Nothing like that feeling of being caught up on the Dis....being all warm and toasty inside from drinking a cup of Earl Grey tea....and the quiet setting of an empty house.

Take care everyone!

It was soccer again this morning for DD8 (her team lost like they usually do). DD13 and I are making apfelkuchen (German apple cake) for her international potluck at the library later today. My mom and aunt don't have my grandmother's recipe so I found one online that looks pretty close to what I remember. If it turns out I'll let you know.

All caught up......

Let's see today so far i .....

1. Used a magic eraser to clean 1 wall in my stairwell (let's just say i'm not impressed) There's like cleanser stuff in it.

I had to take paper towels afterwards and wipe down the walls to feel better.

2. DH tried to level our washing machine. It's been playing tigger the past few weeks.... I got to vacuum behind the machine while he had it out of the closet. EWWW scarey back there.....
I just ran a load of stuff through so let's see if it stayed in one place...

3. Sorted enough loads of laundry to keep me busy today. How i miss when we were poor and i went to the laundramat each week. At least i could get out of there with 6-7 loads done in under two hours. (i miss having 7 machines)

4. Brushed a scarf or two worth of dead hair off of Abby

5. Vacuumed the kitchen and the living room.

and the big news.............

6. I let DH turn on the heat yesterday just to take the chill off the house.... I mean it was 23 yesterday when we woke up (not inside our house but outside).

Don't know if it's german ...but my DGM has an awesome apple cake recipe...

We use red delicious apples... I don't know recipe off the top of my head but there's flour, sugar, egg, vanilla, orange juice, probably baking powder or soda & apples

Everything is whacked out on mine. The treatments have changed, the times, everything. So glad I stayed up until 1 a.m. to do this.

Well that stinks royally! :( Concierge should be able to help you fix that mess now. I would email your contact about it.

We will all be in the terminal together. Perhaps some can hook up there. Then sailaway, then dinner. :thumbsup2

We have actually already planned a group picture in front of the ship model before boarding. :) Pirate flags will be out & DISers will be meeting in the terminal for sure!

I also am trying to pack light. I will be happy with one suitcase and one extra bag for costumes and formal stuff.

You are talking about YOUR things for the cruise, right?

I finally realized that I need three tabs open to catch up

One = where the last thread page is (I usually read the last 2 pages first)
Two = where I left off
Three = where I left off

When I start reading the earlier pages I start posting and I sometimes forget which page I was posting on so I need two where I left off tabs. I'm sure there is even a more effective way to track and someone will share it with me. :teeth:

I didn't realize there was a "Fine Art of DISing" until I started following and posting in this thread. :rotfl:

Do this...have ONE page open, read and when you reply and see your post added to the end, hit BACK twice (or three times if you did a preview) and you should be back to reading on the page you left off. I do it and it works good.

 everyone.

Just checking in real quick before heading off to do housework for the day... tackling a deep cleaning of the kitchen today... changing around stuff in the cabinets, etc.

Furbaby is doing okay. It's painful to watch him walk -- he's just so broken down. Still can't stand up on his own... maybe he never will get that back. At this point, every extra day is a gift so we'll just take it as it comes.

And on the political side...

....went to church today...had to serve as an Extraordinary Minister....after communion, our priest made an announcement that a political candidate had "tresspassed" on church property to leave propaganda on everyone's car. I thought for sure it would be some liberal candidate that the church would never support.....here it was the conservative...but our priest believes that what the candiidate did was wrong...even if his political position is closest to the Catholic Church so he got a little lecture in front of our congregation. It was very interstesting to go out and see which candidate left their stuff.

Funny you said that, I went to pick up DD at Youth Group after church and there were pamphlets on everyones windshields...I would not be surprised if this was a political candidate thing as well.... :furious:

rotten tomatoes gave it a 7 out of 100. I don;t really like Tim Allen and I haven't seen any of the others.

We have enjoyed both of the first 2 movies in this series. I love the explainations for some things that kids always have questions about. ;) The kids like them too.

I started watching Home Improvement after I met DH since he watched it all the time. I was surprised to meet Patricia Richardson when I was working at a fancy place at the beach here. She called & asked for a private table for 20 & didn't want to be bothered by her fans. I asked her name not expecting it to be real and didn't recognize it. A theater student was a waiter there & he went crazy when he saw it on the reservation list. Her family comes here for a week every summer. Her parents & everyone else were very nice.

I actually think the food will be the least interesting part of the cruise. Am I wrong? I would rather have time to do everything else. See, first time cruiser.

elaine

No, you have to eat and even after three cruises I am still looking forward to certain things on the menu each night. :)

ooooh Beads!!!! She loves beads!

LOL! She should be happy....they all should! LOL! There are square ones, big circles, little circles, dolphins, turtles, fish, butterflies, hearts, & a few more. :) I also bought a ton to use as a craft at DD's birthday party next year along with the foam purses & decorations that they will use as a party bag. ;)

You should also know that apparently the DIS is a great advertiser. I just bought 3 tide pens. Is there anything else that I should go buy? Maybe the new source of marketing should be chat rooms on the web. Companies could plant people on large threads to talk about how great there product is. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

What have you bought because of this thread?

Not much because of this thread but I have always found great deals online on deal boards & that always helps. :thumbsup2

Wow Lisa! What a head full!! I'm guessing it all fell out to make way for the future blonde locks?!?! :goodvibes

Not really. It was long & curly when she was born. Some of the back got wispy & thinned a bit but not the top. I gave her a hair cut by two weeks to even it out. I hate the thin scraggly stuff. She did have a small bald spot on the back of her head but I clipped that too & it filled in within a few weeks. :) I wish that I had cut DS's hair alot sooner so that it would have filled in earlier. Once I did at 11 months it got so thick pretty quickly. DD's hair just lightened.

See that is really the perfectionist in me which is why I think I don't like being "crafty". I can never get it to look as perfect as I would like it. I see big flaws in the cakes, cupcakes, poster, etc.. and it frustrates me. Just ask DH how crabby I got trying to get that poster put together. :sad2: It is not fun when I am stressed about making it perfect.

LOL! You sound like DS trying to do his homework. :)

Definitely what he says in parentheses...in fact he has better hope he doesn't forget to pack his parentheses for the cruise or he won't get any laughts. :sad2:
