I am taking a stab that Devon was in treatment for some sort of eating disorder based on what you have previously posted, although if this is wrong I am sorry. Anyway, I am surprised that any Insurance Company does not pay for treatment of this type of disorder. Although people with these disorders don't beleive they are killing themselves that is in fact what most end up doing not intentionally.

It is a terrible thing for a family to have to go through. Growing up is so hard today and the pressure to look the right way are so many that many of us (I include myself, as I am a eating disorder survivor) forget that it doesn't matter what we look like on the outside it's what's on the inside that matters. We also have realize that we don't have to be perfect, what is perfect anyways, and who defines it?? My "perfect" may not be yours and that is OK as long as we are both happy, that is what is called getting along and accepting each other for who we are, faults and all.

Well I didn't mean to go on and on .... I really hope she gets the help she needs and that it is soon.

$44,000 in loans for 1 yr :scared1:

i don't even want to see the student loan payment once those go into repayment. i thought my mortgage was bad....

i worked with one girl whose husband went to Harvard Law school. His loans totally something liked $240,000 when he was done and his loan payment was $2,500 a month...

Well an update on DD... We went to pick her up tonight. Was she discharged?.....Nope, insurance refuses to pay for her treatment even with the Doctor recommending she stay.

and why do i have to pay for crappy insurance you say?

So tomorrow i have to strangle people untill they cough up paperwork that i'm turning in to the attorney general's office and have the turds investigated.

They actually had the gall to say she was turned down because she wasn't trying to kill herself and was following the rules. DUH...that wasn't why she was there in the first place.

I've already talked to one of our county commissioners...(We just got switched to this insurer a few days ago on July 1) and the CC agrees that getting help shouldn't be this hard.

Right now she has no outpatient treatment lined up. I have to make phone calls and pray tomorrow.

Please god, please don't let me choke the living crap out of those who oppress me.

United Healthcare will regret messing with me...:rolleyes1

Sophia loves Bitty Baby. I can't remember when we got her for Sophia but I know Sophia was not very old. Didn't even want to name her just wanted to call her Bitty Baby and that is still what we call her.

We have bought her another American Girl Doll but she still loves Bitty Baby!

That is good to know! My niece has her and she just calls her Bitty.

Today Alex got confirmation of his financial aid for medical school . . . they budget out the year for them, and then they find them the combination of loans and grants that they need to meet the budget. His total aid package is $52,000 - about $44,000 in loans, and the rest in grants and scholarships:eek:

This includes the about $30,000 in tuition, books, fees, etc., with the balance being living expenses - he already has the place rented he is sharing with two other students, and now we are getting him a new vehicle because a car is a necessity for this school.

I am thankful that he is going into something that will repay those loans - otherwise I would definitely be :scared1: !

My cousin is a vet. and her loans were :scared1: . She pays more per month for her student loans than she does on her mortgage!!!!

Kristina, I'm so sorry.
Fighting with insurance companies is no fun. While it's nothing like you are facing, I remember when I had to jump through hoops to get Hannah back on our policy after they somehow deleted her out of the system. (Of course, then for awhile we had a Hannah and a Hanna in their records, and that caused new challenges.)

HOLY MOLEY!!! Hope he chooses a lucritive specialty! ;)

Bravo! And I have to say that even with all my years of experience, my fella that adores me for who I am, and quite a dose of self confidence.......I still talk about weight loss not in terms of what would be more healthy for me, but rather so I'll be more "comfortable" in that bathing suit at Castaway Cay. (Like anybody really care!) So how much harder is this for these young ladies. :sad2:

I am getting Eliza Bitty Baby for Christmas. I am currently looking at their sale stuff....yikes....but hey I would rather get an outfit for $12 instead of $25.

I think that now that Santa wont be bringing all of the presents this year...since Kaitlyn will be 7 yo in December, one of our gifts to Kaitlyn will be 22" baby doll that I bought when she was just a baby herself. It has a beautiful face, blonde curls and sits up. I saved several of my favorite outfits from her 3-6 month wardrobe before I ebayed the rest. I will need to do a little tayloring with thread to tuck in the sides a bit but after she has outgrown the doll, she will have the outfits to hopefully put away for her little girl one day. :) I kept some of her bath towels that have the hood at one end and some toys too.

Kristina, sorry that you are going throught the insurance hoop review too. :( I feel like I have been jumping through hoops for the past month now. IMO if an 8 yo starts talking about wanting to kill himself you should be able to get him help ASAP. Nope! :( After lots of phone calls, and listening to music on hold, I finally have an appt set for him on 7/24 with a doctor just down the street from our home. :) The testing he will do will help determine what medication will help him as well as give us the ammunition we need to get him properly placed in school. School starts 8/25 here so that gives them a month to get it done. BTW...still no word from the school board. I will be calling back in the morning to get an answer.

Thanks for your support Lisa
Since you haven't mentioned starting anything, i figured maybe you were having trouble. These insurance plans are horrible and are decided be people who don't live our lives.

Good luck with treatment. It's so hard to find the right combo of meds. With whatever they do recommend...Do some research and check out side-effects or whether it's been used before to treat kids. I've been doing a little poking around and finding some disturbing info on some of dd's meds but i'm not sure i can just stop them without her going to pieces.

Most mood disorder type drugs will take 2-3 weeks to get into their sytems so be patient with whatever they do try and remember that school year schedules to be have a different effect on how the drug is working too or strength needed . (Different environment, pressures, stresses, etc...)

:grouphug: 's all around.

John,
I am listening to the podcast that you had your e-mail read on. It took about 2 hours to download. I download it to my itunes. I even subscribed for the future.

OUCH!

Brandi, you REALLY need a broadband internet connection!

That podcast dowloads in about 5 minutes at home for me!

I really enjoy it though! I think you will find it very fun and informative! Another two hours, and you can download their roundtable discussion too!

Oh how I wish I had DSL!!!

Next year we are all moving into a brand new school. I will have a smartboard, computer, you name it! Over districts are already planning tours our our new state of the art school. This is very amazing if you knew what I was coming from. I plan on having itunes on my computer. What kind of music teacher would I be without my itunes. I will be able to quickly download whatever I need then!!!!

It has been hot, hot, hot here! Now remember Oregonians are accustomed to weather ranging 30 degrees to 80 degrees. Anything below or above that is not bearable! Over 100 yesterday! Whew! I have not been outside yet today nor have I heard any reports. (too busy getting hollered at!) :scared:
That is my stupid office temp I swear. I go outside to cool off - I'm miserable. No a/c

Yup, read him too Brack.

There is not much of Classic SF that escaped me as a young man. I have read a LOT of SF . . . Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, on, and on, and on . . .

I absolutely LOVED SF, and still do read some when I find an author I like again . . .

The last great series (that I forgot about) that I read was the ENDER novels by Orson Scott Card.
See, I come here and you guys KILL me. I promised I would not buy anymore books. The green B&N bags and Amazon boxes are a dead give away. Had a bad day - buy a book, don't feel well - buy a book and so it goes of course as I say this I realize - hey I have iTunes and I have audiobooks - I can keep my promise and purchase those right - those aren't technically books....
