What I look forward to? Well, seeing old friends and new will be the biggest rush for me...after that, I look forward to getting on the plane in Akron and EVERYTHING after that until saying goodbye.

I'm a little worried about my trip to Disneyland. The CA fires are really bad and are closing down the highways that we need to take to get there. I am constantly checking for updates. DL isn't directly affected but they have cancelled their fireworks and are speeding up their parades for the safety of the employees. We haven't seen any smoke here yet, but I'm sure by the end of the day we will have lots of it all around the mountains.

What are you looking most forward to doing or seeing on the cruise?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you in CA - I hope those Santa Ana winds change direction soon.

I am looking most forward to (1) seeing Lily & my mom's faces when they first see the cruise ship and (2) reading by the Quiet Cove pool with some sort of adult beverage in my hand. Oh, and spending quality time with Devin.

BTW, Lampsky, I just noticed that you and your family reside in Crown Point, IN - we just recently moved back to CO from IN - we lived in Valparaiso for 5 years and Chesterton for a little over a year. DH worked for Bethlehem Steel/ISG/Mittal which was the reason why we were living there - I'm really missing the area this time of year!!

Hope everyone is having a great day - I'm in a bit of a time crunch today (which is why I didn't check-in yesterday) due to consolidations, but I hope to be mostly finished by tomorrow. Of course, I had to take some time this morning to get caught up on all the posts I missed - btw, cute photos!!

Jaime, you are lucky to get bumped up to a Category 10 - we had a 12 guarantee and ended up with an category 11, so no real change, but I'm just glad we ended up on Deck 5 - easy access to the Oceaneer's Club, hooray!! We are also desperate for Palo reservations...we're going to try when we first get on the ship, and I guess if they say they are still sold out, I'm sure we can put our name on some kind of list and they'll call us with cancellations.

Now I'm excited to do goody bags for DM & DD - I made door signs (thanks all for sharing yours) and now I think I want to make goody bags for them as well - this is going to be so much fun!! Now, if only everything will fit in the luggage I currently own...hmmm...

Yep, I agree with you T-Bird. The best part is getting to know the servers. Not the best to start a relationship with a bribe.

And I'm also with you. We've had 2 cruises and had good (not great) service from the servers. We had the same servers (as luck would have it) on both cruises. We overtipped big time on the first cruise because we were caught up in the excitement of our first cruise. Since the next cruise was only a couple months later, they remembered us immediately on the second cruise..but the service was the same - maybe a little worse. Server got recommended. Assistant a little more because he showed a little more. Head server I gave less to because we literally never saw him. I don't mind being seen as $$$$ - but I'm old school and that $$$ must be earned. Giving it out upfront just doesn't fit for me. Honestly we are in the dining room for such a short time (compared to what we spend doing other things on the ship) that if the servers suck, they suck. I'll give recommended tip at the end of the trip but nothing more if they don't earn it. I think that tipping upfront can backfire and lead to an almost "guaranteed tip" kind of situation.AND this trip if the service is not up to par, I will say something. Ok off my soapbox.

Looks like we will have 2 of our kids in the clubs together. My DD Elizabeth is 9 (and she and Abigal will be in the same group together) and my DD Emily is nearly four and will be in the 3-4 group with Aiden!
