I was but I left to work on my TR
We are still in there...PJ is here!
I was but I left to work on my TR
Well we are all hunkered down here. DH's work let out at noon and mine at 3:30 but my boss came around and told our team about 2:45 that we should get out of there and get home. Hopefully the kids will behave and we won't be stuck home for more than a couple of days. The latest forecasts have us getting 1/4 - 1 inch of ice by Sunday evening. My only really worry is that we could lose power. We have always had good luck and kept our power during previous storms but this one is a bit bigger than anything we have seen since we moved here.
WM makes me nervous now. A friend was harrassed by police there before Christmas. I just found out about this yesterday. She took her son & coworker there to pick up things for the office Christmas party. They are social workers & had the kids come to the office. They walked in and decided to hit the bathroom first before they started shopping. The friend was approached by a cop & asked to go to the back of the store. The office & bathrooms are back there. My friend walked back with her to see what was wrong & have her son use the bathroom. Turned out that a woman helped a man load up 2 carts with DVDs and he left the store with over 3000 worth of merchandise. They caught him but were looking for the woman. WM security told the police a heavyset woman with brown hair. They never viewed the tape. Her friend was pointed out as matching the ID & it went from there.
It was terrible. She wasn't allowed to go to the bathroom and they threatened to have CPS come get her son. The scarey thing is if this could happen to her it can happen to anyone. I was shocked at what she told me.

I just re-read your post, Lisa and it sounds like it was the local police that were over zealous without viewing the tape, not WM security. Is that right or am I misreading it?
Lisa, that is horrible. You would at least think if they really thought she was the women, after they had her in custody, they would then take a look at the tapes, before proceeding any further.

I hate to say this, but this sounds exactly, exactly like the tactics our local police use.Although most people think they have to tell you what your right are, they do not! Here you are told what your rights are at your first hearing in front of a judge when you are told what you are charged with. The judge reads you your rights. By that time you have been in custody for at least 24 hours and they don't even have to tell you what you are charged with. True story.
We and people we know have had more than one experience with them. Charges filed based on an unsigned complaint 2 months after the fact, no discussion with anyone involved (supposed perpetrator or witnesses). Notification of the charges came in a letter with instructions on when to show up at court. Took an attorney and more than a couple of dollars to get that ridiculous mess dropped. Which did happen prior to the court date after our attorney gathered the names and statements of 5 witnesses....people the police and district attorney failed to talk with...and submitted them to the DA.
Of course, I do not know all the details, but it sounds like a lawsuit to me.
No probable cause, and false imprisonment.

morning all....Lisa - hope William has fun with his sleepover....and that you actually get some sleep!
John promised the girls we would go to WDW tomorrow for the day so I am trying to choose a park and straighten the house so we can come home to a clean house.
It's gorgeous out, just as we had cold weather for a day, now we can swim. Crazy....
