12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

cool fe... must be from Tiffany!!! (she was on our cruise in Sept) :) I love the pillowcases she made for me. :)

Andi: I have 2 daughters. Gabby will be 12 almost 13 next Dec. Natalie will be 10 almost 11. ( my son will be 7). maybe if you want when the time gets closer... the girls can email each other. Gabby still talks to a few from our last cruise!!

Actually I made it myself. That's a huge compliment to be compared to Tiffany's though!
I'm sure my girls would love to get to know your girls. Madi will turn 13 a few months after the cruise and Mo will be 11 a few days after the cruise-so they are practically the same age!
I'm still debating whether I'm going to tell them about the cruise or keep it a surprise until we get there. I'm sure I won't be able to keep it in that long...
My son will be 9 but he isn't much into making friends ahead of time. He did meet some other DIS kids though and hung out with them when he was in the lab.

Andi: both my girls are born in Feb.
dh is turning 40 12/12 that year. :)

We have a house in Georgia.. only a week of back n forth... :cool1: there is a problem with the title.. but they are working on it. our set date to close is June 30th, but we are trying to get that pushed up by 10 ten days!!

Andrea,
Hi! My DD Mac will be 10 at the time of our sailing but will turn 11 about 3 weeks later. She met three friends thru the DIS before our last cruise and like your girls we hardly saw her on at sea days. She had play dates galore in the lab- our navigators had more highlighting than ink! She still e-mails her cruise buddies today. They had so much fun together. Mac would love to "meet" your girls ahead of time if you decide to tell them. Colin my son will be 13 and is also looking for some DIS friends (boy/girl he truly doesn't care yet). He met a girl from Australia on our Jan. cruise and a couple of boys thru the DIS- they all still chat as well.

My DH & I grew up in So. Cal. but moved to UT 13 years ago. Both of our families are still there. I even worked for Disney in So. Cal at one point and one of our dear friends is a fire capt. at DL now. (nice for those free entry days) :cool1:

As for FB- I agree it is addicting! :surfweb: Taswira- sorry about your spam  I had the same problem with myspace? Go figure! So far I have had great luck with FB- I have some of our fav cruise pics posted to my wall and a friend from our past cruise and I chat there. I am a fan of the DIS on FB and learn lots that way too.

That's all I can think of. Have a great week everyone!!

Yeah - I'm a fan of the DIS on FB and also follow DIS on Twitter.

I think the reason I don't have a problem with MySpace is because of my privacy settings and not allowing even friends to post HTML. I have lots of good friends on my two MySpace accounts, but not many on FB because I don't really post photos there anymore and I don't use their apps (which my friends there all like to do), so I guess I'm no fun - LOL. But don't get me wrong - Even for someone like me who's had some bad FB experiences, it's still GREAT for general communication!

I'm so glad some of you with kids are finding each other here and will maybe get your kids together or chatting before the cruise. Nice! :)

Hi all:

I have been missing in action for awhile....just popping in to say hello....I will try posting more often now....but still busy around here....
just returned from colorado, my daughter had her baby, Isabella was born on 4-27-09 and she is a precious little girl. (yes I am a proud grandma) I have my house on the market and we are getting a lot of showings, so keeping the house clean every day is a real task. So I get home from work and clean house every nite....I love my house clean but this is getting to be way to much cleaning:rotfl:

Well its another gloomy rainy day here in the chicago area.....

have a good one all

You could try sending a Private Message to "coolmommy." I think her user name is lower case.

Good luck selling the house, and I'm with you on the gloomy day.

Congrats on the new grandbaby, Denise

and good luck to both of you selling your houses. I don't think i will ever move because the thought of a constantly spotless house is unbearable. I do 17 loads of laundry a week and that alone consumes most of my free time! If I had to keep my house spotless AND laundry off the couch I'd be a mess!

OK, I'm at work and FINALLY had some time to look back and catch up a bit (no way could I read 40 pages so I clicked randomly through them...)

So here is my 40 pages of responses in a nutshell:

I LOVE Cirque.
I AM planning this far in advance (pretty much have our plan down to a science now all I need are the updated dining rotations and my excel spreadsheets will be complete!).
I have not done DCL without the spa (THe RASUL & Rainforest room are the best investments we make on the ship!)
and DH & I have a tradition of getting everyone settled in on night one then sneaking out to the adult jacuzzi since no one else has seemed to discover it on the first day (and I better not find it full if DIS'ERs on this trip because I spilled our secret...LOL)

I fully intend to spend A LOT of time at the adult pool for once, do more than visit serenity bay (I haven't spent more than 15 mins there other than the cabana massage) and make it to the galley tour this time (they always schedule the tequila tasting right before it and I can't see straight by that time!)

AND I apologize to everyone of you on deck 6 & 7 for the LONG walk down to deck 2 for the FE exchange. We have to get 2 adjoining rooms for our LARGE family and the thoughts of one of my monkeys going over the verandah scares the beejeebers out of me so we stay down where they can't escape!

I think I addressed all of the major topics of the thread...:thumbsup2

Hi everyone

Is anyone planning on adding some extra days at Disney after the cruise? If so where are you staying or are you waiting to see what deals that they will send our way?

Sillyandi--The rasul--how is that? What all is available? Does your DH enjoy that? I'm trying to talk mine into doing that. Let me know please!!

We are going to spend a couple days before the cruise at WDW, not sure yet where we will stay. We did that our last cruise and liked it better than after.

We are staying at WDW after also. We tried going before the cruise and we slept the first 2 days of the cruise! We usually stay at the Poly, but we might go somewhere else-i guess it depends on what deals we can find.

DH is the one who REQUIRES that we book the rasul. We are not kinky weirdos (no offense to anyone here who is;)) and he is far from metrosexual (again, no offense)- he is a beer drinking, steak & potatoes kind of guy so it was hard to talk him into the first time around but it is now the 1 thing he actually has an opinion about for the whole cruise!
Basically you check in, go to the locker room & change into a robe & slippers (I usually come in my bathing suit and leave it under my robe cause I'm always worried about flashing someone accidentally!) and the attendant takes you to the rasul room. She shows you all of the lotions & treatments, explains what they are and where they would work best then you are left alone for the 50 mins. There are different types of mud, salt scrubs, conditioners, lotions, etc and you have 3 "chambers" to the rasul room. There is the center which has a tile lounge, to the left is 2 showers and to the right is a steam room with 3 sitting areas that have cold/hot water & a fountian in the middle. It's a very hard thing to describe but I have pics here somewhere I will try to find them.
Basically you can do whatever you want in there. The treatments make your skin feel wonderful and the steamroom is really relaxing (although it can get a bit hot on the feet). We usually slop the mud on each other and sit in the steam room with the cold shower running over our heads-the contrast of the hot tile and steam with the cold water running over your head is very relaxing to me.
You can do other things in there:rolleyes1 but I would bring extra towels if you have that in mind because everything is tile, EVERYTHING!

We also enjoy hanging out in the rainforest room afterward drinking tea and napping on the warm tile lounges. It's funny because we are both SO NOT the type to do something like that at home.
DH brags about his baby butt skin afterward and will tell anyone around to feel how soft his arms are... Bottom line-It's very nice to be alone and give each other a mud scrub or massage and we both enjoy the steam room. For us it's a great way to get the stress of home out of our systems and enjoy the rest of the cruise.
It's really one of those things that you will either love or hate. We were very surprised to LOVE it because neither of us are spa types (although I totally turn in to one once i board the ship?!)

I am booking the REAS package for this cruise. :) We have never done this. and we will have our own cabin for our breakfast. (since I hate breakfast foods, I would probably let the kids eat in our room. :rotfl2:

But I want the robes!! I am a robe person. :)

not sure I could handle the Rasul.. I am terrible with smells, but I am willing to try it. :)

I have not yet been in the adult pool to swim. and we have not been to Serenity bay either. ( we even did the double dip in Sept..) the second day at CC my oldest got a migraine so we were in the cabin until 12:00. we did all ride the tram just to show them the other side of the island.

Is everyone going to book Palos? we only did the dinner on this last cruise. ironically it wasnt the best meal we had there, but we still enjoyed it. Dh wants to do brunch again. :)

I agree about Palo. Dinner there was okay each time I've dined there, but not my best meal. I've always loved the brunch and will definitely try to book that again.

I've not thought of Palos. Funny as I've looked at excursions, made magnets & saved stuff to make shirts. But haven't thought about Palos.

People with children, how do you work brunch? Do you drop the children off at the kids club after they eat, then go to Palos? Is Palos worth doing?

Our brunch time was 11, so we didnt have to worry about feeding them. the club will feed them if they are there for a meal time. (they are walked up to Topsiders, where one side is closed.)

on our last cruise only those with the Reas seemed to get the brunch. ( booking 105 days out.) a few others got it at 90 days out. Dinner filled up quickly, but I know a bunch got reservations once they boarded.

I like going to Palos... it is kid free, the service is great. ( normally the food is awesome.. ) it is an extra charge of 15.00 per person. 2 cruises ago we went with another couple and it was so much more fun.... they kept bringing out extra foods etc to try.

I've always wanted to stay at the Contemporary, so we're going to book 2 or 3 nights after the cruise there before heading back to Chicago. It's still too far out to even attempt to book the resort, but my ressie is with DU so I'm sure they can help us get a good deal.

We're extending our trip a few days before the cruise...probably at POP...maybe POR, we'll see how it goes & what promo's come out.
