12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

Wow - thanks for sharing the menus. I enjoyed reading them, imagining my family there. . .sigh. I really just plain can't wait.

Thanks for the menus as well. I was planning on making a Palo reservation this trip, as I didn't get to do that on my first cruise. It's getting closer!

hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!! :) we had a few days of sunshine this past weekend. the flooding got really bad around here last week. where I live didnt get too bad. Some cities lost sooo much. :(

Thanks for posting the menus. I have to find out the rotations to see which night we would like to go to Palo. :) we went last year on formal night. I am not a huge fan of dressing up. (and since we flew last year I really tried to not pack a ton.) Next year we get to drive! :cool1:

Val - Current "possible" rotations are listed in the DCL FAQ here on the DIS, but honestly there is no way to even imagine what they might be doing over a year from now. There will be some show changes by then (Villains replacing Golden Mickeys?). Plus, you never know which rotation you will have until you actually receive your KTTW cards at check-in. You can request a certain rotation in advance, but you won't always get it. Even dining room management does not make those assignments until two weeks prior to sailing. On top of that, on two of my prior cruises they decided to change the night of formal night after we boarded!

All of that is why for my Jan. cruise with my mom, I decided to book Palo dinner for 7 pm on what is supposed to be Pirate Night. If we end up wanting to be in our regular assigned dining room that evening for the "atmosphere," because we have late dining we can easily show up for a beverage or light dessert, without missing the dining room "show." If it remains Pirate Night as expected, I won't have to worry about "rushing" my poor mom to get to the Pirate deck party and fireworks after Palo. pirate:

I hope everyone's week is starting off well. Mine is rather mundane so far. Had to wait around for the service guy to come and install a new icemaker on the fridge. Didn't take long after he arrived though, and he was very nice and efficient. :)

How many here plan to do all three Palo dining experiences - brunch, high tea and dinner? My mom & I are doing that in January. I'm unsure how much she can enjoy due to her diabetes, but at least she'll have the experience. But on this Cruisin' Nuts sailing I haven't decided. If I end up totally solo I may skip Palo altogether. How many pounds do you think that would keep me from gaining? :rotfl2:

It is very quiet here today, most of my fellow employees are off today for Yom Kippur. It is an I-pod day for me, listening to music that makes me wish I was cruising now.
We only dined at Palo on our first cruise and I did not get to enjoy it at all since it was my first bout with seasickness, so we haven't tried it again. We like the rotational dining.
We had great weather on our recent Daytona Beach trip, maybe the best September ever. I wish I was still there. Hot and sunny every day. Here, we have the heat on at night. :sad1: Next trip is to Las Vegas in November, usually warm enough to spend the day at the pool. Something to look forward to.

Judy - I wish I could trade you the hot and sunny for some COLD weather! That's the thing I really miss here, as I'm a cold weather addict. ;)

The first time I did a Magic cruise, a WDW monorail pilot friend and his wife were in the room next door. On the night they did their "romantic" Palo dinner, the seas were dreadfully violent. They had a table by the window, and she couldn't handle it. He finished dining alone while she went back to the room and was sick the rest of the night.

BUT if you have not tried Palo brunch, you might give that a go. I think it's wonderful, lots of variety, and you're not as likely to have rough seas that time of day. I really enjoy it more than Palo dinner.

we are going to do the brunch and dinner at Palo. (havent done high tea, but I would be willing to do it.) ..... group tea???

I'm hoping to get Palo brunch as well. I didn't do anything Palo on my first cruise, and I'm planning to make up for it.

Thought you all may enjoy this Pin :)

Jenngoofys - that is too darn cute!

I've not thought about trying to do Palo's. From what I've read we could feed the kids & then have them in the kids club so we could do Palos. But I think we are going to stick with the normal dining rooms.

I would like to try to get the girls to the Tea with Alice though.

if you want tea with Alice.. go to the concierge desk on the first day to get tickets. this event goes pretty quickly. last year they added extra times for our cruise because of the demand.

my kids loved getting room service last year before we went to Palo. :) and they were happy they didnt have to get dressed up. ;)

I will plan on hitting the concierge first thing. Thank you - I put that in my notes. They are both big Alice fans. :)

When we went to WDW for the first time last year, we were lost as could be. Despite all the research/reading. I guess I'm hesitant about doing much out of the routine for risking that feeling again. So I wasn't thinking about Palos. Not sure if that makes sense.

Although I do like the idea of getting the kids into the kids club while DH and I try to find some adult time.

Deb-- another thought is you could take the girls to the dining room.. and then do Palo at a later time that evening. (8pm ish). that way you are still in your "routine".
the kids clubs--- one night is a Goofy pajama party, the girls make pillow cases and have party. some nights them make flubber/ choc chip cookies. there is plenty for them to do.

with us Palo is a must.. that is our "one night out" . between the 3 kids someone always seems to be with us. :) ( one will get bored in the club, another will want to see the show, another one wont.). we havent been in the adult pool and we have done 3 cruises all ready.. but that is okay with us... maybe next time is our standard answer. ;)

I don't think my DDs will be bored. We have never been on a cruise to know for sure. However, they take dance lessons - and several times during the year the older girls will have a fundraiser where they give the parents a night out. I know we have to pull our girls out of there in the final minutes as they love it. So I am hoping the Kids Club will be the same way. Routinely they try to play with other kids, but if that doesn't work it doesn't phase them - they just seek each other out and play together. Being the same age, right now - they have teh same interests. I am sure that will change as they get older though.

I'll have to run Palos by DH again. I like the idea of a romantic dinner - I don't think we've had one of those in about. . . oh. . .6 years now. :)

This isn't Chipmunk related - but it's a favorite of ours. My DD Maddie is trying to climb up on the rock - but we tease her that she mooned Ariel. :)
