Wendy:How does it work for manditory evac. if you work in the hospitals-I mean-do they evac all the patients and all the staff goes too-are some staff required to stay and staff the hospitals?? How does that work???

Wow...wonder how they decide what staff must stay and who doesn't-I know she isn't just one of the staff respiratory therapists so guess that is why she has to stay...

No Okie all essential personnel, nurses, respiratory therapist, managers must stay for the duration of the storm. We try for a Cat 3 or higher to get the sickest patients moved out to another facility out of the danger zone but we and the rest of the patients stay put. Our department works on the if you are scheduled to work then you must be there or lose your job motive. This is like my 5th hurricane at this hospital, most of the time its a giant sleepover for 2 nights, for Katrina we were there with no water or air conditioning for 6 days beore we were able to evacuate all our patients out,we are hoping Gustav is not a repeat of that. Since I am scheduled for Monday and Tuesday I will have to show up at the hospital sunday and those people will get to go home and get there houses in order then once the storm passes they come relieve us. I am thinking I'll be there sunday-thru probably thursday if it hits tuesday..I am still in denial and am hoping it turns and goes down towards Mexico.

Wendy I sent you a PM. KEEP SAFE Spent yesterday at on the ballfield Rudi tryed out for baseball Mid. school and our local team He did great he finds out today. Also Brittani got hurt at school. (A cut on her foot) not bad but if she sees her own blood down she goes!!!!!!! Her teacher said I did not know she could get any whiter
Well off today toget gas and some food in we have one heading our way also but nothing liks Wendy. So lets all pray it keeps going west.

I worked in a hospital for a while...just a registration person in the ER, however, I know that we had disaster drills and they had the people come in acting like there was a plan crash and had them taged and put them in certain sections and we had to keep track of this....but actually, I guess I never realized the full impact of a real disaster.....so I hope that it does move down toward Mexico and it by-passes you...
