So, is there? If I'm trying to book SSR (a 2 bedroom) for 14 nights in April next year, do I really need to book day by day or will 11 months from check out date be OK? Is there any advantage to booking day by day?

Two-bedrooms go first everywhere, but I doubt it will be an issue at SSR unless you're going during Spring break. In that case, then yes, you'd be wise to call every day.

No, I'd just wait until 11 months from the final checkout day. I only book day by day for things like GV's on holidays.

I agree with Diane...especially at SSR you shouldn't have a problem.

But if you want to put your mind at ease, you could always call MS on what would be the first booking day of a day by day reservation and ask the CM's advice. They are usually pretty good about telling you if there is plenty of availability or if the day by day strategy is necessary.

I really don't think it will be an issue for you, though. Not only is SSR the largest DVC resort but it doesn't have "room classifications" like the BWV SV or the BCV "2-bed second BR". And with smoking rooms going away, all 2BRs at SSR are truly equal for booking (as are the other room sizes).

I think you'll be fine calling one time 11 months from check out. :)

Unless it is a holiday week, like Easter or Spring Break, there shouldn't be any need to book day by day at SSR. I've never booked day by day at OKW.

I did just one call for a 2br at SSR for Thanksgiving(11/17-11/23) and had no problem, though my call in day was Saturday and the only thing was I was on hold for 15 minutes. I forget the number but there are alot of dedicated 2brs at SSR.

Now I did do day by day at 11 months for Easter at VB because there are only 18 dedicated 2br there(MS advised me to do this). 6 calls and no time on hold(I was surprised as it was the end of the 7 month window for Thanksgiving).

I agree. I just booked a week last week at 11 months (first week of April) from check out for BCV. If it had room you know SSR will.

I called Member Services on a Tuesday for the first 4 nights of my stay in a 1 bedroom at VWL for Spring Break 2008 time (part of the reservation was peak season), at that time I asked the rep if I needed to call day by day for the rest of the reservation - she looked at availability and told me it didn't look like it would be necessary. She was right - I called 3 days later for my last 3 nights and got them just fine. That was my one and only experience calling MS, so I'm not an expert.
