Dawn, that would be great . I would love to see some photos.
3 doesnt seem possible?? Kids sure grow up fast.
It turned out to be a nice sunny day today.
I was walking the dogs and a white cat ran out about 500 feet in front of us. He didnt see us but my dogs sure saw him.
There were people sitting outside who got quite a show.
My dogs started pulling and thats 150 pounds between them both. I gave them the stay and sit command but NO way were they going to listen to me with a cat in front of them.
They kept pulling me and i tried to stop but stumbled around like a drunk for about 50 feet and i realised I was going to get hurt if I didnt let go, so I yelled "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE CAT" !!! Then the dogs were on the run.
Luckily when i yelled the cat saw my dogs and took off running a zig zag pattern which threw Pixie off. I was so happy because Pixie being part greyhound is extremely fast. Minnie got the closest but when she heard my angry yell she stopped dead in her tracks and put her ears back and head down and walked slowly over to me. I told her stay which she did and I yelled at pixie twice really mean and she came back too, just as the cat ran under a 5th wheel.
I think someone here owns that cat, if so they better start keeping it in because next time it might not be so lucky. My dogs are very gentle but when it comes to cats they follow instinct and will kill them in 2 seconds flat.
I dont want that to happen. I was so mad and upset, that it wasnt until we got back inside that I realised my little finger was hurt. I can move it but boy it hurts. I think it is sprained. and of course bruised. The leash was around it.
The dogs laid off to the side with ears down watching my every move for about 30 minutes then I let them make up with me. Neither of them have ever been in that much trouble before and poor Pixie was afraid to go back outside with me later on.
I had to coax her and she stayed right by my side the entire time. I cant stay mad when its their instinct . Its next to impossible to train them to ignore that. Plus the cat was running free. I have seen someone here walking a white cat on a leash a couple of times. If i see them again I will warn them to keep their cat on a leash or inside like the rules say or it may be a dead cat soon.
So that was my exciting day today.
Catch you all later,
Kathy
