12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

Hi there! :wave2:

I'll be on the cruise with family (my parents, brother, sister-in-law and their 2 kids), my first cruise ever (well, the kids' too ;) ) and everyone's first Disney cruise.

Will mostly be hanging out with my family but wanted to drop in to see what's going on. :)

:welcome: Welcome to Chip 'n' Dale's Cruisin' Nuts! We're happy to have you with us! :goodvibes

We certainly understand about mostly hanging out with your family. That is probably what most of our cruisers will do. But we would love it if you would submit our sign-up form on our website so we can add you to our official cruiser list. You can provide as much or as little info as you like. It doesn't mean you are "signing up" for anything other than being shown on our cruiser list. Thanks! :cool1:

Frank - I still think that for you and anyone else who may be Cat. 6 GTY, free upgrade may be the case. Right now there are no Cat. 6 available, but at least 8 or more Cat. 5 and Cat. 4. DCL has a big tendency to call up guests just before docs are printed, especially to offer free Cat. 4 upgrades. I don't know how a particular TA would handle it, but I know that when booking direct it seems to be frequently offered. :)

In any case -- I'm going to find Tink and get some pixie dust for good luck!

Welcome to the cruise! My first cruise was on the Wonder and now I just wish I had more money to go again and again!

Thanks for the welcome! Looking forward to the cruise... except for the, ummm, expensive internet connectivity, we'll see how bad my withdrawal gets after a few days of being offline :surfweb:

I'm having a problem with the Facebook link on the Cruisin' Nuts site... looks like it redirects to the groups listing from my FB profile?

Ken - At home I am basically permanently connected. When I cruise I leave my computers at home, turn off my cell once we set sail, and just enjoy the cruise and my time away from connectivity. Being "disconnected" is a major part of my vacation. The shocker is after the cruise, when I get home and face a week of emails and catching up with everything. Eeeek!

As for FB - Sorry, I'm not sure why it redirects you, but you do need to submit a request to join the group in order to view everything. We are trying to limit it to our cruisers only, and sometimes those not sailing with us want to join because of the Chip 'n' Dale theme, but I have to explain and deny them. Try going to our group page and make a "Request" to "Join."

If you are still unable to join, you could either request to friend me (taswira) or PM me your email address and I can invite you to the group so all you'll have to do is accept to join. Sorry for any difficulty. Maybe it's a temporary FB problem, as they have had many lately. ;)

Edited to add: I see your join request went through! :)

Thanks Shari! the link above worked :thumbsup2 (the URL is different than what I see on the Cruisin' Nuts site, will pm info)

Have to see how well I handle going offline, might need to buy the smallest data package so I can get a few minutes a day of internet :p

Hmmm. The link I put in the post is from where I clicked on the Cruisin' Nuts home page to get to the FB group. Oh, well . . . I'm glad you're in!

FYI: Internet on the ship is notoriously SLOW. I don't think it's worth the money unless you absolutely have to get online, but some people do. I'm happy to be tech-free while aboard because I want to get the vacation I paid for, not to spend any of that time doing what I do at home - lol. I keep reminding myself of that. :surfweb:

Weird... looks to be a browser issue of some kind, both Safari and Firefox on Mac are inserting an extra "groups.php" into the URL, but curling the page and looking at source looks correct.

Even weirder, link looks ok now... think this is a hint that I need to go get coffee... most important thing is that it's working :)

Hmm, I guess if the connection's that slow, I better be ready to go cold turkey for the duration of the cruise :)

Ken - I think it's probably because you are using a Mac. I don't have one now but have in the past. They are great, but no matter how many claims are made, there seem to be compatibility issues that pop up now and then.

I use Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome and also have IE although I only use that one if I have to. The only thing I've noticed is that since my Firefox recently updated, it sometimes inserts strange characters either in the title bar or within a page. This morning there was Japanese in the title bar of an English page, and it puts little question marks throughout the "Holiday" page of our cruise site, but only in Firefox as I checked it in all the other browsers. Weird. Sometimes the latest versions are not good!

Welcome aboard Ken!:thumbsup2

GTY 6 as well here, would love to know the cabin number or better yet if we get upgraded to 5 or 4. What is the difference between them? (Do I show this is only my third cruise:))

Have never done fish extender before, but have been playing with the idea of trying it out as I know the deadline is fast approaching. Just not really sure how it would work with such a large group.

Hope everyone is a having a great weekend!!!:cool1:

Cat 6 is deluxe verandah stateroom category that are all on Deck 6 and Deck 5. Cat 5 rooms are identical, but they are all on Deck 7. They are both 268 sq. ft. including verandah. They justify the price difference by saying that Cat 5 on Deck 7 has a more expansive view. Cat 4 is basically the same as Cat 5 and 6, except that there is more square footage at 304 sq. ft. including verandah, so more room to move around. That's why they call it a "family" stateroom. You can have 4 people (although it can sleep 5) without always bumping into each other. :dance3:

Actually, Cat 6 rooms are on both Deck 5 and Deck 6. :yay:

Ooops! Yep - Of course you are right, Frank! I totally forgot about Deck 5 because I always think about it as the kids deck (kids clubs). I only stayed on Deck 5 once, and it was in a Cat 7. I didn't like it because the verandah was not as deep. Not sure if that is true of the Cat 6 that are on that deck.

P.S. I will edit my previous post to add Deck 5 - lol. Thanks for the reminder. :)

You know what's odd? If they justify Cat. 5 costing more because it has the "expansive views" of deck 7, shouldn't Cat. 6 on Deck 6 cost more than Cat. 6 on Deck 5? But it doesn't! Nice explanation, DCL. :lmao:

I would suspect that the deepness of the verandah for Cat 6's on Deck 5 are the same as the Cat 7's. My passporter says they recommend the Deck 6 ones for the slightly larger verandah's.

I think that's safe to assume. Given the choice of a Cat 6 on deck 5 or 6, deck 6 would be the wiser choice for balcony space. I know that for Cat 7 Nav Verandah, deck 7 is the best so that's what I've been choosing for years as long as I book far enough ahead to get what I want. :)

Maybe when they switch to the categories of the Dream, where it's all about location as well as deck, perhaps the pricing will be more in line with the space. It will take me a LONG time to re-think to adjust to the new categories.

We changed to late dining so we can sit with some other Cruisin Nuts. Been out of the loop for about a week. Got a nasty sinus infection leading to bronchitis and then the asthma flared up. You would think that I would have been on my computer all the time. Nope, weeks worth of mail and posts to catch up with. Question about FE, my goodies will be so big, that they will not fit into the typical pocket. How should we leave the goodies? Basically, I have a lunch bag of goodies. Should I just place it at the door? Need suggestions. Need to start packing.

I already have you on the list as late dining. I must have seen it on FB or received a PM. My memory is fading!

I'm sorry about your infections. I hope you feel better soon. Seems to be the season for respiratory illnesses. My sister currently has bronchitis. My mom is having allergy flareups and I've had some sinus problems. I'm glad my mom and I already got our flu shots, since we are sailing in a week.

I'm not doing the FE, but I'm not sure how safe it would be to just leave things at the door that won't fit in FE pockets. Most guests can be trusted, but if there is anything appealing to kids and it's just sitting there, I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up in the wrong hands. pirate:

We are home from WDW.... we had a blast nite at the Halloween party!! We walked onto Peter Pan...never had that happen before! we stayed til midnight.... and came home with way toooo much candy! :rotfl2

with the F/e's my theory is the more the merrier!! our last cruise we had 65 cabins! it was soo much fun to have goodies daily! ( the kids would race to see what was left over night or while we were out.). it is just fun! :)

as for leaving the "big" item...... you should be okay..... but you never know........maybe do a ding dong ditch.... knock and run!! :rotfl2:
