When my oldest nephew (who is now 15) turned 12, our family took its first traditional birthday trip to WDW. Our group included my parents (grandparents to said nephew), my younger sis (aunt to nephew), his younger sister and brother as well as my DH and I. In 2002, it was time for another "birthday" trip for my niece who was turning 12. Of course, WDW wasn't "enough"...we had to do MNSSHP on Halloween night complete with full Disney regalia and a CRT/girls only breakfast on the morning of her birthday.

Needless to say, 2004 brings another 12th birthday...this time for my youngest nephew (the last of the bunch)! Well, that's how this cruise came about-and includes the entire family (sans my DH who will not be able to get out of work )...in total 12 people. We have reserved four category 9 rooms (deck 2)-this will be a first cruise for everyone except my mom and younger sis who went on an "investigation" cruise on the Wonder in mid-October 2003 (lucky bums)! We had been planning this trip since the beginning of 2003 so they decided to "take the plunge" and rebooked on the ship, to everyone's surprise!! (We got a $200 per room ship credit!)

Our family will include my mom and dad (who are paying for half of our trip...woo hoo!!!); my older sis, her new husband (getting married next week!) and the three kids (ages 16, 14 and 12 at the time of cruise); my brother and SIL; my younger sis and her new husband (getting married in June!), and me.

Anyway, we are going to be in room 5622, and my two daughters and mates will be in 2603 and 2605, I think. Unfotunately, my daughter Amanda (Gassmandy) and family cancelled on this trip. Decided a 1 1/2 year old would be too much to deal with. I think the rest of the family wants to wait until kids are at least 3 to have another DCL family reunion. However, we may never get to that point. Another daughter found out she is six weeks pregnant...so I guess we start the three year clock all over again. In the meantime, I don't have to worry about that anymore and can take cruises whenever I want!!!



On our last cruise, we tried a Dismeet on deck 10 ovelooking the Sailaway Party. Didn't work well, because of cold weather and even then it was too crowded to decide who belonged to the group. Plus, I think everyone is so excited about the sailaway, they aren't really interested in meeting new people right then. Maybe we need to start a thread asking who has had successful meets and how/when/where it was done.

Noticed our countdown clocks are under 300 days. Boy, does that time go fast!!!

This is mine and my friend's first cruise so we don't know where a good meeting spot would be. Maybe we could all get together on one of those "private" deck areas for a few minutes one day? I don't know how accessible they are? I'm open to anyone's suggestions. Would love to meet you guys!

With IvyandLace having a birthday in their party I think that makes 3 birthdays in our group of DISers alone! Mine on the 28th, dtuleya's son and Ivy's Nephew! Lots of stuff for us to celebrate!

We have booked 2 connecting rooms 2038 and 2040. I am a little concerned though. That puts us right under the Rockin' Bar D/Wavebands. (not sure which is the Wonder and which is the Magic) Either way- am I going to hear the noise? Think I will pose the question on the other board and see if anyone has any feedback.

Also, when do we start booking excursions? Is it 60 days out? Just finalized our plane tickets. We are flying down on Friday and leaving Florida on the Monday after we return from the cruise. We are going to spend a couple of days with my brother in West Palm Beach after we get home from the cruise.

I know I'm down on deck 2 somewhere - I never remember the cabin # and will have to look it up when I get home. I just got off the Wonder yesterday and went straight into a business trip. But, the good news is I booked another cruise on the Wonder for Sept 5th (4-night).

I agree the Sailaway party is a tough time to meet new faces, with all the noise & commotion going on. Last November we did a wine tasting party on the private deck on 7 - aft of the ship. The DIS guy who led it was extremely knowledgeable about wines, and each person brought a bottle to be passed around. It was a fun time, and the kids were all (except for 1 or 2) happily busy at their kids' clubs so the adults were able to drink and chat.

Our first full day is a day at sea - we could do something like that in the afternoon. Otherwise, picking a place to meet to say hi (any lounge will be mostly empty) prior to the lifeboat drill would give people a chance to say at least a quick hi and see the different faces. That assumes everyone is on board early, and not tied up unpacking & ironing, though!

Any other ideas?

I am open to any suggestions about meeting. I think we are going to need to fly in Friday afternoon since the earliest arrival that we can manage on Sat would put us arriving at Orlando airport at 11:45 a.m.

I don't know where we are going to stay on Fri night. I'm not that far along in my planning.

My DHs parents will also be with us.
