11/ 30 / 2008 / Where's my peeps?

Has anyone ever made a Fish Extender? I was just wondering how much fabric it took and what you used to make it stronger. I know very little about sewing, but my mother is a pro so I am sure she will help. i am just so excited about this I want to get started and I just don't know where! to start! Thank you so much.... :-):cool1:

4happybogles-we are right next door from each other!! Wife and I are in 6610 and our kids are right across from us in 6611!

That is so cool!! Oh it will be nice to know there are good people next door!! :-) This should make the fish extenders easy for us :-) I sure hope my kids don't drive you too nuts. They are really good kids, it's just their first time and we have no idea how they are going to respond! I am sure they are going to love it, but you just never know when they are 2 and 4!:yay:

well disneyfun1 kids are 13(DD) 16(DS me) 17(dd) 17(ds)

we do order room service at 1:00 AM

hope we dont bug you

My DH made the Fish Extender posted on Page 9. It is 27 inches long. The top part is 9 inches long and each of the 3 pockets are 6 inches long. The entire FE is 8 1/2 inches wide. After he had each of the 3 pockets made, he ran a binding all the way around the entire thing. He actually made 3 because we travelled on our first 3 day cruise with 2 other couples. We put stuff in the FEs each day. The letters & I think the patch we got at Joanne's fabrics.

I am so looking forward to seeing everybody on the cruise -- it will only be our 2nd cruise. We will be celebrating our 25th anniversary (1 month early).

:grouphug: OK guys! Here is a list of all of the "FE" participants so far...

jentydoug
disney1990
hal001
disneyfunlover
jennybinflorida
jlw0820
mcnoon

Looks like the group is growing! I think this is really going to be fun for everyone! Yeah!:flower3:

Hey Jenny can you update the FE list? I think we have new people added. Also can we get cabin numbers so that we know where to go and aren't running around on decks we don't need to? Thanks!:goodvibes

Just noticed that disney1990 will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary (i-month early)!

Not sure if bonine is something we can get in the UK  but I should manage to get ginger pills :)

Hopefully all will be fine and I wont get sick,

Dawn

FYI to all intersted: Bonine is a US brand name for the drug meclizine (i think its spelled meclozine in the UK). its pretty standard for nausea so should be available in pharmacies in UK but probably by another brand name (SeaLegs, Dizmiss or Antivert maybe) If you ask the pharmacist for meclozine s/he should know just what you're talkin' about. Makes lots of people real sleep y tho :faint: If you think u might need another option just ask me when we see each other on the ship.

p.s. we booked late so we are in cabin 2642 i think and the ILs are sequestered to cabin 2650.

FYI, Disneyfunlover is not celebrating 25th anniversary. this is the cabin for our kids, while we are directly across from them. If anything, we may be celebrating a birthday for DS who turns 16 about a month before we sail, and another for DS that turns 18 about 2 weeks after the cruise.

thanks.

I was just reading through some other threads to get ideas for my fish extender. I notice most of the groups found a common meeting point to take a picture at sometime during the cruise. I thought this would be great, sorry I am a scrapbooker and I love pictures that hold memories. I was thinking we could meet toward the end of the trip, meet each other, and get a cool group photo. If those participating are interesting I would be willing to set a place and time.:cool1:

They also talk about giving to just adults or just kids, any thoughts on that? I think it would be fun to give to both, or just give something that would work for anyone... There is just a ton of information out there. One group played tag, which sounds like it would work better on a longer cruise. They have also talked about themed days and so much more. Anyone have any thoughts about this? I am just so excited about doing this I thought I would try and get organized now!!

If you need an idea for a quick and easy FE, use a stocking!! I just found one that is really cute and it's perfect for that time of year. I little puffy paint, some stickers and you are done!

Paul and I are up for anything - :thumbsup2
We're even trying figure out how to get ourselfs a fish extender -
but we don't sew (except for wild oats ;) )- and the eBay one is $35 bucks -
that seems like a lot for a glorified pocket organizer.
Hopefully we'll be able to pull something together.

there has been some talk on and off in the thread about a meeting but no one has been able to take the ball and run. :confused3 i've been known to do some scrapbooking too so i feel ya:hug: We want pix!!

i know that my kids would love to get to know some other kids before the cruise and meet up once we board the ship. They tend to be a little shy in large groups as first and knowing other kids beforehand will take the nerves out of it a little i think.

just a suggestion: before the castoff folks are finding their luggage, getting oriented, etc and everyone has to do the life jacket thing. so maybe a bit after cast off would be better time to meet. what time is first seating dinner? would it be possible in between castoff and first dinner? i think there is a departure party on deck 9 during that time so maybe finding a spot right around pluto's or pinocchio's would work?

i'm actually trying to get out of the house now to get to the fabric store to start our FE.:yay:

This will be our first cruise, we have had it booked since Feb of this year and it seems to be taking forever to get here. We are so excited and can't wait to be seasoned cruisers. It will be myself, my husband and our two boys, 2 and 4. :-) :cheer2:

welcome aboard! we have a DD who is 4 yrs old and would love to play with your DS! i think there a few others on this thread in this age group too so hopefully if we can find each other....:flower3:
