I would've been all for this months ago, I started dieting last september when we booked our cruise and have lost 85 pounds so far and only have 10 more to lose to be at my goal weight. I don't suppose I'll win but I can join in for those last 10 pounds, I suppose. :cheer2:

WOW Tynk . . . That's pretty impressive. I lost about 10% of my total weight last year, and am stuck on a plateau. I need a jump start to lose about another about 20% to be at my goal (no way that will happen before the cruise - nor would it be healthy)

Congratulations!

Maybe you can sell your secret to someone who wants to win the contest!

Well, I would be happy with just 5 pounds but my big thing is the way it has shifted. I will be starting my exercise kick off in two weeks when the kids go back to school. They had a walk across NC motivational chart at the Y last fall. I wonder how long it would take us to get to WDW? :)

Sounds like you are serious card players! Us too, we are very competitive. Did I mention that the "girls" were ahead in our Pinochle competition long ago? :rotfl: :lmao: :teeth:
We are competitive...I always say "There are no friends in cards!"
We really enjoy cards. I asked DH last night...if you had to choose...Disney once a year and never ever play cards again. Or Play cards when you want and no Disney ever again....he picked cards!!!
I must admit. I love love love Disney but I would also pick cards!!! Thank goodness we will never have to make that decision!

I have to go see what is happening in the other room, john posted he is
 danncing all by himself. I don't know about you guys, but that doesn't sound good to me!

Elaine - You have done very well! I am impressed! :)

I don't think you will ever catch up if you start on page 1. Maybe start around page 500 or so. That will at least give you the last week or so! :lmao:
I agree with my twin!!! It is hard enough to stay up day to day...just read the past few and go from there!!!

Good Eats on the food Network is about Bananas!!!!!

Watched the news today. I can live without some of the things that can't be in my carry on but I will hate to pack my cameras in the regular luggage. I don't like them out of my sight. :sad2:
I missed that...cameras must go in regular luggage?

I've spent some time today working on the Powerpoint presentations for our family camp in a few weeks. It was nice to do something relaxing for awhile.

I need to look at this new program that I just called MediaShout which is supposed to be a souped-up Powerpoint. Has anyone out there used this?
:surfweb:
No but it sounds interesting.

For the techies, only liquids are banned on US flights, electronics are not! Electronics and liquids are banned on UK flights. This is from FAA as read by Anderson C.

Whew!!!! I was worried!!! You just have to love Anderson Cooper!!!

Bananas can go in the fridge to stop them from becoming overripe for up to a week. WOW! I didn't think that you could do that.

I don't know if this qualifies for a "MickeyPlan", but I have been hatching this idea for the last week . . .

I know this is not a very competitive group . . . (politically correct statement so as not to offend those who are so competitive that they probably cannot stand competition)

I also get the feeling that everyone here is quite happy with their weight, and not a one of us would want to shed a few pounds before the cruise . . . :rotfl:

But I'm going to try this anyway . . . :confused3

How about a competition to get us all healthier, and lighter before the cruise? I came up with an idea for a spreadsheet on Excel, that I have almost finished. It has all the days on it from this Saturday until one week before the cruise. We would do a group "weigh in" this Saturday, which you would input into the spreadsheet. NO ONE WILL EVER TELL US HOW MUCH THEY WEIGH! You will keep the spreadsheet to yourself.

The idea here is to lose the highest PERCENTAGE of your current weight. Based on your daily (or whatever other period you want to use) weigh in, the spreadsheet will tell you how many total pounds you have lost, but will also compute the percentage you have lost of your original weight to four decimal places. I thought this was more fair since some of us can lose the mass of a small child with very little trouble!

I have also created a column (since we should be healthy too) to list your amount of time you spend on exercise each day in 1/2 hour increments. :cool1: The spreadsheet will also total your TOTAL exercise time through 12/2/06. For everyone who wants to play, I will ask you to email me your percentage of loss EVERY Saturday until the cruise. Once I get everyone's results, I will post the weekly standings here. Both percentage of loss, and exercise time. EVERYONE is on the honor system. Final results are to be sent to me on 12/2/06.

Winners will be announced at the Port on 12/9/06 party: - and I am open to suggestions for prizes for the winners!

What do you all think?

If you want to participate, send me an email at:

DISGEEKCHALLENGE@sbcglobal.net

I will send you the spreadsheet on Excel, and we can start this weekend. Those who want to start later or who join us, can always climb on board, since it is not total pounds lost.

I need some motivation to get the weight loss program moving in the right direction, and hope my DIS buddies might want to join me.

Any takers? :confused3
