11/27/04 the sequel.....

Oh Jesse! Your poor family! One illness after another. Tell DGM that everyone on your cruise is praying for her. :grouphug:

Glad to hear your mom is on the mend. Tell her to hurry up and recooperate so she can enjoy the cruise. ::yes::

Jesse--I'm so sorry to hear about your DGM. It's been a difficult few weeks--we'll keep your DGM and especially YOUR FAMILY in our prayers for strength and healing.

--Curt

SandyNY--welcome to the boards. Although with three weeks to go, you might not have time to read all 67 pages, I was told (and I'm new as well, so VERY gullable) that there would be an essay test with questions like "Who joined the group on 10/28/04?" and "What was the text of dzneprincess' message at 4:42 p.m. on 8/15/04?", but that was just rumor! With only three weeks to go, I'm excited to meet all of these wonderful folks. They've been invaluable in their advice--and cheering me up on some pretty stressful days! I can rarely go without a DIS fix at least twice per day.

--Curt

tracey--9 hours in a plane? I cannot imagine that! We'll keep our fingers (and toes if we can manage it) crossed for you.

--Curt

Jesse - sorry to hear the bad news about your DGM. She is in our prayers. But glad to hear that you mother is home and on the mend.

No Curt ... the test is not a rumor. It's true. You have to know everyone's name, when they joined our group, their favorite color and how many kids they have and more. Start studying. LOL

Tracy - we'll miss you for the last 2 weeks. But aren't you the lucky one to get started on vacation early!!!

Everyone - Matt (DS5) got his post card from Mickey yesterday. He was excited to get a post card of Mickey and Miinnie on the ship. DH was curious about where it came from. But guess who was the MOST excited ... well, of course ... me!!! If you don't know - you can request a post card be sent to your kids. There's a thread about it. Ask if you can't find it. But you better do it soon.

Diane

I can't sit still lately (except to read our posts) ....

Jessegirl, Sorry to hear about your DGM, i lost mine recently and these guys on here were awesome with their support and prayers, i hope it gives you as much comfort as it did me.
Sending my thoughts and prayer

Curts, thanks, i really hate flying, you may not believe this but its the truth, i keep my fingers crossed the whole time i'm up there, i even eat my dinner with them crossed, i get some funny looks but i dont care cos everytime i do try to uncross them the plane judders!!!

Can someone send a weather report early next week, just to check i'm packing the right stuff!!! 2 jumpers, 1 long sleeved top and a 100 t-shirts & shorts so far!!!

I read a thread saying MK is opening till midnight Thanksgiving week & that there expecting huge crowds!!!
Also read Disney may be going on strike:eek:
Lets hope they dont.

jessiegirl:hug:
tracey:bitelip: <------dont do that on the plane do this -------->:drinking1
CUrt, that was no joke, you are expected to know this thread inside and out, I will be passing out tests at our DIS meet:teacher: any and all who fail, MUST contribute $100 towards my 05/27/06 cruise, after all this is my thread::yes::

I hope the test is an Open thread test -better get the laptop charged up.

Jessegirl - glad to hear your mum is doing better did they take out her gallbladder by a laprascope (in other words did she come home with three small bandaids or one large bandaid? When they do the laprascopic one the recoup time is a lot shorter. Here is praying and hope for your grandmother - so many cancers are beaten everyday now.

Curt - we lost our game- against the kids that won the division title last year. There were three kids who had to weigh in their underware since they can not be over 135 lbs. (that is a big 10 year old!). Pretty interesting they check weights and birth certificates. But the good news is all but five of the kids are coming back next year.

Amanda - can't fail the test - I might want to book another cruise for myself!

I need to go find a garment bag but don't feel like going out shopping - what's a girl to do?. I need to go to Kohl's anyway to find a couple of picture frames.

Tracey - I am like that flying too except I keep everything crossed on take-off and landing. Thank goodness my flight is only 1 1/2hrs.

I think I need a nap - been up since 5.30 - which is usually sleeping in for me. Have good day everyone!

april it WILL NOT be an open thread test, if I catch you cheating I will :badpc: :badpc: :badpc:
Sorry the kids lost, but come one you know you are also having a big relief sigh too! LOL

 Amanda, I've been trying to study for this test but my eyes are bloodshot! lol

I do know that Curt is Snow White with his gaggle of kids.

When is it too early to pack? I want to pack now but DH won't get the suitcases out of the attic for me.

We are in late seating for dinner and Room 7578

Sandy that is no excuse!!!!!!!pirate: Dont make me :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: or worse yet :mickeybar <----do that to your mickey bar or even worse:boat: <----make you contribute to my next cruise
I am with your DH about the packing, it is too early, I am gathering right now. I am a gatherer....I do not pack until the night before we leave and then I stress my self out, but hey it wouldnt be vacation any other way.
BTW I have a gagglette of kids, nothing compared to CurtS gaggle, but a gagglette is nothing to sneeze at either.....
Hey I think we have lost izzi somewhere a few pages back.............Bob, oh Bob are you bailing out on us? Have we scared you away? He brought his kookiness to our pleansant thread and then disappeared:teeth: Hey Bob, that is Bob with an O, right?princess:

OOPs edit to add, apparently I cant count, NO AMANDA 3,000 does not come after 2499...............Oh vey

Well guys - I think the countdown thing worked - Thanks!

Amanda- no tests and no stress on this cruise. I'm already having nightmares like we get on the ship and who's on the ship but our psycho neighbors that fight with everyone on the street.
AAAAAAAGH.

If I don't pack early I make these lists in my head while I'm trying to sleep. I know it's still too early but I do need to clean the summer clothes out of my drawers to make room for the sweaters.

It will be lovely to be in the sun, relaxing while my jealous friends at home are freezing their butts off.

Hi Amanda I will admit that I am happy that football season is over since I wasn't really happy about the long drive tomorrow:rolleyes1 but now we have to catch up with Cub Scouts for Monday. How do you guys with more than two kids keep track of everyone's comings and goings? I go nuts during the week trying to get just two kids get to their appropriate places.
*****Calgon take me away!!!!!!!!!!!********************

april the only thing my 3(4th is only a yr old to young for stuff) are in is TaeKwonDo, and at that it has only been one month. I think todays youth are overworked, so to speak, and I just want my kids to be kids, make sense? If they came to me and asked to do something (ie karate) I will let them do it. But I dont just put them in activities for the heck of it. My mom used to do that to me and I hated it.

I totally agree with you dizneprincess! My oldest DS (15) plays AAU Basketball (competitive where we travel), HS Basketball and Football plus he takes Honors and AP classes. He was actually heartbroken when he had to give up tutoring with the literacy council. He has tutored a little girl for the past 2 years, but because of basketball practice times, he wasn't able to continue with the program this year.

Now my youngest DS, 11, is a total non-participatorwhen it comes to sports, but he's the first one to help my DH with projects around the house. He is very much the opposite of his brother. We tried to get him to participate in various activities, but he always hates them. He is a kid who totally needs his "down" time after school.

I feel that if my kids want to do something, I'll do everything possible to help them, but if they don't want to do something, I'm not going to force them. I feel if you don't really listen to what your kids are telling you about their likes/dislikes, you're not being true to your child.

april - I know what you mean about not being totally disappointed that they lost. Sometimes enough is enough in little league sports. Enjoy your Sunday!

Hi Amanda - I agree with you 100% - we don't allow our kids to join alot of things Cub scouts is something they both have been involved with since 1st grade. DS 11 bridged to Boy Scouts last May went to about four meetings and decided he wanted to take the summer off and now hasn't gone back. He does have clubs after school which is fine but we do juggle to try and pick him up some evenings. He wants to wrestle next year in 7th grade. The biggest thing this year for us so far was the three nights of football practice - and the Saturday games. I have tried to get them to learn an instrument but no takers so far. I have co-workers with 3 or 4 kids and they all are in two or three activities - I am amazed that they can get them to and from not to mention the cost - piano lessions go for over $25/half hour a week - that adds up! DS 9 is signed up for basketball but it is just a rec leaque so one night of practice and Saturday game and we don't start practices until after Christmas. Now until Christmas all we have is Boy Scouts oh and of course the CRUISE!!!!! yeah!!

Sandy - you haven't started packing yet??? Oh my - you're running out of time. LOL

My DH is starting to get excited about the cruise ... finally. Yesterday he started asking questions (what's the plan for Friday before the cruise, are we carrying drinks onto the ship, why did I have to go to Home Depot to get those green things?). I was stunned. Whenever I bring up stuff about the cruise his eyes roll back and he starts to yawn. He really loves our vacations and cruising but I guess he's not a planner. Talking about it months in advance is not his thing.

So if a non planner, just-let-it-happen guy is getting excited .... can you imagine how excited I am getting? Yes .. I guess you can.
