My sister's daughter was in Daisies and really enjoyed it. she is in Brownies now. They did some neat things in Daisies and my sister said it was fun for the girls.

Sophia wanted to join but you all know my thoughts on girls scouts.....

ooooh do you have a good girl scout rant? I haven't heard it. ;)

Liz is in Cadets right now. She has been with the same group since she was a Daisy. Can't say i have agreed with all there programs (compared to Boy Scouts) but Liz has fun and she enjoys summer camp and some of the outings the troop takes.

In the 15 years I've lived here I'd estimate I've seen it snow about 10 times total. This has been a very unusual week as far as how cold it has gotten.

Dody,
Would you believe the only time i have been to Vegas, I think in 88 or 89...IT SNOWED:rotfl:

I could but they have been interviewing for the one we currently have open and they have two they like.

they must be mandated to advertise in-house. no head hunter fee either - money talks. a known quantity is always better than someone who they like on paper.

you should make it known that you are interested so they don't look past you the next time.

Elaine,

I am kind of suprise myself. I thought it would take a few years to find what she really liked. We did ballet, Dance, Gymnastics, Swimming, Tumbling, Soccer and now she does not want to do anything else. I don't think it is typical and I do think it is a good idea to expose your kids to lots of things so they can try everything once...

I noticed that her frame is very athletic looking in her pics- all those skating workouts - she is also lucky to be tall, looks so good on ice - keep us posted about the upcoming competition. I know we all wish her well!!!

I thought Tae Kwon Do was IT. Two years of it - twice a week. She loved it, fantastic discipline and the owners were superb. Unfortunately they closed their business and we moved to karate and a different dojo/style. Vibe wasn't the same at all. It became all about bringing a friend to sign up to get a star. She has been swimming since she was an infant and that went on along with Tawe Kwon Do until last year when the Y instructors starting stinking. With the Y costing the same as a private gym - no thank you to having my kid play games and ride on a noodle all class. So now she is only interested in it during summer camp. Which is a drag because she is excellent at it. Prior to that it was The Little Gym. Never any interest in dance. We also did Little Knights (fencing/roll playing for kids).I wish we had more of a soccer focus here but we do not. Baseball, football, ice hockey

those changes are disappointing aren't they? one of our local karate places is also like this - big pressure to bring them new clients or sign up for more classes.

my kids love to swim in summer but do not want to take the lessons during the year. I think I will make them take the last session at the Y before our pool club opens. Jaea really wants to join swim team but that is also a huge commitment - daily practices and lots of meets all packed into the month of july. ugh. I just can't get myself psyched to do all that driving.

ice hockey is just not a big thing in NY - I think that stops at the RI border - LOL.

she will find that thing that really motivates her. we are still shopping around too.

I call Shotgun......

but we'd have to stop at Niagara on the way up....

we can fly up -we need new rain gear from the Maid of the Mist ;) I better renew my passport. LOL.

also, I have relatives in Buffalo.

there is great summer theater in Niagara on the Lake.

I really don't need the encouragement!

Well it is sounding more and more like the '08 reuinion cruise we have all been talking about is going to be the repo cruises. I guess that eliminates needing to work around everyone else's dates for me. I was a bit concerned about the 11/29 date anyway and I know we can't do a repo. We would prefer to do an Eastern next time so I think we will just look at the rates and dates when they come out in a few weeks and pick a date that we think would work best for us. It might be best to go on a different cruise anyway so I won't be a downer for you guys again....

Becka! Don't ever say that again!!

It is -8 here today. That is a big -8. it is up from -11 yesterday. We found a new puppy and I thought I would post some puppy pics...

What day are you arriving in NC, Caroline? ;)

I would love to come see whom ever is going to the Outer Banks, but over July 4th?!?!?! :scared: It would take me a week to get there!! I really can't ustify what it must cost to stay there in the summer since we already LIVE at the beach. :rolleyes1 Is there anything wlse there? We have 3 big, ride-filled boardwalks around here PLUS miles and miles of beaches.;)

I'm thinking of the August PC Repo too Lisa. May would never work with school, dance recital, soccer, softball, etc. I am thinking that it will cost around the same as the Med Repos or more though... Repos are supposed to be cheap! :rolleyes1
