12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

Shari, what a cute picture! I just love those cute munks surrounding you....and you look so happy to be in the middle!

I'm so glad the cruise is getting closer. This will be my 5th cruise so right now I'm a silver. When should I be able to book our excursions and Palo dinner and such? What date and time can I call for this?:confused3

silver is 90 days in advance at midnight.
gold is 105
platinum is 120 days.

Hi Shari, Im on the phone now with DVC since we went thru DVC for our cruise. I havent received anything either regarding the cruise and we are Silver. I even have to do my dinner seating and transfers from AKV to Port and Port to MCO thru DVC.

Hmm. DVC is great but it does complicate matters sometimes when trying to modify anything with DCL. So when the time comes that you could make Palo reservations, would that need to be done through DVC also, or can you access your res on DCL's site then? Since you are a CC member, can you access it online that way or not?

Done we have late dining. I have to book my transfers thru DVC but excursions, palo and all the other stuff online Sept. 5 so Im good.

That's good. Are you able to log into the CC section of DCL's site? I would think it would let you look at your reservation under "View Your Cruises" and all the info and details, but just not allow you to modify anything that DVC controls. All the info they mail out should also be on your res area of the CC site, but I'm not a DVC member so not sure what you are allowed to see at this point.

.....and sometimes you don't! - - -

I loved this!

Nope, haven't gotten any e-mails from DCL and only a confirmation that I've paid in full in the mail. Talked to a friend a little while ago and she has gotten an e-mail with all kinds of info and she isn't even paid in full yet. Guess I need to make another phone call!

P.S.-I love your pictures!

Odd, but it does seem that sometimes DCL pays more attention (ie. sends more mailings to keep you interested) BEFORE a cruise is paid off. I know that any time I paid in full early, I received fewer emails and postal mail from them than if I waited until just before the due date. Strange.

In my case, one reason I'm waiting is because IF they happen to offer a Florida resident rate for our cruise, it makes things a lot more difficult if the cruise is paid off. They did that on my January cruise and my mom and I ended up taking a thousand dollar OBC we didn't manage to use all of, then it took them until May to refund the balance. So I'm facing a dilemma. Since I am Cat. 7 SOLO, it's costing me a small fortune, so I'd hate to not be able to take advantage of an FL rate if available. But I MAY breakdown and pay it off prior to Aug. 6 if I decide to book Palo. Decisions, decisions. :scratchin

Always a puzzlement when trying to figure out Disney! We will try for the residents rates also, but they probably won't come out until Oct. We have had to move our previous booking date to this one and we had been paying on it then also. Just worked out to pay it off early.

Friends used their extra to help book their next cruise. I would probably try to do that to book a cruise on the new ship. I wasn't going to try for a cruise on the new ship because we like the longer cruises, but after reading all the posts here on the boards, I think I need to try it at least once. Of course, it might be a while. Finances seem a bit thin right now...

Yeah, you really never know about the FL res rates. Usually they come out right after the final due date, but sometimes they release them just before that. I don't have a lot of hope for it this time, but it would be far too much OBC if I tried to use it aboard. I already have Dec. 2011 Magic booked, and unless the Fantasy is different from the Dream, I probably won't be booking that any time soon. Maybe eventually, but I'd rather stick with the Magic for the near future.

Hey everyone!!!! Closer and closer!!!!!! I am so ready and thinking about the cruise........ sure makes life seem workable!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Thank you everyone for the input and advice--my conclusion from all of it is that we should do a few days at Animal Kingdom and then cruise, lol. Then the DH will be able to recover from the strenuous schedule I make him keep at WDW (I am that type A personality, lol) on the cruise ship. Now I just have to convince him this is the best option, unfortunately don't get to talk a whole lot right now bc he is stuck in Iraq for a couple more months. Hopefully will be able to join everyone on this cruise and on this board soon, but until we book I will be lurking. Thanks again,
Rachel

We're also in Columbus and my husband is deployed with 3ID. Deployment is almost over! Woohoo!

Yes I can log in, I actually use that for excursions, forms, etc. Only DVC for transfers and dining.

I am so excited for this trip. All of my FE gifts are delivered or en route! I may have gone a bit over the top. Didn't want to say "overboard" because that's just silly when talking about a cruise. pirate: I've ordered TOO many custom items. I have the FE. And for my kids, I have custom outfits for embarkation, pirate night (although we're doing the Caribbean route with floral shirts), formal night, and one other random day. I've ordered custom pillowcases with their names on them and the 'munks for autographs and purchased photo mats for us. Have I forgotten anything? Thank goodness we're driving!

Wow awesome, my son was 3ID, 1-15th.

Cyndi: Small world. Most 3ID I hear about are Ft. Stewart soldiers instead of Benning.

lins4ever: I'm glad we are not the only ones working on our FE items and getting excited about them.

Chris and I are DVC members too and this is an incentive cruise for adding points on to our membership when we purchased BLT. To complicate matters even more, DVC can't help with room up grades or anything so I have to call DCL but then am limited on upgrades. For some reason we can not upgrade to a one bedroom suite, which blows my mind. Since this cruise is free I would think they would want to get as much money from us as they could. Who knows.
