12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

My friends and I actually booked this cruise quite some time ago.....as soon as the 2010 sail dates became available. This will be my second cruise after taking my first 4 day this past September. I convinced several of my long time friends and their families that this was a must to experience and we settled on this sail date. We have 10+ cabins booked.....so looks many of us Chicagoans (GO WHITE SOX) are escaping the start of what usually turns out to be a long winter!

My kids will be 13 and 7 (twins) at the time of cruise! Cant wait!

Hi everyone. We booked on board last Friday. We are so excited. My kids met others their ages on the DIS before our last cruise and it made the trip so much more magical for them. We're hoping there are some kids here too! If you have kids please PM me.

Thanks Taswira for taking this on and for the cute Chip-n-Dale graphic. I can't wait to see them in their swimwear! I will PM you with all of our info for the website.

LivingtheWDWdream- I think we are in one of your pictures of the ship leaving port on the 10th. We were on our veranda on the starboard side of the ship. Please PM me if I could get copies somehow.

So happy to be here!

Hey guys, welcome aboard. Glad to see you are on this cruise. We loved the FE gifts last week. The little fish were from us, they are made at a store that was on the History Channel.

:welcome: Welcome marysol_21 and family . . and friends! Wow! 10+ cabins? I put that in your info on our cruiser list, but let them know that if they join the DIS and give me their info I can list them separately. Please check your own listing on that page and advise me of additions or changes. From the info in your post, I listed you and the twins. I do not have your first name (guessing Mary?), kids' names or gender, dining time, deck or category/cabin number, and whether you will participate in the Fish Extender gift exchange. Providing this is optional at your discretion. We are so glad you joined us! :cheer2:

Reminder to all: I can also link on the cruiser list from your user name to an appropriate photo of yourself/your family if you let me know the URL of the photo or e-mail it to me.

Yep! I took photos on the 10th for a friend who was onboard and they were on deck 4 so I am sure I got some of the verandahs on the starboard side! You are free to have any that you wish.

Hey guys - Check out the weather graphic at the bottom of our website home page. As of 9:47 EST it is 28 degrees at Cape Canaveral/Port Canaveral! ;)

It was way too cold for me! I moved from CT to escape the cold weather! Didn't want it to follow me here :lmao:

It is colder in Florida than Utah. The website said 26° when I looked and it is 31° here! Wow. I am so glad we cruised last week. We felt chily when we left the ship last Saturday and it was 56°. It was so funny to see all of the porters in down coats and mittens. I wonder how they are coping with the extreme cold there now. Poor guys!

ooohhhh a heat wave! everyone lets head to UTAH!!! :scared: I can't believe how cold it was here in Orlando and that Utah was warmer! :beach: rather warmer temps!

Welcome!!! Glad your able to share DCL with family! But I'm a Sox fan but a RED SOX fan LOL so we may differ there :lmao:

Awesome!

Amy, fair enough....LOL

so for all those experienced cruisers.....what should we expect for this cruise in terms of capacity? does this sailing tend to sell out? what major differences can we expect from the 7 night compared to the 4 night? what excursions are recommended.....any input is greatly appreciated and sorry for all the questions!

Cool! More White Sox fans. We have been White Sox fans for years. We were born and raised on the southside, we live in the Northern Suburbs for 30 years but we will be Sox fans FOREVER! Our son named his puppy Ozzie.
Joey Cora was on our Jan 3, 2009 cruise. A very nice man and a good father. His wife was very sweet. His children are cute. We have pictures and autographs.
Are your 10+ cabins all White Sox fans?
GO SOX!

We were on the December 8, 2007 Eastern cruise and the ship was full. Besides 3 extra nights ;) just more time for more fun. More shows. More menus. Three sea days to enjoy the ship. This will be our 4th Eastern. So far we have taken Sea and See on St Martin, we have taken a cab to the French side to walk around and shop (because our beach excursion was canceled because of high seas). St John Island Tour, St Thomas Island Tour, Magens Bay (St Thomas) and the Sky Ride Tramway that you can walk to if the ship docks at Havensight. The DIS is the place to ask questions and get answers. Ask as many questions as you want.

Marysol- Mine is "my boy" too! In fact I was thrilled that he wanted to wait in line to get a picture with Stitch last week. It made me feel like he is still sort of little. I don't want him to be any older than necessary. I swear that is part of why I picked this cruise in particular. My little girl will still be in the 8-10 group in the Lab (by about 2 weeks) and my still little boy won't be old enough for The Stack yet. He really enjoyed Ocean Quest. I am sure Colin would also enjoy getting to know Chris over the next 22 months. He was really glad he got to know a boy from MI before this last cruise and they had a great time together. They were practically connected at the hip. You can have him PM me and they can chat.

As for the cruise- DH and I were in St. Thomas 5 years ago. We created our own walking tour, visited the outdoor market- really fun and some great bargins, took a tour of the fire station and got a cab to Magen's Bay in the afternoon. It was very nice. This time we will probably do some diving for part of the day. We are hoping to get DS certified as soon as he turns 12.

You can buy a fish extender from a wonderful fellow DIS'er- I am not crafty enough to make one either. Her name is Tiffany. She goes by the DIS name LuvtheEars and if you PM her she will make you a beautifully embroidered one for under $30 inc. shipping. On our cruise last week 5 of the 12 FE's were Tiffany's. My kids loved doing it and getting all of the little gifts and treats.

We are so excited. The time will pass too quickly I am sure.

Take care everyone and have a great Friday.

We took the eastern in 2006 on DCL we did the Under 2 Flags Island Tour and that was really nice we go to see both sides of St. Martin and gave us the option of being dropped off down in the shop area, or back at the boat. We got off in town and shopped then took the water taxi back to the ship.

St. Thomas we did the Island Tour as well and that was nice too we went up to a few look out points and had time to shop as well before walking back to the ship.

This time we are planning to just head over in St. Martin via water taxi to the downtown area and exploring there more. Maybe a cab over to Marigot but probably not.

St. Thomas we will do some shopping near the boat but then spending the rest of the day on board. relaxing.

We will have done the Western just before this cruise and will be spending most of our time on excursions so this Cruise is for relaxing!

My son will be 7 on the cruise also!! My daughters will be 10 & 12!

If you do not want to buy a fe, I have seen people use Xmas stockings.. and since it will be near Xmas time, you are good to go. :)

Tiffany was on our cruise in Sept! I didnt buy the fe from her, but I did buy the embroidered pillowcases. I got one for my niece too. it was fun to see how many on our cruise had the fes from Tiffany. :)

My sil is a huge White Sox fan. they live in Crete IL.

Although I don't plan on participating in the FE (being solo and having too much else on my Magic agenda), thank you SO MUCH for that idea! I will take my Chip 'n' Dale stocking (since this IS a cruise to celebrate Chip 'n' Dale - LOL), hang it INSIDE my stateroom, and use it as my beanie Chip's "sleeping spot" - like a hanging sleeping bag. Thanks! :goodvibes
