:offtopic: Sorry all ... I'm doing a little research and have a question.

Yes, I'm the one: the only person in the country still wearing gas permeable contacts.

I'm checking out the monthly extended wear (night/day) soft lenses (silicone hydrogels) and since I've never worn soft contacts before, can anyone offer any information and experience about how they are to wear, clean, what if you rub your eye with them in (I know what to do with my GPs), don't they rip easily ... just anything at all you can share.

Shell...If you take this same question and put it on the Main board (not the main cruise board, but the main discussion board) you will have a ton of answers.

Jeff, has your famiy done the aquarium and shipwreck museum. We never tire of the aquarium. We actually buy the membership so that we get in free or 1/2 price to alot of other aquariums. They do a presentation there where you can touch a shark, there is a touch tank for like starfish, crabs, and the like.

No we haven't. We have a great aquarium here that has everything from Polar Bears to Penguins to dolphins and it has the touch tank too. So I'm not sure that the kids would get excited about it. I will look into it though so we can figure something out for KW. Mina and I have been to the Keys a lot (before kids) so to be honest I could do without this stop and have another day at sea....but we'll figure something out.

Hey Shell
I use the one-day throwaways because I dont' wear them all the time. I never had a hard lens in my eye - I can't imagine it. I have really screwy eyes and some of the soft kinds are good and others really bother me. If you've had hard lenses I'm suspecting you will adapt very easily to soft lenses.

Check this out, someone posted this on the main cruise board. It's about Chankanaab...I didn't know Chankanaab does their dolphin swim in an enclosed area. I was afraid of my DD doing this thinking the dolphin can take her out far away from us. LOL But now I know they are enclosed in a 'caged' area I feel better.

I have only worn the soft lenses...let me see..I have the monthly ones..wear and dispose..
when you rub your eye...it depends...they dont "rip" but sometimes they move...but will go back into place. I have very rarely ripped them taking them out..in all the years I have worn them..maybe once or twice...cleaning I use this clear care...it comes with a container. When you put your lenses in there you have to leave them for about 6 hours...before you can put them back in your eyes...very easy. I have to say that sometimes, they can be a pain putting in...they stick at times to your finger and wont go in the eye...but nothing that bad that would make me go back to glasses full time.

Mornin kids!

I can answer the nanaheads question Joanne.... when this marvelous group of folks started posting the group was dubbed the wild turkeys and then....., someone who really really enjoyed the dancing banana smilies started posting them in droves. Other loveable (and somewhat gullible) members followed suit and the name progessed to Wild Turkeys and Bananaheads. The turkey thing was dropped as everyone seemed to enjoy the latter name better except for Linda (banana daquari, dear? I can arrange one to be sent to ya). The bananahead was shortened to nanahead and thats what we have today. No hidden agendas, no nasty or evil intents---just a buncha potassium rich nanas. The name also has relative origins to the Jimmy Buffett groupies ---the parrotheads. I'm thinking of doing a wikipedia entry....

Btw....pic of the day means everyone needs to post one now and then!
Here's one of Woos favorites!

Shell, For me, there was a BIG difference. I have CL but rarely wear them. The difference I found was the crispness of my sight. Especially after I wear them for a while. I notice them more if my eyes dry out. Don't know if I've rubbed my eye or not :confused3 Actually, I think the cleaning is easier. I've had them rip but it was usually at the end of the cycle. I just got another one. I also had tinted hard lenses and going to ones with nontint was blinding :cool2: If I have to wear sunglasses, they might as well be the regular glasses that tint by themselves!

Hi everyone,
I just go thome from spending all morning grocery shopping and laundry. I just now sat down.

Pretty quiet here today.
well I am off to watch a video tape of our first ever DCL cruise.

Back later,

Hey New York Area Nanaheads
My oldest DD (Elizabeth) is turning 10 in a couple of weeks. All she wants for her birthday is to go to the Big Apple for a weekend. It all started because she wanted to go to American Girl Place - but of course is now not interested in that anymore, though we will probably go there - just not do any of the formal stuff like the tea party and such.

We are hoping to make the trip happen in mid-October. We plan to get tix in advance for a show (Wicked or Lion King - her 2 requests) and then try for TIX booth for another. We plan to go out to the Statue of Liberty. We plan to play in Central Park (we are staying at the Jumeirah- the former Westin - Essex House on Central Park South). She wants to see the big Toys R Us store in Time square and we'll go into the Plaza since she used to read all the Eloise books. she wants a frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity (my fault as I raved about it from a previous trip). What else should we plan?
