Kathy, I'm around just busy. I've been playing toontown and have met some mom toons and it is alot of fun! Also, I've been sucked into Facebook. Kathy and Jaime can we get you on too? That's where Melanie is! It is snowing lightly not amounting to much--just a nuisance. By the way, Skylar turns 13 tomorrow! Where has all the time flown? Chow!

Wow Greg that is a VERY generous offer and I really can't believe that Disney made an offer that big. I think I told you that we had one really bad experience with Disney and we sent a letter of complaint, got a call from a very nice person who offered to let us use a "special" number for our next trip to make sure the reservation was as we had wanted it. But with that special number we couldn't use our AP discount or anything else so all in all it was a pretty bad "make up" offer. A 7 day hopper pass for everyone in the family. That's gotta be worth around $2 K.

Hi Jeff,

I think the Lady that called me from Disney yesterday didn't believe me at first when I explained to her all the things that happened and went wrong while we were there.

She had me fax copies our of tickets to her so she could "track" our movement from park to park. Then she looked at our reservations and charges made to my credit card.

After an hour or so she called back and apologized and said she had investigated the claims I made and determined that it was Disney's fault and tried to explain to me that there was another "Greg Campbell" at WDW that week and how our reservations got "mixed up" with his??!

So basically Disney was making unauthorized charges to my credit card for another Greg Campbell without my consent! (I totally don't understand how that should even be possible?!)

Anyway, I appreciate that they called and are trying to correct the mistake, but even if they offered to buy our airfare plus give us another 7 day hopper pass and give me an ultra exclusive unlimited fast pass so I don't have to stand in line for anything (if such a thing exists) I still wouldn't want to go back. Disney just wasn't our cup of tea. :confused3

Now if they let me exchange them for DCL reservations....we are so there!! :lmao:

Ya, I know most of you reading this are gasping right now thinking I'm crazy. :lmao:

Hi Jeff,

Ya, I know most of you reading this are gasping right now thinking I'm crazy. :lmao:

Not really. If it isn't your cup of tea, it just isn't. As a huge fan of the mouse, I'm just sorry that this happened to you on your first try. I'd probably feel the same way had we had that experience. For us, Disney really is a magical place where the real world disappears for a day or a week. Even last week with the HUGE crowds, we found magic every single day and had a better time than I thought was possible given the crowds. Truly I wish more people felt the way that you did so that it wouldn't be so darned crowded all the time! :rotfl:

We will be back there in April - during Easter - another CRAZY Time of the year but we are sandwiching the trip around a 3 night cruise so we really really can't wait for that!

Hi Christine,
Thanks for all the nanas. I know we are way past the goal for this thread. I just wanted to see how many we could actually get if most prople posted them.

It has been amazing what we have done!!

Are you leaving friday for DL or Saturday??
I havnt been there since I was 14 years old. I imagine it has changed quite a bit since then!

Hi Jeff,
wow you are brave going at Easter.
We use to love the Easter parade at MK but they dont have it any more.

We did a 3 day and got home on Easter 32 years ago. The eather was perfect and going to Nassau the seas are usually calmer.

Cant wait to get back to Florida so we can do a few more 3 day cruises.
Kathy

Hi Dawn,
sounds like your having fun. I know lots of nanaheads are on face book.
I just havnt taken the time to check it out yet. I have had several people invite me over but just havnt done it.
I will check it out one of these days.
Skylar will be a teenager huh, boy time flies doesnt it!!!
5 more years and he will be on his own, legally anyway;)

Then off to college, job, marriage and you will be a great grandma!!
Boy it didnt take long to age you did it:lmao: :lmao:
Kathy

Well at least now you know what happened, even though thats no excuse.
One idea might be if they give you some free or highly discounted lodging for August. Sea World isnt that far via the freeway. Perhaps that would save you from paying for another place.

Then sell the tickets if you want.

I know its hard to believe but what happened to you is highly unusual. It really was. I feel so badly it happened on your first visit so WDW leaves a bad taste in your mouth because it really isnt like that all the time.

It can be so much fun, just like the other attractions. I hope someday you will give it another try, without it being a peak holiday season and go with an open mind, I think you'll be pleasantly surprized.
Let Dawn or i be your guide!!

At least you know they took your complaint seriously and did investigate the whole situation. A lot of places would have just let it go after all this time.

kathy

Hi Kathy,

Ya, now I know what happened (I guess?) Still can't believe that something like that CAN happen...especially with Disney?! :confused3

It did make me feel good to know that I wasn't going crazy...that they really did "mess up".

I'm sure it will be a very long time before we would even consider going back to WDW. The first time I went to Disneyland was in 1988 and I didn't go back again until 2003. :lmao:

Is there such a thing as "off season" at WDW? :lmao: We thought between Thanksgiving and Christmas was suppose to be WDW slowest times. :confused3

I think an important lesson we learned about ourselves at WDW is that we don't like spending our vacation with 100,000 other people standing in line trying to be entertained by the same things. We prefer smaller less crowed atrractions! :rotfl:

We also learned that we're a "high adrenaline" family that likes roller coaster!! The taller, the faster, the scarier, the better! :rotfl2:

Nicole got hooked on "The mummy returns" ride at Universals studios and that one scared the crap out of me!! :scared1: :rotfl2:

Brayden couldn't get enough of the Jurassic Park ride! :lmao:

Janel, Chayce and myself loved the Hulk at Islands of Adventure and the Kracken at Seaworld! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

We had to pull Holly away from Dr. Suess land at Universal kicking and screaming. :lmao:

I guess we'll see what the future brings. :thumbsup2

Greg,
if you like coasters, go to Busch Gardens in Tampa next time. It is owned by Sea world and is very nice.

They have lots of coasters, plus animals for the younger kids and a sky tram over the animals which is fun for everyone. Plus they have a bird aviary, and bumper cars. The yhave a huge wooden coaster which is bumpy but fun.
They also have one , the name escapes me but it is floorless and hangs at the top of the highest hill, then releases you to fall down it.

Check it out on line. Its a great family park and if you go on a weekday its not really that crowded. It is a couple of hours down the freeway away from all the tourist areas. spent the night in the area so you dont have to drive the same day your in the park.

Kathy

,There are lots of other fun things to do but they are not thrill places.
Cypress gardens has old time kiddie rides and a fun but small water park.

Gatorland is just like it sounds, you can easily do it in 1/2 a day

Holy lands is educational and very interesting. Plan on 5 or 6 hours if you see the presentations. Kids sometimes get bored there.

Gosh my mind if blank but about an hour from our house is another attraction where they have glass bottom boats and you see fish, gators, shipwrecks from filming movies. Some animals natural to Florida, some shows, a jeep ride with monkeys tht started from 2 being left after filming Tarzan with Johnny Weismuller movies. Also make creature from the Black Lagoon there too.
It is never crowded and is a unique place to see, a leisurely day and inexpensive. They often have 1/2 price deals on line.
I'll have to ask Greg the name of it. It will drive me crazy trying to think what its called.

Not thrilling but it is interesting and fun to go and see for a less hectic day.

Wonderland I think its called by Sea World is a huge hands on museum place that kids seem to love. The building looks like it is upside down. You may have driven past it when you went to Discovery cove.

So there are less crowded palces but they arnt the thrill places.

all waterparks are crowded and you will see mini golf everywhere!!

I havnt been there since they put in the Simpson ride, it was Back to the Future and it was a good ride.

I love the Terminator 3D. I forgot all about it. I love the mix of live action and the 3D film. It gets pretty loud but really an excellant show!!

Jaws is corny but still a classic and easy for any age to do. Shrek was ok, but not as good as I had hoped.

Twister was fun if your in the front row it is much more effective though.

I dont have guts enough to do Spiderman on the other side. My entire family loves that ride.

While standing in line for Toy Story Mania which is currently my favorite WDW ride of all, a guy said he loved it but that his favorite ride in Orlando was the Simpsons Ride.

We may have to finally try Universal when we are at WDW in June. I'm not sure if I posted it here, but Elizabeth is in a performance dance group this year and they have been invited to dance at Disney. They will be dancing at Downtown Disney sometime between June 20 and 24. They also are going to dance at Seaworld (we've never been here either - just in San Diego) during that same time period. Then we are going to stay at AKV for the rest of the week and maybe it will be a good time to try Universal for one day.

I have been to Universal in California many times but never this one.

We found last year to be really busy too...we also found last week of September busy:confused3 But last week of January was pretty good and the last week of April/ first week of May we walked on every ride no wait and the best part was the weather was perfect.

Ok,
a question for those who use credit cards for points and perks.

we have the Disney chase and it gives 1% back with Disney points which we use on the cruise. You can only use them at Disney themed places.

We, (meaning I do all the reasearch), UGH!! am looking for a new card that offers cash back NOT air miles or gift cards.

I want one with a higher percentage than we have now and cash back. I have seen them from 2% to 5% but some have catches to them, when you read the fine print.
Also NO annual fee.
Everyone wants the lowest percentage rate but we pay it off each month so that isnt a huge issue.

I want the cash back to use for vacations. Some give 2% for gas & Groceries but not the discount super markets and weird things like that. Of course everything else is 1% standards. I am working towards the 2010 cruise with this.

Ok, here is the question.

Do you have a cash back credit card that you are happy with and would recommend??

I am looking for some advice here before I pick one to apply for. I meet the qualifications for excellant credit for some companies and only good credit on others. They all look for something different on how they base your credit, not just your credit score.

i figure the gas to move back to Florida for 2 vehicles will give us a great boost for points.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.Kathy

I think your family would love Universal. They have attractions for all ages.
it really takes a day to do each side unless you want to run all day long.

I loved the ET ride until I got stuck once for 45 minutes next to him beating on a drum!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Sea Wolrd is great fun too. DONT miss Clyde and Seymore show!!!
