Do not go on Monday, October 30th, either! Do not eat at Donald's that morning! Just don't do it!!!!!!!!!! :teeth:

I hear September 2 is going to be horrid! I hear the animals are going on strike because they hate their "zoo." Everyone should avoid it all costs. :cool1:

Everyone to there own thoughts, but for my family, AK is a great park, ( not a zoo ) where there are many activities and sites to see. We spend at least 1.5 to 2 days in AK per trip, and find in extremely enjoyable. Not like a smelly zoo.

I love AK, just hate the small walkways and huge hordes of people. Also, It seems to me that its more "humid" there than the other parks... Seems hotter for some reason... even with all the trees.
On a slow day with low attendance, its AWESOME! I cant wait to do Everest!!!

FYI...Lucky the Dinosaur is no longer at AK. ;)

Oh, I know. I was just trying to add to my point. :teeth: We got to see Lucky when we visited Disney World last July. He was so awsome! He stopped to 'talk' to us on his way through Dinoland! Prolly 'cause we were wearing our Bride and Groom Ears. We got a wonderful video of the whole thing! We still love watching it! I wish I could figure out how to post a video. :confused3

My son and I love the AK, but DH does not. We are the exact opposite-I like the AK more than MGM. I paid once for a one day ticket to MGM (living in Tampa at the time) and thought I got let down. However, I see Disney at a total experience-with all four parks.
That being said-there is a safari tour near me that is less than $10 a person and rivals the one in AK. It doesn't have any lions or zebra ect. But you can feed the animals out of your hand. Also the Tampa zoo rocks by the way. You can feed birds out of your hand there and they have a really cool petting zoo and you can feed sting rays there.

Animal Kingdom is my fave so I totally disagree!! I tell everyone I talk to to definatly go to the Animal Kingdom!

when i started to make our family travels back to WDW after many many years of abscence, i was reading about this new park AK. i had read so many unflattering remarks about this park i was really not to interested in going. well at the time my 2 DS's were 11 & 13 so i figured if we at the very least saw a few exotic animals and did a few cool rides the day would be a good one. well needless to say AK is our family's second favorite park. we spend a good part of our day here. the whole family just enjoys the atmosphere that disney has created here.

i honestly AK is really a misunderstood place to visit. it comes with so many preconcieved notions about it being a zoo that it does turn people off from going there. well hopefully the secret wont get out ..

Now that's just silly. Anyone who actually avoids AK (or any other place in that article) based on someone else's opinion without having enough sense to draw their own conclusion SHOULD probably stay away from the park. :badpc:

We love AK as well and can spend well over a day in the park if we actually do everything. I doubt what the guy says will actually influence many people though.

That Florida Zoo must be way better than the zoo out here where I live b/c AK is awesome to us! My DD LOVED it the last time we went, it was a close second to MK as her favorite park!

I don't completely disagree. AK is our least favorite park, we've never done more than half a day and we've still done it all.

Actually, I should come even cleaner and say that as of tomorrow morning we will be at AKL for a laid back anniversary trip and one of the major attractions of the trip is the thought that we will hop the bus and hang out at AK, when and where we want: catching a ride on EE, sipping an adult beverage while catching an act and people watching in Harambi village, cooling off on Kali, or riding my favorite ride - Dinosaur (or, as I will always frame it "Ride to EXTINCTION"). Can't wait!!!

Journalistic integrity, ummmm, isn't that an oxy moron?

Ok, Ok, maybe I live in a fantasy world, or at least I would like to, I guess that's why I like Disney.;)

:sad2: I LOVE AK and not just because it's Disney. I think EE was a great addition and anyone who considers AK is a zoo, has a very different opinion of a zoo than I do. Oh well, to each his own...

Stupid people! Just because it has animal's doesn't make it a zoo and quite frankly I'd rather pay $70 for AK than $10 to see animals in cages! AK is my fave park and I think this is just stupid! Anyone know if we can complain about this anywhere? I think we should all complain and get it removed!

I second that!! And if he's been to the zoo recently he'd know it's not that cheap to go to the zoo. We went recently to the Philadelphia Zoo, and was appalled and the size cages those poor animals are kept in. AK is my favorite park, I was happy to see how much room they give the animals, that they don't force animals out and give them realistic surroundings. Plus everyone there is so knowledgable you can really learn a lot by stopping any of the CMs.
Plus ds LOVED the dig site and play area. As for the price we do the hopper passes so its not even a thought to us.

But its like saying Sea world is just a bunch of fish.

ITA! I read the whole article on MSN and it is an slanted piece. Times Square in NYC is a don't visit because "Today's Times Square is a Disney-fied playground of national chains like Virgin Megastore and Applebee's." He obviously is a - Disney is not a real travel experience - kind of person. Which is fine for him, but not all readers are going to pick up on the slant.

Oh, yes.......I would have much rather visited Times Square when it was prositutes, pimps, XXX Shops and muggers

I think AK is just the most beautiful park. It is definitely not a park that I rush from attraction to attraction. I can't help but constantly stop and look around (but, not in the middle of those narrow trails :goodvibes ) to take it all in. How can you stroll through Africa and not appreciate the feeling of thinking you are really there, if only for a few minutes. I know there is criticism of DinoLand, but I noticed the pavement had the cracks built into it, and the yellow traffic lines which is so authentic to a carnival set up in the streets here in the NE. The attention to detail in this park just amazes me.

I didn't even read this article, but if the reviewer didn't even mention the sheer beauty, even if it isn't your cup of tea, then I am glad I didn't waste my time.

Oh I get it, I guess you are a journalist or friends with one for this post, just to explain my main problem with journalists is that 1) They all seem to be much more interested in putting over their slant/opinion especially their political bias, than (heres a novel idea) reporting the TRUTH! 2) Many report on things they have no idea what they are talking about, (good example this thread) and 3) they won't admit that they are biased.

Not to get in the middle here and I know this is OT, but....I took classes to get into Broadcasting and Media and you are actually trained to report things a certain way. They want you to focus on the bad news because that's what attracts viewers/listeners. And when you've been in the business for a long time and have become a "household name" (think Diane Sawyer) you are actually PAID to give your opinion. It's just the way the business works. This is the reason I didn't get into it...I can't force my opinion on someone and always focusing on the bad is just so depressing!
