For this year's 11/29 Eastern, we had the following
Weather - A mixed bag. Saturday at the port was clear and very cold. It had been in the low 80s all week in florida, and then a front came through and dropped the temps into the 50s-low60s. Sunday at sea was a little warmer, not as windy, but overcast. As I recall Monday at sea was definitely warmer and sunny. Tuesday and Wednesday in both ports were very nice-sunny and mid 80s. And then along came Thursday at sea!!! Wednesday night we started rocking and rolling (and we weren't on BeatStreet!) and by the time we saw daylight waves were 12-15 feet and it was very windy and overcast! They did predict clearing by mid afternoon, but instead it got steadily worse and ended up with the wave at 13-20 feet into the night. I went up on deck about noon and all three pools were nearly empty from the water sloshing around. I actually have a photo or two of the water smashing against one end of the pool and splashing a good 10 feet in the air. Woke up on Friday expecting the worse (not being able to dock at CC) but the weather was ideal, calm, and sunny. Beautiful day there - about 80 degrees all day. As we were leaving we could see a front moving towards CC (probably the same one we went through on Thursday). Got back to the port on Saturday to another cold day! (I understand from other threads that the Wonder could not dock at CC on Saturday). All ports were great - days at sea not great!
Ship- Beautiful as usual, with Christmas decorations up upon embarkation! Weather didnt help the sailaway (Brrrrrr). Had a tree lighting ceremony sunday night at 7:45, and they had gingerbread house decorating classes several days. The large gingerbread house took shape over the course of the week . We did not get to see the new Disney show, but we were the last sailing to have Darren Romeo (from Siegfried and Roy) perform. He was fabulous!! Actually glad it worked that way- I know there will be other opportunities to see the new show!!!
We had the PLAPLAP rotation, which I think was best. Had formal night in Lumieres and tropical in Parrot Cay.
Even with the weather issues, everyone had a great time. Since I live in Florida, the weather seemed a little more extreme than normal. I know while we were at sea they had the first ever recorded tropical storm in the Caribbean for a December! So hopefully next year will bring less waves!!
