Hello all....only 5 short days to go but I wonder if anyone is concerned about what happened on the Magic this past week...it seems everyone has heard about it...and may I say I think the media seems to blow everything out of proportion....many of the people from reading the threads seem to feel that Disney was not upfront with them.....and has anyone been contacted by Disney who is sailing on the 11/30 cruise? I was jumping up and down before but now my enthusiasm seems to be a little tempered......
Tom

Tom,

A little concerned, I have alternate plans....called Disney and they told me that they will not know until Friday if they are going to offer us the option to get a full refund, disney vaca, or rebook

Lori

Just keeping my fingers crossed that this week's sailing on the Magic goes smoothly. Que sera, sera!!!!!

oh Tom - you were making me feel better - what is this thread?
And Lori - I hadnt heard that we are needing to wait till Fri to know if we are sailing or not!
We leave the house on THURS! Ok the park hoppers will get packed, Im already planning on Disney outfits, and I already have our plan of attack packed from last year just in case this happened. I cant see myself getting on an airplane early Fri morn not knowing where Im going when I get off the plane!! This has been in the back of my mind since 11/16 got sick and I was finally pushing it farther back yesterday. Now what? Who else will already be in FL by Fri?

We're booked on points. Our last day to roll them over is 11/30! That doesnt give us much time. I dont want to loose 318pts because Disney cancels!

I think DCL realizes they will have a big mess on their hands if they cancel before Thanksgiving. If they wait till Fri at least the DVC office will be open.

Michelle - what are you doing about your points if they cancel?
We booked on last years 170 and this years 146. I already rolled over the remainder of this years and booked next year.

Barb....no problem here....we are going no matter what...and I don't think there is a snowballs chance in hell that Disney will cancel this cruise...if they were going to cancel any it would have been this weeks...and the reports that seem to be coming out of the ship seems to be everything is OK...I was just concerned becausse the media seems to be making such a big thing of it...I WILL see you guys on Saturday!
Tom

Barb,

If they cancel I'm sure they will allow you to take care of your points, regardless of the banking deadlines. Please just relax. Everything seems to throw you into a tizzy. I know that this is all confusing and frustrating but you have to just go with the flow. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it right now.

I am not worried, but that is mainly because I am trying to think positively. If it is canceled, then we will book a last minute trip to the Caribbean and have lots of fun! Obviously we hope it isn't canceled, but we are ready if it is. I have checked out some web sites with last minute deals and see that there is a lot to pick from.
Don't worry guys. I haven't heard of any sickness reported this week... have you?

I know it must be hard but you are causing yourself undo stress.
The reason Disney cannot commit to whether the cruise would be cancelled is because they are not fortune tellers. Think about it how would you feel if they said "yup we are going to cancel it-just as a precaution" and no one got sick you'd be furious as to why did they cancel my cruise. On the other hand if they PROMICED you we are postive no one will get ill this week and your trip is definately on and then a bunch of people got sick on thursday and they had to cancel you would be livid for being lied to.

Honestly I am not concerned that our trip will be cancelled. I agree with Tom that if a trip was going to be cancelled it would have been this one going on now. So far so good that no one is ill. (or at least no one that we have heard about)

They are not trying to give you a hard time they just can't tell the future. I would think by weds. you will know if people are getting sick again.

Ok Im going to take it 1 day at a time. Im on vaca at 5pm Wed and Im going to enjoy my Thanksgiving Day. Hope you guys do too. Think of it this way Im on my way to an adventure!!

Barb-

Don't worry, all seems okay still.
The guy at Disney's hotline told me that they cannot make any assumptions about our cruise until they see if anyone gets sick. As far as they were concerned, they were scrubbing the ship Saturday and hopefully that would be the end of it. He could make no promises only because Holland America scrubbed and the next set of people still got sick, that's why the decided to dock. He made no mention of that but he did say that if there was sickness on the boat, Disney would wait until Friday to make the determintation if they would let you cancel or reschedule without any penalties. I think if it was up to them, even if there was sickness, they would scrub and take off again but I think that is something that the board of health then determines.

Anyway, we too will be in Florida already, we are going on Thursday but I am not worried, it there is sickness and I decide not to go we're gonna rent a car and drive down to Miami or Key Biscayne, whatever the issue, just have a good time. The only reason I would cancel is because I have a 3 year old. No vacation is fun when a little guy gets sick. Your son is pretty big and I'm sure for the most part self sufficient so pack your cruise wear and enjoy...you've been waiting a long time

Lori

just got even more concerned - there has been a report that 11/23 has started getting sick - 25 reported so far

My goodness I am getting quite concerned about you. Has the CDC or Disney made an offical comment about sick pasengers? From what I saw one person (who may be uninformed) states 25 people are sick. I also have heard that 50 people sick is average for a cruise so they are still "under budget". I am worried about you that you are going to lose it, please take some deap breaths and unless you hear anything offical know that things sometime are not as they may appear to you! HUGS and DEEP BREATHS please try to chill!

We are going to have an even better time next week, because of the uncertainty of whether our cruise is on or not. So, when it is actually on (which it will be) then we will have a blast!

Hello all...by the way...4 days to heaven....but seriously...I called DCL tonight and asked what was going on....and she said all seems to be well with the ship so far....a few people have experienced some symptoms of the virus....but they have no intention on canceling...just bring vitamins and hand sanitizer....she said people who vacation tend to push the envelope...party long and hard and get run-down....so the need for vitamins....she sounded very positive and I expressed a concern that the cruise may be canceled...she said we would be notified asap if it was going to happen...but it is very very unlikely.
Sooooooooo....let's get ready to party!
Barb...all is well......
Tom

good morning all - I slept almost 10hrs last night! Never thought Id be doing that 2days before vaca but the stress is getting to me.
Logged on this morn to a reply from goblueguy's DS - cant wait to show my DS. Sounds like they will have fun. Thanks
In less than 18hrs Im on vaca! As DS told his classmates yesterday "Im either going to FL or to the Caribbean!"

And Tom - are you saying if I bring vitamins I wont have hangovers? Gonna go pack some more - lol Do you think that's gonna be us partying hearty?
See everyone Sat - can we drink in the terminal? Here goes
:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Good idea re: vitamins. I think I am going to do everything to try to not let the "bug" get us. I will bring vitamins and also Purel sanitizing clothes and maybe some antibacterial soap for the kids to use. I also believe in Zinc for colds, it wouldn't hurt to start taking it... you never know, it might help build the immune system... can't hurt!
Yeah! I am positive that we are going now!!!!

Hi Everyone. I know I've been kind of quiet, but I have been reading your posts. I am trying not to be concerned, but it is hard not to be. Our group of 21 is going on the Magic whether it is to party or to participate in the sanitation process. There is NO way we aren't boarding the Magic this Saturday.

I called the CDC today to find out what are the pre-requisites for cancelling a sailing. All of the inspectors were out, so I never did talk to them. Does anyone know the answer to this question? Is there some magical (no pun intended) number of sick people which would cause cancellation?

Caroline, it's actually up to the cruise line unless there was some catastrophic reason that would cause the CDC would stop them from sailing. The CDC actually did NOT order Holland America to cancel the sailing where they are currently scouring the ship. That was HAL's decision. I'm sure any decision to cancel or not cancel this sailing would be DCL's decision as well.

not that I want anyone's cruise cancelled - I really honestly dont
but maybe if they have to cancel a cruise it can be before people actually leave their homes - cancelling after people leave their houses and fly to FL puts them all without a roof over their heads! some advance notice would be appreciated and yes i know that's not always possible
not only are we looking at the possibility of our cruise being cancelled but there is a good chance we will have no where to stay! I called DVC and there is not alot of availability anywhere on wdw property
