11 nights! 3 resorts! A goose egg at Biergarten! A 9 year old IN A STROLLER! New 8/6!

Yea for having the park to yourselves!:cheer2:

I do not like doing laundry while on vacation, but it must be done! Especially with very wet clothing.:laundy:

Holy Update Batman!

We loved CBR, but perhaps it's because we've never sprung for the balcony? We stayed at BWI on our honeymoon, and adored it. I love the whole vibe of the place! I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I'm thinking we'll try the Beach Club next though.

I understand how you must have felt at the CL lounge. We've never stayed club level (obviously if we're too cheap to pay for a balcony), but I'd probably feel the same way. That's kinda how I feel at the GF. Oddly, I feel fine at the other deluxes. :confused3:rotfl:

Sounds like a great morning at AK! I've never done any of the trails ('cause I don't really like animals that much)but I've got to check out the gorillas.

Were you mentally calculating how much it was gonna cost you to get the kids even on carnival prizes? I would have been. ;)

That sounds like some storm! Awesome that waiting it out rendered an empty park though! You stuck it out in wet socks and shoes? You're my hero. I would have been buying some Crocs -that I'd probably never wear again.

Great updates!

Just now jumped in. Great storytelling & pics! I'm hooked. popcorn::

I got caught in a violent downpour at MK our first trip...We were stuck riding Peter Pan like 5 times in a row, to stay out of the rain! Thankfully our kids loved it.

Love the updates!! We stayed at CBR on DS's first trip, for a night before we went to Kidani. I was like you--it was just too huge! We stayed at BW Villas in June 2010, and I absolutely loved it! I laughed throughout the concierge description--we'd be the same way! In fact, I offered to book CL at Poly for DH's birthday in '13, and he quickly vetoed that idea! :rotfl2:

Looking forward to more updates! You are coming up on my favorite part...the laundry! :rotfl: seriously, though, even laundry doesn't seem that bad at WDW!

I can't wait to hear more thoughts on CL at the BW. We are contemplating it for our Nov trip. Holla for having the MK to yourself, boo to the mean people on Small World.

My family would just love getting "stuck" on a ride like this!

Love the room at Boardwalk. Never stayed there, but we've stayed at Beach Club and Yacht Club. I really like the location of them.

I can't believe the storm you had to stand through! Scary! But, yay for sticking it out, and waiting. Then you had the park to yourself, it looks like!

P1010013.jpg

I stayed in a room just to the right of that stairway, third floor I think. I like Boardwalk, but man some of those hallways just go on and on and on :upsidedow

Loved your update! I bet you fit right in on the CL :cool2:

Oh my gosh! I am seriously laughing out loud at your trip report. Tears were streaming down my face at your green poop comment. I will definitely be on the lookout for it after I try them in two short weeks! Yay!

Glad to hear your transfer to BWI from CBR went smoothly. We are doing a split stay between BC and AKL when we go. I'm hoping our luggage meets up with us at the right spot. :)

We've been stuck in a horrific rainstorm at MK as well. We donned the lovely garbage bags as ponchos, too! It's amazing how the weather can turn on a dime!

Can't wait to hear your next installment!

Joining in! I'm loving your trip so far! I loooooove the Boardwalk, it was my dream resort for years (until I became better acquainted with Beach Club, but BWI is still #2) and your pictures definitely make me remember why I love it. That balcony!

Nothing is better than a dead park after rain. We were in MK once after a HUGE rainstorm and walked on BTMRR and Space Mountain - we would've stayed longer had we not already been soaked.

Can't wait for more! I love your writing style!

Wow! I'm far behind you prolific thing!

I had called bell services the night before, and they were sending someone around 9 am to pick up our luggage. Just after 9, we heard a knock on the door, and there he was. Our bell services luggage mover man, who moved our luggage for us. Or at least moved it to the holding area until it was moved. Whatever his job, he was nice. Thank you, luggage mover man.

It's easy switching, isn't it?

Then we'd go hit EMH at the MK again, because you can't tempt fate too many times, and maybe this would be the night my feet would actually fall off.

You are tempting fate, aren't you?

What kind of shoes were you wearing, anyway?

If you have not yet had the pleasure of interacting with Disney Ducks, let me impart this piece of knowledge your way. They are fearless.

Yes, we also encountered fearless ducks.

Nah, I don't think so. Here's why CBR wasn't our favorite--it's just too huge for us. There are a bunch of villages, tons of buildings, and everything is spread out.

This is also what our friends thought when they stayed there.

The other thing lacking at CBR was something we love in our rooms--the balcony.

Balconies are nice.

Little Meerkats

Love the Meerkats. Years ago, when my husband and I worked at a newspaper together, he jokingly named the department next to us the Meerkats. When we laughed or they perceived something interesting was going on in our department, their heads would lift up over their drafting tables simultaneously.

I love love love the Safari.

Me too. One of my favorites.

So does everyone else on the Dis

Oh.

After de-jeeping,

Good one.

We get food a lot, don't we? Huh.

Doesn't everyone at Disney?

Anyway. Liam gets some teriyaki wings. Q gets nuggets at Restaurantasaurus. I got the honey chicken at Yak and Yeti.

That's a lot of foraging. Did you eat one at a time or did someone's food get cold in transit?

At what point do I give this TR a subtitle about digestive issues? I am so gross.

It's funny!

The Lion King was great, though. We all loved the acrobats. Quinn loved the acrobats so much that as soon as their part ended, he fell asleep.

Love the monkeys.

And the kids actually win.

That's the best when that happens! I love the look of pride on their faces.

Tim comes back, $5 poorer. That $5 bought him four advil. FOUR.

That's crazy even for Disney.

I felt like the Clampetts had come to the Boardwalk. We are such average people, you know, not terrifically wealthy by any stretch of the imagination.

I've felt like that before too.

We walked on down to the lounge, where again I felt like everyone could see right through me, like they knew my net worth and were saying to themselves how ridiculous it was that these average, not rich, run of the mill people were tainting the lounge with their averageness.

But of course no one did. In fact, no one was anything but nice. If they could see through my facade, they didn't say a word.

They may have been feeling the same way.

“HOLY CRAP! YOU GUYS ARE COMPLETE MORONS! TURN AROUND! MORONS, HEY, I'm TALKING TO YOU!!!”

Uh oh.

We get off the bus and walk towards the MK, and wow, it sure seems like a lot of people are leaving the MK, doesn't it? And lots of them are running. Gosh, that's weird.

You're like Dory after the krill go swimming away from the whale behind her saying "Swim away" and she says, "Oh look, krill," totally oblivious to the danger behind her.

As we approach the bag check, the thunder cracks and it starts to rain. And that's when things got kind of scary. A CM hollers “GET TO THE TICKETING GATES!” and basically shoves us over there. No bag check tonight, folks. At the gates, we are told NOT to put our finger on the scanner—just stick the ticket in, grab it and GO.

That must have scary.

THIS STORM IS MASSIVE AND IS NO JOKE AND I AM GOING TO BE TALKING TO MY WEATHER APP PEOPLE.

You go, girl.

So, yeah. The rain pretty much stopped after that, and the Magic Kingdom was virtually empty. They didn't show MMY, but after many announcements about inclement weather causing a delay, did run Wishes around 11:15 pm.

Score!

Don't miss tomorrow, guys. Tomorrow, I'll be doing laundry.

Can't wait!

Great updates!

Oh my gosh! I am seriously laughing out loud at your trip report. Tears were streaming down my face at your green poop comment. I will definitely be on the lookout for it after I try them in two short weeks! Yay!

This made me lol! and snort!

Thanks for the TR! I read all 11 pages of it tonight and now I'm inspired to write my own. I've laughed, I've cried (well my eyes are watering from reading for so long -it's after midnight :surfweb:). Can't wait for the rest and for our trip in November.:)

So. The kids are with my mom. :worship: It is actually QUIET here. Maybe I can actually get some replies done before they come back--with my shrimp tacos!! pixiedust:

Love all of the pictures. Wow about the popcorn cart. I hope that he didn't get in too much trouble for just leaving it like that.

I love the boy's poses. So very cute and so very macho. LOL!!

We love It's A Small World. My son and I always put our arms up like we are riding a roller coaster. LOL! It's something that we've done since he was three. Don't ask why we did it then, because I can't really remember, it's just a tradition of ours. :lmao: Yeah, we are that weird.

Barnstormer is a favorite of ours also. I remember one night at the end of the night my son rode it like 10 times in a row. Finally, they were getting ready to close it down, but told him to wait on. He and the other kids that were on the ride got to ride with the characters. He got to ride with Pooh. Sorry. TMI.... LOL!!

Great update! Can't wait for more!!

How adorable that he got to ride with Pooh!! That is so sweet. What a great memory. :lovestruc

I think it's great that you put your hands up on ITASW. We do lots of silly stuff like that. It's those things that you remember when you're older, and when your kids look back on their vacations.

I was a little worried that the CM running the popcorn cart got in trouble, too--but it really was a terrible storm. Hopefully he had an understanding supervisor!

Yea for having the park to yourselves!:cheer2:

I do not like doing laundry while on vacation, but it must be done! Especially with very wet clothing.:laundy:

Yeah, I am really glad we stuck it out!! It was quite the adventure.

The laundry story is boring, but I'll tell it anyway when I get a chance. Let's just say I got a TON of exercise that day going up and down the halls, on a mission for quarters. :rotfl:

Holy Update Batman!

Great updates!
Yes!! I was thisclose to buying crocs. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure the reason I didn't was because Tim packed dry socks in his backpack so I was able to change into them. Otherwise, no way, I don't even care what color the crocs were, I'd have worn anything. :lmao:

You bet we were calculating how much and what to do to get the kids even on stuffed animals. I was getting really worried! It's nice that things actually work out okay sometimes.

About the CL--yeah, I don't know. I know that whatever was going on, the issues/preconceptions were all mine. Everyone was so nice. But yeah, we stayed at WL last year and I never felt out of place at all. That resort was perfect for us.

BWI would be an awesome place for a honeymoon. Fun, hopping, but also romantic, and near so many great eateries and nighttime activities!! I bet you have some fantastic memories. :)

Just now jumped in. Great storytelling & pics! I'm hooked. popcorn::

I got caught in a violent downpour at MK our first trip...We were stuck riding Peter Pan like 5 times in a row, to stay out of the rain! Thankfully our kids loved it.

hey thanks for joining in! So happy to have you!

Sorry to hear you too were stuck in a downpour but :rotfl: at repeated Peter Pan trips. I do like that ride, though. Five times might have put me over the edge, though... ;)

Oh, absolutely! Doing laundry is hardly my favorite chore, but at least I was at BWI when we did it!

I am pretty self conscious anyway, so walking into a lounge full of what I imagined were ZOMG REALLY RICH PEOPLE!!! (which is ridiculous because we were there and are NOT REALLY RICH PEOPLE) was weird for me.

But the free coffee kind of made up for it. ;)

I do think the only way we'll stay CL again will be at AKL for the sunrise safari. Other than that, we'll probably do deluxe, but just the regular part of the resort. I am so fortunate and happy that we were able to try it, though. :)

CBR really is ginormous. It's so pretty, but it's so incredibly huge!! Just too big for us. Nothing bad, but a matter of personal preference. Isn't it nice that there are so many great Disney resorts to choose from? Even if you're at one that you don't love, it's still nice, and heck, YOU ARE AT DISNEY. :lmao: KWIM?

I can't wait to hear more thoughts on CL at the BW. We are contemplating it for our Nov trip. Holla for having the MK to yourself, boo to the mean people on Small World.

More will be coming!! We did spend more time in the lounge than I had thought we would. It really was super nice, and the CMs are truly one of kind people. So genuine and friendly. :goodvibes

My family would just love getting "stuck" on a ride like this!

My kids would have been fine with it too!

Love the room at Boardwalk. Never stayed there, but we've stayed at Beach Club and Yacht Club. I really like the location of them.

I can't believe the storm you had to stand through! Scary! But, yay for sticking it out, and waiting. Then you had the park to yourself, it looks like!

We did, basically! It was seriously empty. And the rain had cooled everything off, so it was really pleasant. You just had to watch out for the three inch deep puddles that accumulated here and there!

The location of the Epcot resorts is just too fantastic. I liked what I saw of both BC and YC too, just from walking over there/visiting my ILs room. I liked the theme of both of them. All three are great resorts and it just blew me away how easy and quick it was to get to Epcot from the area. It's a grey goose slushie lover's dream.

I stayed in a room just to the right of that stairway, third floor I think. I like Boardwalk, but man some of those hallways just go on and on and on :upsidedow

Loved your update! I bet you fit right in on the CL :cool2:
They do!!! We were fortunate not to be at the far end of one, but Quinn and I got lost on the villas side and yeah, we probably walked half a mile to find our way out of there. :rotfl:

I am sure we fit in okay. :goodvibes Apparently I have more baggage concerning concierge levels than I would have previously thought!!

Oh my gosh! I am seriously laughing out loud at your trip report. Tears were streaming down my face at your green poop comment. I will definitely be on the lookout for it after I try them in two short weeks! Yay!

Can't wait to hear your next installment!

Thanks!! yeah, the green poop was...interesting. I kept googling all day and Tim was like "DUDE IT'S FROM THE MEXICAN PLACE STOP WORRYING" and I'm googling all sorts of worst case scenarios and then by the next day everything down there was, um, fine. ;)

We never had any issues at all getting our luggage moved over to a different resort. I have the utmost confidence that you'll be fine when you switch. It was crazy easy and while I don't know that we'll do a split again, it wouldn't be because there was a problem. It was just...different, I guess, to move around the way we did.

A BC/AKL split sounds absolutely fantastic!! Two awesome resorts!
Joining in! I'm loving your trip so far! I loooooove the Boardwalk, it was my dream resort for years (until I became better acquainted with Beach Club, but BWI is still #2) and your pictures definitely make me remember why I love it. That balcony!

LOVE walking onto headliner rides after a storm. It's so much fun. It reminds me of the trip we took to WDW when I was a kid, and one day it was raining (not t-storms, just rain) and we went to River Country and were practically the only people in the whole place. There was one slide that my brother and I would go on over and over...Up the stairs, down the slide, out of the pool, repeat, repeat, all day. No line, ever.

I hope my kids have some memories like that of our trips, too. :)

Our BWI balcony was just heaven to me. DH preferred the view we had at WL last year (courtyard--could see the geyser) and that was gorgeous as well. They were both serene, in different ways.

I just love the Disney resorts!!

Wow! I'm far behind you prolific thing!
nah, I myself have been a terrible TR buddy and only just caught up. For shame.

It's easy switching, isn't it?
Easy as pie. No complaints whatsoever.

You are tempting fate, aren't you?
Every chance I get.

What kind of shoes were you wearing, anyway?
My Very Cute Sneakers.

Cute, no? They even have orange. ;)

Yes, we also encountered fearless ducks.
They were everywhere.

This is also what our friends thought when they stayed there.
It does sound like a common complaint. It's not like we didn't know it was so huge before getting there--it's just reading about the size and experiencing it were two different beasts.

Balconies are nice.
::yes::

Love the Meerkats. Years ago, when my husband and I worked at a newspaper together, he jokingly named the department next to us the Meerkats. When we laughed or they perceived something interesting was going on in our department, their heads would lift up over their drafting tables simultaneously.
Great mental image! I'm cracking up.

That's a lot of foraging. Did you eat one at a time or did someone's food get cold in transit?
yeah, it was. We kind of ate piecemeal, I guess. Actually, now that I think about it, I ate my honey chicken while I walked. No rest for the weary at Disney.

It's funny!
To you, maybe.

That's the best when that happens! I love the look of pride on their faces.
me, too. So adorable.

That's crazy even for Disney.
Yeah, we were a little bit like OMGWTFBBQ THAT'S OVER A BUCK A PILL.

I've felt like that before too.
From what I've read, it sounds like many people do. At least at one point.

They may have been feeling the same way.
I think you're on to something here.

Yep.

You're like Dory after the krill go swimming away from the whale behind her saying "Swim away" and she says, "Oh look, krill," totally oblivious to the danger behind her.
:rotfl:

That must have scary.
You know, it really kind of was. For CMs to be like GET OVER THERE NOW!! we knew something big/slightly out of the ordinary had to be happening.

Yes! The evening turned out really well, actually, and we all have fond, funny memories of the night.

Can't wait!

Great updates!
Thanks!!

This made me lol! and snort!
Seriously. I let my conscience be my guide, and I couldn't keep quiet about that dreaded side effect. I figure i have no reputation on the DIS, so what do I have to lose? Might as well warn these poor people planning to eat at La Cantina about what they're in for. Because hey, if you know it's coming, it's not so bad.

Thanks for the TR! I read all 11 pages of it tonight and now I'm inspired to write my own. I've laughed, I've cried (well my eyes are watering from reading for so long -it's after midnight :surfweb:). Can't wait for the rest and for our trip in November.:)

Oh, definitely write one!! It's a lot of fun, and I am having a great time remembering aspects of our trip that I might otherwise have forgotten. I really enjoy sharing things that worked for us, as well as things that didn't.

So happy you stopped by and that you've enjoyed the TR so far. I just love when I get into reading something on the web at night and then i look over at the clock and I'm all :scared:

November should be a wonderful time to go, with all the holiday decorations up. Extra magical! pixiedust:

Reputation?

"Hey you know that one TR writer on the dis that ate those tacos?"

"You mean the one with green turds?"

"Ya that one!"

I can hear the water cooler conversations already............

:offtopic:

SURPRISE! This is not a Disney update!!

This update is brought to you by the people who didn't feel like talking about how they spent a good portion of a Disney day doing laundry, so are going to do a real life update instead. Putting off the inevitable, so to speak, as I surely will get to my day of hard labor soon enough.

Anyway, my mom has been here visiting for the past week and a half, and I took the afternoon off yesterday so we could go do fun things. We took the boys to Wildlife West Nature Park, a wildlife refuge sort of place about an hour from our house.

It. Was. Awesome.

I'll tie this in to Disney whenever I can, so I don't lose too many readers. Okay, so you guys may recall that I just love Animal Kingdom. Well, this park is nothing like animal kingdom except for the fact that it has animals. :rotfl: There are no rides, no concessions, it's small, and only has about 20 different species.

But we saw so many, and had a seriously awesome time. And I love how these animals have been rehabilitated and given a second chance at life. :lovestruc So here come some pics. Ready?

Okay, now. On to the animals.

Here we have a bobcat, which I learned is actually not really a danger to humans. In fact, humans are their more dangerous predator. :( Sorry, fluffy.

Can you see me?
IMG_4298.jpg

After just a minute, he came out, as if for a photo op.

Isn't he beautiful?

Liam checking him out.

And then he leaped into the tree in about a nanosecond. It was downright amazing. One second he was on the ground, and the next he was up in the leaves.

Animals are amazing.
IMG_4334.jpg

See him up there?
IMG_4338.jpg

to be continued!

This stuff interests me, especially as to what happened to the animal and how it got its second chance.:)

Next up:
A Rodent of Unusual Size, otherwise known as the Javelina.

This thing scared me half to death when it came out of the back for its photo opportunity.

IMG_4354.jpg

It's like a freaking HUGE HAIRY PIG. OMG.

IMG_4363.jpg

IMG_4377.jpg

After I was sufficiently shaken (not unlike the feeling one has getting off Space Mountain--see what I did there, tying this in to Disney?), we moved on to the wolves.

I think this was the boys' favorite part. There were a ton of Mexican gray wolves out and about, and Liam got lots of great pics (from now on, most of the pics are Liam's, which helped turn his attitude around).

Also, Liam did his Very Important Third Grade Research Project last spring on the Mexican gray wolf, so he was really over the moon to see them in person.

Liam got some nice shots here, I think.

Back here is the coyote they have. This wasn't quite as thrilling, because we live in a really rural area and there are coyotes around all the time, but of course we took pics anyway. ;)
