Just wondering what people's experience has been with a return flight on a Saturday that departs at 11:30am? Can you easily get from the port to the airport by 10:00-10:15? We would be using a towncar service. I hate being stressed on departure days, so just curious if this is normally feasible.

Thanks for your replies!

:) Hi there. On two occasions we have had absolutely no problem making 11:30 flights. We did use a car service, and skipped breakfast on the ship, instead waiting until we were checked in at the airport. Barring an emergency or unforseen circumstance, you would not have a problem.

Just wondering.. We have a flight about that time..Did you skip breakfast to get in line early to leave?..What time were you off and running for the airport?.I thought if we pick up breakfast at topsiders and eat in room we can still make it???Thoughts on my logic??

I don't think you'll have a problem. We had breakfast at 6:30 that morning (in assigned dining room), drove back to the airport ourselves, dropped the car off and had our 2:30 flight switched to an 11ish flight. BTW we were at the terminal by 9am.

We did skip breakfast. It is not the full breakfast anyway. Instead we grabbed cereal boxes and muffins and got in line to disembark. I am sure you could eat in your room and still be fine. I just know that my kids can be slow, and we have to be up even earlier to clear customs on the ship (canadians) so I would prefer to be checked in and then eat!! :goodvibes

We were off the ship before 8:30 and checked in before 10:00...

We ate breakfast in our assigned dining room, took our time, and we were still off the boat and at the airport by 9:15. I had an 11:55 flight, and I actually tried to see if their was one leaving earlier. I would think that 11:30 would be fine, I personally wouldn't book anything earlier than that.

We even had the late dining both times and both times were able to get on the earlier flight (11:15 am). Had been booked on a 3 pm, but because we were so early and first class, it wasn't a problem. I say go for it!

You can always eat at the buffet for breakfast, that way you could eat aw early as you like and leave. We did this and were off the ship before 8am and to the airport by 9 (using DCL buses)

It seems like we should be ok with the 11:30am flight. Any experiences that would give me reason to worry?

To answer your question, yes it's risky. Is it too risky? Just depends. Disney must recommend no flights before 12:30 pm for a reason, I suspect based on experience.
We barely made our 12:35 flight. We lined up at 8:30 to get off the ship, took until 9:15 to get off the ship. At the airport by 10:15, but faced a 90 minute wait to clear security. They were already boarding our flight when we got to the gate. A whole lot closer than I care for.

We are also catching a 11:30am flight out in early May. We have done this before with no problem. We just ate at the buffet at Topsiders and then to our waiting Town Car. There we be eleven of us this time!

We had a flight that left at 3:00 pm, so weren't in any rush....but...

We enjoyed an early breakfast. Then the kids had to use the bathrooms. The lines were really long - it took 20 minutes to get through the bathroom. The line to get off the ship wasn't short, but moved fast, maybe another ten minutes. We found our luggage fast, but....and here is where the biggest delay was....we were missing a bag....we were supposed to meet our towncar at 8:30, got out of there around 9:00am, ran to the towncar to tell him not to leave us, ran back to the airport stand to check luggage .... another half hour line. Got our luggage checked and were on our way to the airport. Arrived at the airport around 10:30 (we did need another potty break for the preschooler during the car ride). And.....there was a hour and twenty minute line for security.

Now, if we had an earlier flight, we would have grabbed rolls from BBB, filled out the missing luggage form and not worried about the bag, pottied the kids in the terminal, gotten to the airport a good hour earlier and been able to make it through a long security line.

You shouldn't worry about it, if you have main dinner seating you can eat @ 8:30 and they will have you out of there by 9, giving you about an hour to get to the airport(just about driving distance) and then head off home :)

We had late seating, ate breakfast went down to customs got our luggage hopped on a DCL bus went thru security and were sitting in ATAs terminal waiting to board by 10:30.....for our 12:15 flight........
