from his fishing trip. We are getting married on Deck 7. I don't think there is anything more romantic than being on the open ocean!

Paul and I took a cruise together last November, (Royal Caribbean Navigator) his first and my forth. Since he proposed to me in Disney World, October 1st of last year, I thought it would be fitting to have a disney wedding. My first choice was Disney World, he said no, so then I got creative and said "What about a disney cruise?" Hummmm...... That seemed to work. We both love cruising, I love disney......so we both won! Paul and I have been together for 3 years now, but have known each other for 10 years.

Paul's whole immdiate family is going, his parents, sister, brother. Both of my sisters are going, parents and brother wont be able to make it :guilty:

Neither of us wanted a traditional wedding, we are both very quiet and shy people. Plus, I LOVE to vacation, any excuse will work for me :goodvibes

I do have my dress, not sure how to post pictures, but it is a true princess dress with the princess tiara! My first fitting is in 3 weeks and my shoes should be here in 3 weeks. They better be there in time.

Well, hope I didn't bore anyone with all the details :teeth:

That sounds wonderful!! Sorry your whole family can't make it. :guilty: I am sure you will have plenty of pictures to show when you get back. :thumbsup2

You guys are all too sweet!! I got my baking done by 1030 last night. I've been at the church/school since 1130 this morning and just got home. I'm beyond exhaustion. We had about 400-500 people show up. Lots of food, drinks and punch. It was a raving success!

Great job Karen!! :thumbsup2 You pulled it off! :cheer2:

Hi Lisa!! Guess its just you and I.

Roll call time - how many families had pot roast in a crock pot this weekend?

ME!

Maybe I will ask for one for Christmas!!! :Pinkbounc

morning all!! Finally finished catching up from last night!

I started putting all the goodies in a box last night and well, I need a bigger box. It was stuffed!

NFL ticket is awesome, but it leads to us doing pretty much nothing on Sunday's...and now, I am like the Bucs 0-2. Had I started Rex though, I would have won. Seems to be pretty much luck with my team. (just not good luck)....at least the Gators won.

There was a note about Girl Scouts or the younger equivalent in DD's backpack but I decided against it. No way Iam going to be able to keep up and I just really hate the fundraising aspect of it all.

Carla, I wouldn't totally write off Girls Scouts. Yes, there are magazine/nut sales (which they only need to sell one to get a patch). and cookies sales but it is one of the best/safest activities my DD has been in since kindergarten. (This is her 9th year.) GS helps the girls develop leadership skills, take camping trips or just to do other activities in a non-competitive way. Dues are usually pretty cheap compared to other activities and my DD's troops have usually met every other week during school year. (less effort on my part.) Of course there was that one year that i volunteered as cookie mom. ;) but i'm glad i did it.

I have reached a new level of addiction....my DIS sickness is interfering with my real sickness.

I appear to be rapidly developing DD's cold (congestion, watery eyes, sore throat...) and a lovely sinus-y headache that goes with it. I woke up really early this morning just feeling miserable but I somehow got myself back to sleep. I felt too bad to get up and get medicine. I did get up to help DH get the kids ready but then I took some medicine and I need to go back to bed for a few hours. However, before I could do that I had to check in here....it couldn't wait. What is wrong with us? :sad2:

Oh Becka! Me too! I decided I was being wimpy and came to work but focusing on anything is so hard. My throat is killing me, sinuses ache and my head throbs...all of it makes me sick to my tummy. I want my mommy!

I hope you feel better. Dis-ing is about all I can do today. I know I should go home, but there is so much to do there, that I'm beter off staying here.

Totally, totally agree. DrHug and I were Girl Scout leaders for 5 years. Yep, he was a card carrying Girl Scout! :thumbsup2 It was so much easier to enlist the help of other dads having him a part of the troop. Our DS was born during our first year of scouting and he was our troop mascot as scouting was a family affair with us! :rotfl: He grew up being very comfortable around girls. It was a very rewarding experience for our girls and us as well. We still search out GS cookies every year and buy at least a dozen boxes. We had so much fun! We did not pressure parents to sell cookies, but we did tell them that we had many activities planned and they had the choice of paying for those activities or selling cookies. They sold LOTS of cookies! :teeth:

How about this,
We all wear our green shirts,
Make a tunnel from the Deck 7 sundeck to the reception area for the bridal party,
and slap the bride on the behind with a blow up banana as she passes by?

:thumbsup2

OMW Patsy!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: How much trouble (ie: fun) are we in for at 2nd seating!?!?! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Do you have allergies Becka? You sound like us and its ragweed season now.

We just got DS's Power Ranger costume in the mail. There are several pieces to it. There is the full padded bodysuit, cape, shoe covers, gloves and the helmet. It is quite the ensemble.

I got the red one for DS last year. He hasn't seen it yet. :) I might share it with him this year.
Pink ranger costume checking in. DD doesn't watch the show but they played it in Kindergarten.

ROFL! Yes....the one where you explained that you really wanted to join us for the CM tour and gave a little info but your DH would have a fit if you officially joined any group for the cruise. :rotfl:
Yeah being covert lasted all of what - one week? :confused3 :rotfl:

I thought i had ragweed poisoning two weeks ago but then i realized it's some other contagious yick germ going around when two of my co-workers caught it (last week) and my dh caught it too (his started last Sat) and now DD is now suffering from it as well as of fri night.

is everyone else in the midst of fundraising? I've ordered all of the wrapping paper to last forever -and I hope enough is raised so I won't be hit up for anything else for the rest of the year. There was a note about Girl Scouts or the younger equivalent in DD's backpack but I decided against it. No way Iam going to be able to keep up and I just really hate the fundraising aspect of it all. If you thew in haggling it would be just like how I felt in the straw market in Nassau.

Our kick off is this afternoon. The product is good though....frozen food. :) I bought a lot of it last year & we all enjoyed it. I am also hesitant about scouts due to the fundraising. They receive so little from the cost of the item for the troop. I would just write a check to the troop & leave it at that. I wont let the kids go out and sell anything. The BS were in front of the store yesterday & they had boxes of popcorn for $14 each!!!!!!!
Ooh frozen food. Sounds interesting. We have the Boston Coffee cakes and cookie dough but no frozen food. Ours is Genevieve and my nephews is Innisbrook I think is the name. Oh thank you for the popcorn selling alert. They will probably be set up at voting tomorrow. I always feel guilty if I don't buy so I'll pick up an individual packet they sell for $2.00. I don't even like the popcorn.

Thanks for the encouragement. Here though it appears the "spirit" of the concept has been lost. Parents are a bit too competitive and a lot of the older girls were continuing because they put so much time into it and wanted to get the final big trip vs. they genuinely still liked it. I have heard the Boy Scouts here were still a good group though - go figure.

What great memories. I know another issue I personally have is how much I hated it. It was all about selling when I was part of it. If we revisit and DDenjoys it that would be great but I just don't want the pressure to be on me to get things sold at the last minute. Of course we should call in all of those favors of local people and family whose kids did this once upon a time and we ended up with a freezer full of Thin Mints.

Oh, I hope you all feel better soon.

Okay - this has been my happy interlude for the day. I chuckle when I read replies and who has the opportunity to actually "chuckle" anymore. Of course I guffaw too - those typically happen after midnight where the guffaw gets quickly muffled and becomes a snort. Basically - thank you for the laughter. Have a great day all!

See now i didn't get the chance to be a GS growing up. (mom didn't want to have to take me or get uniform.)

Now that i see what i missed, i'm mad at dm for not signing me up. She always said it was a money issue but now i know that there's always scholarship money for girls who want to go to council activities.

The only pressure i ever felt was a mandatory calendar fundraiser imposed by one of her troops. (i had to sell $20 worth of calendars that were given to us but i had no choice on which ones they gave us.) i would have rather just given the troop $20 because i knew that they only got a % of the $20 i gave them for calendars and i usually only used the two wall calendars and chucked the rest (the were the small hallmark type). It had something to do with a minimum order with that council.

I'm glad her current troop doesn't sell calendars. They do cookies and nuts/magazine but no pressure. If there's a trip or event later in the year, i just have to pay DD's share instead of having fundraiser money in her account.

Thanks ...the actual size is like 16 X 20 poster size ...so we got a bunch of him and we had him sign them and send off to our relatives ....LOL

pirate:

That is a really good idea Todd. :thumbsup2 So many people would love to be able to do something like that.

Just DON"T BE A LEADER!!! Unless you have tons of time. I'm still working on backing out. :guilty: I actually shouldn't have said that since they are constantly looking for leaders. As for fundraisers, we only did nuts/mags once and the cookies sell themselves. It really is fun for them selling something people actually want. :teeth:
