I get a weekly update about how your baby will be behaving. Here is the one I just got:
If your child gets upset when you leave her now, she's right on schedule. Twelve to 18 months is prime time for separation anxiety a psychological term that means your toddler can't bear to be without you.
The best way to handle painful farewells is to keep them short and sweet. Say goodbye with a quick kiss and head out the door. Don't sneak out, but don't prolong the agony with extended hugging and comforting. Your toddler's tears will subside soon after you're out of sight. It's hard not to feel guilty, but in the long run you'll help your child become more independent if you don't hover.
GREAT!!!! Just what I need to read when I am gearing up to leave her.
I was just sitting here taking a break from work (I really should be working!) and Brandi started posting pictures ...... so this is her fault.![]()

This is one of over 200 Disney Photopass photos we had taken this trip. I got my $99 worth from them this time!
That is one angry looking woman behind us isn't it? I'll bet she is having fun that day!
yes there is the influence issue too. my kids are coming off the bus saying all kinds of stuff they have never heard before. I don't really shelter them but I don't see the need for them to be saying smarty pants and all sorts of other stuff they are picking up. I am glad that this has held off until 6 instead of getting it all at 5.
so did Sarah seem bored at K? or did she have fun with the social aspects?

Sarah has never been bored at school. In fact, she has always loved it. They didn't have enrichment until 4th grade for her, although reading groups were divided by ability. (Amanda is in a pull out, "extra" reading group this year in 2nd grade and enrichment starts in 3rd now. She has mentioned recently that she is bores with math and doesn't like it). My biggest quandry was when she got to things that weren't so easy any more. 7th has finally presented more of a challenge. Not much, but she has to spend more than 10-20 minutes on homework and she actually asks for my assistance sometimes. She is finally learning how to study for a test.We have always challenged her at home too.
