I now bookmark the last page I was on into my main bookmarks bar so I just click on it to know where I left off. Then I don't need to write down the page number and when I sign off I delete the old bookmark and add the new one. So far it's working. Of course I just started this new 'procedure"

How else have you been following along? IDK how I could have kept up if I didn't do this. :)

You, and I mean everyone of you that does not know this trick, know that you can just look in your "User CP" and it will take you to your subscribed threads then when you see ours, just click on the little blue down arrow and it take you to the first post that was posted since you last visited, right? Now go experiment, right now.

:surfweb:

Pj

Also not sure if this is a setting in your user cp, or whether it is a default, but if you are receiving email updates of new posts, when you click on the link, it will launch your browser and also take you to the last post you viewed.

Another technique.

And Kim, I will try and be on late tonight after HS Football.

Oh, and another little trick . . .

When posting or quoting on a post and you are not all caught up yet, if after your post appears, you hit the back arrow twice on your browser, it will take you back to where you left off when you decided to add a post.

LOL! IDK if it is good or bad that we have been posting so much that we have found our way around the system like this. ;)

I had to figure this stuff out to keep up on the busy nights!!!

I also tried to steer some of you to firefox - which has tabbed browsing and is an incredible help. You can have multiple pages (or threads) open on multiple tabs - instead of multiple browser windows on the screen.

I'll give away another secret on that point . . .

You can have the SAME thread open in multiple tabs. If you want to really go to the work of being a real pirate: (usually too much work for me) you can have the reply ready on one tab, while you are checking the count on the other tab. Once that count hits 99 - bounce to the other tab and quickly hit that reply button.

This ought to make the pirate: ing more interesting, and Captain Jack will probably make me walk the plank for giving away that one . . .

What are you going to do? I have nothing better to do than think up these schemes! :lmao:

Well, I'm ready for some Football! See you all later. :thumbsup2

Well DH got a raise of about $80/month on 9/1 so I thought just maybe we could be ahead just a tiny little bit although the price of everything is going up. Well I just got notice that daycare rates go up on 9/4 and they are going up for us $15/week. We will now pay $370/week for daycare. I just don't know how everyone does it. It is getting to be so outrageously expensive. My mortgage payment is $980/month. My daycare bill is now $1603.33/month! We are daycare-poor!

I really like this daycare but we may have to start looking somewhere else. Unfortunately all the other centers around here are the same or higher so we would be looking a home care which I have some issues with. I almost feel like I have to put my kids in a situation I am not as happy or comforable with just so I can afford it.

Maybe it would not matter anyway. My DS has turned into a holy terror and is constantly getting in verbal fights all the time with all of the kids in his preschool class. None of them will play with him anymore anyway. :sad2: He refuses to listen and punishments seem to be having no effect on him lately. He simply does not care and I am getting to the point where I don't want to care either.

This cruise was really a major luxury and a splurge we probably should not be taking in the first place and now with all of this I just don't know. I still have not made our final payment yet and while it would kill me to cancel especially at this point I just don't know what to do.

I forgot to sign out first to test it. I usually do the blue arrow on the thread and it takes me to the last page of the thread vs. last page I visited. .

The Outer Banks of North Carolina® is a chain of barrier islands midway on the Atlantic Seaboard, 90 miles south of Norfolk, Virginia and 321 miles north of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. From Virginia, we're accessible by Highways 168 and 158 and in North Carolina by Highway 64. Surrounded by 900 square miles of water, we have the third largest estuary system in the world, wildlife refuges, maritime forests, the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and the highest sand dunes on the East Coast at Jockey's Ridge State Park.

Cool! I think I need to go to that State. Since I have been to SC and Virginia, I have obviously missed a cool place.

Becka I am so sorry. I know about the day care costs....it's sucks - ours will go up in October at the start of the new fiscal year at work. I hope you all don't have to cancel.
:(

Also - if there is room at brunch we would love to join you....I know you have a group already!

Becka, I don't know how everyone else is, but I do these things to make memories that last forever. DD does not remember what she got for christmas last year or her birthday, but she remembers the last cruise. You are right, they are a major splurge, but maybe what you all need is a really happy week.

As for kids, I was the worlds foremost authority on child rearing until I had my own... Now I realize how little I know. You know your son better than anyone else, you will make the best decision for him.

Hard decision! Good luck to you and your family.

Becka, i totally understand :grouphug:

i had the money to finish paying for our cruise set aside from our tax returns. But then Abby had that mishap with the ace bandage and there was over $1,000 in just two days of emergency vet care and xrays and such. Then when i found out when i switched jobs that they held the first two weeks pay. So there went another $1,200 unexpectedly out of our bank accounts to cover our income shortage....

When DD was in day care we were in the same situation as you guys. Any little raise we got was gone in no time. So much for cost of living. :teacher:

We probably shouldn't be going on the cruise either because we have so many other things (debts) the money should go to.

Lisa,

One more question. Do I login first and then refresh until they come on line or wait and get on right at 3 a.m.?

1. Yellow or dirtywater in the Goofy pool? What's up with that - [/QUOTE]

That would be too many non-potty trained kids whose parents take off their diapers so they are allowed in the big kid pool instead of the ear at the mickey pool. Usually experienced the gross water at the Mickey pool though.

Actually Lisa, for some reason when i open our thread it opens to the last post and i have to scroll up to get to the part where it says read first unread. when i click that it goes to the last post.... so doesn't work...

However, that i follow that same procedure for every other thread i'm subscribed to and go to last reas post works fine.

go figure...

Must be a Mac user trick, that is what I do! Lisa taught us a new way, but I am an old dog, no new tricks.

No need to sign out, just head to the top of the page. I do this so I can see you anyone has posted during the time it took me to read the posts on the last page. sometimes i just keep checking user cp (any new post will cause the thread title to be bolded) again and again and again, lol.

YUP! How else do you think I can catch up so quickly when I am pages behind. I have two pages open at a time. :)
