Jaimie...what is saltmeat???

Well I actually wasn't sure:lmao: so I had to look at the ingredients...it is beef cured with water, salt and lots of things with very long names:lmao: ...it is very salty and used mostly for taste...we boil it with cabbage, potatoes, turnip, carrot and split peas to make peas pudding...in one pot...it adds flavor to the rest of the food...I actually eat a very small amount of it...it is a Newfoundland dish called Jigs Dinner...it is usually served every Sunday for lunch with roast, chicken or turkey and dressing & gravy...

How would I go about making sweet potatoes with the marshmallows on them? Check the grocery store and the are called yams here...

Hows your mom&dad Okie?

Judy- I don't have to worry about my dog dragging my clothes through the house, my child does it for me. This evening while I was busy cleaning HIS room, Jackson was in mine removing all of the clothes from my bottom dresser drawer and the boxes of jewelry from my jewelry armoire. So now... their room is clean and mine is messy. I can never win!

I can so relate...I decided to organize my closet earlier this week and when I looked Alicia was playing dressup it was worst then before I organized it...oh well they grow up to quick to complain!

I spent the entire day cleaning yesterday. The exterminator guy is coming tomorrow and I didn't want him thinking "ya, no wonder they have bugs in their house...it's a pit". :rotfl:

Yesterday was our anniversary so last night we went out for a nice dinner. Jason went to grandma's and we had a nice night to ourselves.

Cleaning on your anniversary:scared1: ...sounds like something we would do...hope you had a great night;) ...Happy Anniversary!

How would I go about making sweet potatoes with the marshmallows on them? Check the grocery store and the are called yams here...

8 medium sweet potatoes, with skin (8 ounces each)
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
1 tablespoon orange juice
4 cups small marshmallows

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Bake potatoes until knife-tender, 1 1/2 hours.
Leave oven on. Let potatoes cool slightly. Peel; place in bowl. Beat until smooth.

Heat milk in small saucepan to boiling. Add vanilla, sugar and butter. Stir cinnamon, nutmeg and orange juice into potatoes. Stir in milk mixture until smooth. Coat 12x8x2" baking dish with cooking spray. Spread half the potatoes in bottom. Layer 2 cups marshmallows over potatoes. Cover with remaining sweet potatoes. Bake for 30 minutes. Layer remaining marshmallows on top. Bake for 20 minutes, until browned.

OR ... use canned sweet potatoes:

3 (15 ounce) cans sweet potatoes, drained
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/4 (12 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
25 marshmallows

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Pour sweet potatoes in a 10x6" (1 1/2 quart) baking dish coated with cooking spray. In a separate bowl, combine butter, orange juice, brown sugar, salt and spices. Mix thoroughly. Pour mixture over sweet potatoes. Top with marshmallows. Bake for 18-20 min. or until hot and marshmallows are lightly browned.

Rachel just finished our door magnet... FABULOUS!
will try to post a picture later but that is not by strength! I may need a tutorial in it again.

Love to see them...still trying to figure out how to do ours...

Mary Kate here...just got off the phone with my fabulously skinny sister, Ashley. She was bragging about spending the afternoon at the Dockside restaurant. I, of course, was home cooking a prime rib and being domestic...after all, I have a lot of weight to gain to keep the tabloids away. Although, Anna Nicole is dead and they still hound her.

Sarah is still coughing but feels much better. :goodvibes Ken is on the mend, but he is coughing a bunch, too. I am busy eating RiceKrispie treats and caramel apples. At this rate, I'll be as big as Anna Nicole used to be, God rest her soul.

Angelina, I'm eating for two, though I'm not pregnant. I know, you have Brad's baby, and I'll eat for all three of us. :confused3 :confused3

Ashley and I will have to tell you the MANY funny students' names we have had over the years. Just a teaser...here's one: Tropicana Tabasco Hernandez-Vega. :lmao: Again, true story.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl:

Thanks!

Yes, I cleaned during the day but only because it was absolutely necessary. The cruise is our "big" celebration but we did have a really nice dinner and night out by ourselves. Plus it felt good to come home to a clean house. :)
