11/27/04 the sequel.....

PSS what are you all doing concerning the missing of school days? Suggestions on how to handle this would be appreciated from anyone who may have had to have their trip "approved"
We were able to obtain approval in return for an agreement to have the children work on two of their most difficult subjects (I don't believe we'll get much more than two out of them during the four hours we're in the air or any of our non-sailing time). However, this was a Catholic school which I think tends to be a bit more liberal with its attendance policies (a lot of parents take kids out of school throughout the year for vacations).

Amanda, I've been thinking of you. I hope you received the go ahead from the principal. I haven't notified the school yet so I hope there won't be a problem.

Last year Nicole missed 7 days and the school was ok with that. They just gave us homework to turn in when we got back. She will only be in first grade this year so it shouldn't be a big deal. Matthew will be in Kindergarten so I know that won't be a problem.

Is anyone else having trouble finding the last pages of our thread? When I try to go to the last page it only shows me up to page 17???? I have to sign off and keep trying. I must be doing something wrong. I usually go to the search function under my name and then try to go to the last page.

We just confirmed our flights and we will be arriving late morning on Fri at MCO. We are staying at Ron Jon.

Is anyone up for meeting Fri late afternoon or for dinner somewhere to watch the ships? I seem to recall that there are a couple places close by.

My DH just asked me if the cabins have coffee makers in them. Does anyone know? I don't think I read anything about coffee makers. He might have Starbucks withdrawal!!!

I read Ann Morin's glowing post about the dolphin encounter. That is a must do for us. The other is the Doubloon Sail and Snorkle. Not sure of any other excursions.

I hope everyone is enjoying the last week or two of summer before school starts. The kids start Monday and they're not thrilled. Have a great week!

Gailyn

Gailyn,
No coffee makers in the rooms, but the diehard coffee drinkers do 1 of 2 things. 1-order coffee from room service at night and it is still warm when you wake up in the morning. 2 - order it from room service at night for delivery at a specific time the next morning. Serves as a wake up along with fresh coffee.

Regarding dinner on Friday to watch the ships, none depart on Friday that I recall. Probably wouldn't be any in port - Magic doesn't arrive until Saturday AM and the Wonder is out also. I think the same applies to any Carnival or RCCL ships. However, it is stil nice to sit along the ship channel and watch the other boat activity. Grill's is a decent casual resturant that is right on the ship channel and offers inside and outside seating.

Our family will be on the Magic the week of November 27th. We are very excited to be going. It will be DH - Eric 47, me (45) DS - Zacch (11) and DS - Nick -9. I have been pretty active lately on the Disney cruise line but never thought to check out the cruise meets. This is pretty neat. We had originally booked the week of Thanksgiving but decided to change it since we are going to spend a few days before doing other things. We are going to Discovery Cove for Thanksgiving day and Kennedy Space center on Friday. We are staying at the Raddison Friday night and a cheapie for Wed/Thurs on International drive. I think we will be hitting MGM on Wednesday since my boys are huge star wars fans and want to ride star tours over and over. I have enjoyed reading all your posts and hope we can organize a DIS meeting so that we can see people face to face.

Welcome Aboard! I have to DS's 12 & 9 and we will also be staying at the Radison on Friday nite. We should be arriving at the hotel around 3:hyper:

This will be our first cruise so we are VERY excited.

See you in November:wave:

Everybody should be updated now. If not, let me know!:wave2:

What a lovely thing to wake up this am, get my OJ, boot the computer, open up Entrouage (where I keep my countdown and cruise "project" folder -- I'm obsessed and can admit that) and see 99 come up as the number of days left till the cruise. If I were still booked on the 1/29 cruise, I'd still be waiting for this moment. Excuse me while I go double digit dance around the house. :bounce:

Less than 100 days! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc Still waiting on a response from the kids principal as to what the repercussions will be for missing school.

I hope everyone is having a grand Saturday. One less day until we sail!

Yippee...double digits!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Got the good news that my older sis and BIL will INDEED be able to get the time off for the cruise...!!! Can't believe that everyone (except DH...:( ) will be going on Micah's 12th birthday cruise!!

We are now in full planning mode! Are considering ordering personalized T-shirts from the Disney Store and deciding where to stay via priceline or hotwire for 11/26/04 as we have (hopefully) convinced everyone the benefits of flying in early!

Our biggest dilemma is this...who should we go through for transportation? A number of the transportation options only hold up to 10 people...and we will have 12 people plus lots of luggage. Any ideas on what would be the most economical?? We don't really want to rent a car as would like to be "chauffered" to port and back! ;)

Thanks for any suggestions!!
:p IVY:p

P.S. Anyone's 14 or 15 year-old daugher/granddaugher who will be going on the cruise interested in a email pal?? My niece who will be 14 at the time of the cruise has expressed interest in getting to know some people before the cruise begins...I think this will help her with enjoying the teen club better when on board! Let me know!

This is great! Thanks Denise for doing such a great job putting it all together. Jennifer hopefully our boys can meet at the Raddison on Friday night - we are going to kennedy Space Center that day and not sure how much time we will spend there. What are their interests? Any Yu Gi Oh! players in the crowd?. My oldest son just started middle school this year and is still semi interested in it, but is slowly getting to the point where it might not be the cool thing to do in middle school, but you know how that stuff goes - here today gone tomorrow. My DS9 likes it too but wasn't into it as much as the older one. Of course they love video/computer games too. This is going to be a great vacation.

Hi everyone. Can't believe we are finally at double digits. WOOO HOOOOO!!!

I just made my final payment. I don't have a TA so there is no one to remind me. What if it got to 60 days and I forgot to make the payment???? Right ... like I don't think about the trip every single day!!!

Definitely looking forward to a DIS Meet before the life boat drill or during sail away party (OR BOTH). And, I want my son to meet the other 5-7 year olds early in the cruise so he'll want to go to the club a few times.

Diane

Hey, I am not sure about other options for you all. But we may stay near MCO on Sat night also. I am not quite sure at this point. But as long as we get to actually go on the cruise, I would not mind carrying 2 of your people with me. We have an expedition, and have room for 8. We are 6, so 2 more spaces left. IF it came to that, and you found no other options, I would be more than happy to do that for you. If we stay near MCO we will leaverelatively early, as I wasnt to be at the port by 1020ish....

April, my DS (9) CJ loves YuGiOh. He is in the 4th grade. In fact I just lugged he and all my other munchkins to the movie this past week. Oh joy!
I still want all my kids to get a pen pal pre cruise, but I need to find out 1st if we are going to be able to get our trip approved.

I hope you can get the approval for the kids - what a drag that is for you to have to worry about that. DH took the boys to see the movie (I was really sad to have to miss that one LOL). I think my DS's would love a pre-cruise pen pal. If you don't go in November when will you cruise with the kids again?

More than likely we will be going, unless they will be waiting to haul me off to jail when I get back! LOL If we do not go, then I may try to shoot for April 2nd but I think sticker shock will hurt me.

april riddle:
My DS12 and his friends love Yu Gi Oh as well and they're in middle school--so it must still be a cool thing. He drug me to the opening day of the movie and I didn't understand a thing--in fact he spent most of our meal after the movie explaining it all to me. My DW got out of that one, so she owes me! My kids get to pack what they can carry (after inspection of course), so I'm sure Yu Gi Oh cards will be going along. Maybe your DS and mine can compare notes and help me understand what a Red Eyed White Dragon, or whatever it's called, is!

dzneprincess--I just noticed your DS9 is also into YuGiOh. Maybe between all three of them they can help the rest of us understand the attraction!

I know I'm getting old!!! What the heck is YuGiOh???? Sounds like one of those health drink smoothies!!!!
