11 vehicles robbed at Hard Rock Hotel, including mine, wheres the security?

Well, without dragging the money-grubbing attorneys into it about who's liable....
I hope the situation has been addressed & resolved. If it really does occur on a monthly basis, that's a situation in my book! (11 vehicles in one night, security personnel must've had a grreat card game goin')
When a mall has repetitive break-ins, a task force is usually assigned. How about a DIS vigilante group take care of matters for HRH? Of course, some room & board would be required. (hee-hee-hee)
No offense to any money-grubbing attorneys out there either! I actually love mine!

I think Universal was more than fair with what they have already offered you as compensation. All lots that you park in are park at your own risk and no matter how much security you have things can and do happen. The best you can do is try to park in a lighted area and leave valuables out of sight and not in the auto but thefts of tv's from cars is a common occurence and just because people go to universal/wdw or anywhere else doesnt make you immune to the realities of the real world. Ive found Universal security to be very nice. Once my trunk wouldnt lock in their parking lot and they told me they would keep a eye on the car and when we returned at the end of the day to our car we were confronted by security on bike who were watching the car making sure we were the rightful owners. This can happen anywhere its just bad it had to happen on vacation but i think they have been very fair/reasonable.

I'm sorry that happened to you.

We were guests at HRH that Sat. evening (10th) and noticed 3 vans with taped up windows in the lot, as we walked back along that sidewalk that veers left and goes right along the parking lot area at HRH.

They had a security guard posted just outside Universal Studio's gates, where that sidewalk starts heading toward HRH. However, I think he would do a lot more good being posted much closer to the parking lot itself.

Clarification,

When I asked how many times cars have been robbed, it was the first time that so many were in one night.

Calliope, The cars were actually robbed early on the 11th (Sunday) . The cars that were robbed were moved to the back parking lot, I think it is for service vehicles. I think you walk by the lot when going to Citywalk.

The hotel said they were going to try to get a gaurd at the gate after the incident happened. Why does it take 3 or 4 incidents before they get one? I still feel that hotel parking should only be for hotel guest. There is other parking for IOA, UNIV, Citywalk. I was very frustrated the night before it happened when I had no where to park. One lot was marked full, the other was not marked full but was beyond full. I had to go back to the lot latter in the evening to repark my van in a actual parking spot.

Tigger1,

That's terrible. I'm so sorry you weren't treated better afterwards. What a terrible thing to have happen on your vacation. I can completely understand your frustration.

IOA tech: consider the source.

As a family that is going to HRH at the end of July,I have a question. If I am paying $5.00 per night, what am I paying for?I hope I am paying for security. If my vehicle gets broken into while I am there and I am paying for security, then you better bet who I am holding ultimatly responsible???The hotel.Sure breakins can happen anywhere, but if I am going to pay you for the priveledge to parkin your lot, you better be driving around and making yourself visible.I am so sorry that happened to your family.Just remember "What goes around, comes around."

Disneyhottie

We did not have to pay for parking but did pay to stay at the HRH. I expected security at the hotel, thats one thing that goes along with paying more. It really bothered me when I was told that it was not the first time they have had problems.

I hope they have security now or I will not be back.

That really is the pits! So sorry to hear about your trip. I hope otherwise the trip was good.

Lucky for you and your family you were able to get some "nice bottled water".

I would write a letter and complain up a storm!!!!

We spent two nights at the Hard Rock recently - Friday July 6th thru Sunday the 8th. It seems that they are trying to implement some changes because when we initially arrived at the HRH there was a guard there stopping all vehicles, asking for our names and checking it against a list of hotel guests.

But when he couldn't find our name, he let us in anyway! (The HRH lost my security deposit and thus canceled my reservation made months ago, but that's a separate story.)

They told me that self-park costs $5.00 which is why we opted for valet for just $5 more. I figured if someone was going to break into my rental car, if it was in valet, wouldn't the HRH be quicker to take responsibility for the incident?

And it was great to just call down our number & have the valet parkers bring our car around.
