12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

Val - I don't bring any beverages except one bottle of water for in the terminal prior to boarding. Just to save the hassle of lugging beverages, I usually spring for the case of Evian water to be delivered to my stateroom. It's absurdly expensive, IMHO, but worth it. I never drink Evian on land, but grew to love it aboard.

At home I tend to drink far too many (diet) soft drinks, but on the ship I stick with hot or iced tea, coffee, the occasional "drink of the day" and my fave Apple Black Martinis ... plus all that Evian WATER. I'm always drinking something! :drinking1

Is anyone planning on bringing adult beverages or other beverages on board? dont laugh but I am easy to spot... I am the one with the cans of Pepsi on board. not a fan of coke, so we bring me a case of Pepsi! and I have a bunch of people always come up to me and say...where did you get that? :rotfl2:
I am planning to bring mini bottles of margaritas too. thought about buying a mini blender too :rotfl:

We will be the ones with a case of Pepsi (DH) and Barq's root beer (me).

We buy the Evian onboard too, even though we don't really like Evian either. If we could get Pepsi and Barq's onboard we would not have to carry it on.

Our friends are cruising with us again, they will be in 6048. But they just don't "get the Dis", so they will not be doing the FE or anything else. Could someone remind me how to link our dining? I did it once before and don't remember how I did it.

We always stop at Wal-Mart or supermarket and get 2 cases of water. You just check them in like your luggage. Then magically they appear in your stateroom with your luggage. We liked the Evian but $40 bucks??

You can call DCL. You need to provide them with the name of the primary guest in the other cabin, and their reservation number. Then state your request.

If you ONLY want to share dining with them, then ask to be "cross-referenced for dining." If you instead tell them to want your reservations "linked," that sometimes causes problems if each stateroom party wishes to make online reservations for anything else.

Thanks.:flower3:

Yeah - $35 plus that automatic gratuity - Yikes! BUT it's a one-time thing. I don't mind, considering that nearly EVERYTHING on the ship is insanely priced anyway! I'm one of those by-the-book people who never sways from DCL's rules and requests. Their "Prohibited Items" FAQ states: "Please be advised: Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to remove fragile items (including beverages) from luggage. In such cases, items will be stored and returned at the end of the voyage. Beverage containers are considered fragile and have previously caused damage in checked luggage. All fragile items must be transported inside carry-on luggage." There was a thread on this some time ago, talking about how the porters accept such items because they are not employed by DCL.

I know that many guests check beverages as luggage, and I know that sometimes (but NOT all the time) it is delivered separately without first being stored in the giant luggage "mountain," but I don't take that chance. And after seeing the damage that beverages with luggage can do (to the possessions of someone directly across the corridor from me), I have been VERY tempted to carry on all my luggage. Maybe this time . . . ;)

On another topic: Has anyone here seen the cute Halloween items on DCL's "Gifts & Amenities" pages of their site? I hope they will offer some nice Christmas items this season as well. :santa:

I did! I am hoping they have some special Christmas things for our cruise!

wahooo another Pepsi drinker!!
it is awful living in Atlanta... coke capital of the world!

I used to drink caffeine free Pepsi but it is just too hard to find, so I switched to Barq's (which has less caffeine than colas).

I'm a Pepsi drinker, too. I even worked for them as a contractor and got to go to a lot of their plants. I even saw the Star Wars cans before they had real words on them, they just had garbage placeholder text.

I used to drink Vanilla Diet Pepsi, but it's nearly impossible to find in my area anymore. There was an issue here in Florida where someone opened a can of Pepsi and found the remnants of something gross. If you have a weak disposition, do NOT go to the article. If you don't and want to know why Pepsi lost some popularity here, check it out.

Nothing against Pepsi. It was a freak incident, but . . .

I'm not much of a soda drinker so never brought them on with me. We are thinking of bringing on some wine and champagne. It was my understanding that you were supposed to bring on anything liquid as carry on lugage, like Taswira stated. Isn't that still the way? I might have to think about ordering water, but not sure we need to spend that money. I don't remember having any trouble finding something to drink when I needed it.

I just got REALLY impulsive and acted upon the impulse. FL Res rates for the Oct. 3rd 4-night Wonder came out, and they happened to have a Cat. 7 (although I booked it so quickly that I inadvertently got #6134, which used to be a Cat. 6). I only booked because my mom agreed to split the cost with me. Hoping she can see "The Golden Mickeys". I know it was supposed to end sometime this year, but it IS still showing on DCL's site so . . .

I haven't been on the Wonder in YEARS! Hopefully this will make my mom not feel so bad about ME going on the Magic two months later . . without her. :boat:

Just wanted to let my fellow Nuts know because now our Cruisin' Nuts cruise will become my 14th instead of 13th, and I think I feel good about that! I am SO superstitious! :wizard:

Oh my goodness, taswira! I can't believe you just did that...I'm so jealous! Congratulations...mmmmm, no wonder you were looking at all the Halloween stuff on the DLC web site, and it just led you to book another cruise. I'm excited for you, so your Mom is going along? Think about us poor almost cruisers while you're gone!:woohoo:

Oh, I will! Believe me! My mom and I are getting cabin fever (heh-heh) here at the house. She isn't much up to going places in general, but cruising means there is always food (her need to eat a little, frequently, due to the diabetes) and a place nearby to rest (stateroom or those Deck 4 lounges). So it's the most suitable kind of "getaway." I called and did confirm that the Golden Mickeys WILL still happen on the Wonder for our cruise, so FINALLY my mom will get to see it. :goodvibes

I am only going BECAUSE of my mom. Have to keep me from having a nervous breakdown, you know? Save me, Captain Mickey! (since Captain Tom won't anymore) :rotfl2:

Shari: that is soo awesome!! :) I wish they would extend the discount to GA residents ;)

I am glad your mom gets to see the Golden Mickeys!

Thanks, Val. Sailing with my mom is never anything like cruising solo or with a friend, because she isn't physically capable of getting around quickly to things, standing around at deck parties, etc. But we both really need another little getaway and cruising is about the only way she can manage it.

You'll just have to move down here to FL so you can get the resident rates. Crazy as it sounds, a lot of people do that, you know. :cool1:

Have you heard from any of the long-ago FE sign-ups who haven't posted in ages?

Shari-- I have only gotten 5 emails addresses since we posted. hopefully more will start reading the boards since we are getting closer! :)

We tried convincing my mom to cruise with us.. but she doesnt want to go 7 days.. (crazy!!) and it was too close to Christmas!

Now for the Florida rates...does everyone in the cabin have to be from Florida?
