11 year old - which place or both?

My 2nd DS will be 11 on our cruise on the Magic in the spring. I know he qualifies age wise for both the Club/Lab and the Edge. As it happens, we also have a DS who will be 14 who wants to go to the Edge and a DS who will be 5 and will want to live at the Oceaneer Club/Lab.

He wants to know if he can go to both or if he has to chose between the Club/Lab or the Edge once we set sail.

He can go to both! Assuming you’re okay with self check-out privileges for him (they come and go from Edge as they please).

My guess is unless he has some X men type mutation and can split his body in two, he will have to do one at a time.

Really, both are fine, I would recommend to check the daily navigator to see if there are special events that might be of interest to him to help decide on specific days or times. He may also have certain counselors that he gravitates toward as the cruise progresses so that may influence his decision besides where his siblings are. Our son always ends up with a few favorite counselors by the end Of a cruise.

My daughter is also 11 and loves being able to do both. She checks the navigator each night to plan out which club she wants to do activities in at which times. She just hates it when there is something in each place she wants to do that happens at the same time. I think your older one can go to the Edge and Vibe at 14 also.

Well, my son loves to dance, so if we'd taken a Disney cruise after he was 10.5 I'm sure he would have stayed with Oceaneers just for that dance floor on Dream until the bitter end.

That’s not fair. In this case her child is eligible to be in either the Edge or the Lab. There’s not a “problem” with her son choosing to go to the Edge when he meets the age criteria.

He’s gonna be thrilled to hear this. Honestly he adores his older brother and wants to be like him and other times he wants to be a goofball (he is after all my quirky middle child) with his little brother that idolizes him. I’m sure he will love being able to do activities with both.

He is one of the youngest in his grade and will be nearly finished 6th grade by then. If I had to guess he will divide his time pretty equally and I may never see him.

This will totally be him researching what’s best for himself. As far as my oldest, he’s gonna be a new 14 and still in 8th grade and honestly high schoolers somewhat frighten my more timid child...he’ll be super content to stay in the Edge. My two oldest children’s ages are one of the reasons we are crushing next year. They wanted the option of being together. After all they willingly chose to share a room together at home.....

The person I was quoting does not have the child that's eligible for both clubs.

I have no issue with a child that's in the overlap ages attending both clubs they are eligible for. I do have issues with the "my child is so mature at 10, he/she should be in Edge" mentality. Or the "my kids can't be separated, so my 12 year old should be with his 16 year old brother in Vibe".

Yes they did- they said “to quote my children when they were this age”. This age being the subject of the thread.

You seem to be quick to jump in there with negative and people shouldn’t be made to feel badly when their kids meet the age ranges.

I’m so happy my boys being 12 and 11 are both able to be in Edge but also check out stuff of interest in Oceaneers’ on our first cruise in 34 days (no, not counting )

My child was allowed into Edge at 10 years 7 months. We went to the Edge on the first day during open house just to check it out. We didn't even ask if she could have the privilege of being in there. The cast member asked her age and then looked her up on their list. Because there were so few kids on that cruise overall, they had a list of 10 year olds that could be eligible for Edge if they wanted. Our cruise after that, this definitely wasn't the case and I doubt she would have been let in. By then she was 11 though and it didn't matter. The Edge was always packed on that cruise and she was happy she could go to the Club/Lab too when it got too crowded and crazy in the Edge.

That's exactly right. My daughter complained that the Edge was full of kids that should have been in Oceaneers and then the Vibe was full of kids that should of been in the Edge. We offered to have her stay home next time.

That was my thought too. Kids complaining on a cruise. I see the problem quite clearly, and it isn't what other children are doing in whichever club. I'll get them a mirror and they can see the problem too. LOL.

I’ve only read posts from parents saying their kids were bored in the club. I’ve never read a post saying their 12 year old should be in the Vibe? I’ve only read pists where you state that parents are saying that. My sixteen year old is dreading the fact that his brother is now old enough for the Vibe.
