If I book airfare on my own, can we use Disney Transfers to get from the airport to hotel. For example the Marriott in San Juan? Does the Marriott or Disney have transfers to port the morning of the cruise or would we be better to just take a Taxi?

Since Southwest does not fly out of Miami and we would fly a different airline home, can we have Disney make the airline reservation for that leg of the trip and use their transfers to the Miami airport?

Or am I just overthinking all of this and should I let Disney book airfare, transfers and hotel for the entire trip??

Yes, you can book your own flight and use DCL transportation. You just need to add the transportation to your reservation. If DCL transportation is offered the day your arrive, there will be DCL representatives at baggage claim to assist you. As far as Miami, the same rule applies. You can book your own airfare and still use DCL transfers.

I booked the Marriott on my own for an overnight stay after our cruise to San Juan. I could book the Disney transfers to the hotel but for the following day to the airport, I was told I would have to book the hotel through Disney for them to arrange the second transfer back to the airport. Since it was only a matter of about 5.00 Bi cancelled mine and rebooked with Disney.

When we took DCL from San Juan, we just used taxis and Uber. It was super easy and not a problem at all. At the airport there are taxis outside. A worker takes your info (how many travelers, bags, etc.) and shortly thereafter a taxi arrives to take you to your destination. We used Uber from the hotel to the port.

You can book the following Miami excursion (booking is only available on board) if you have a later flight and, after doing a hop on - hop off tour, you get a transfer to FLL.

We used The Limo People for our transfers in San Juan. If I remember correctly, it was $50 per transfer and we used them for airport to hotel, hotel to port and port to airport. They were incredibly professional and always on time. Just wanted to throw that out there if you are pricing out options.

I believe only to Miami Airport, but not 100% certain

Just be aware you can't get an uber at the airport. You can get them everywhere else in San Juan and you can take them to the airport. But you can't take them from the airport.
