11/24/07 We are Better Than Leftovers!!! Nana Head reunion Part 2

I've never gotten sea sick, but I've never been on a cruise ship either. What's everyone's opinion about what to bring...........

We bring ginger pills, ginger chews, ginger ale, bonine and seabands . On the cruise in May I felt a little queasy while pulling out of the port. I had half a ginger chew and was fine. On our first Disney Cruise in Nov 2005 I didn't have a problem but on the last night it was really rocky so I took Bonine just in case...bad choice I was extremely tired the next day (Bonine is supposed to be the non-sleepy version of Dramamine). However, my DH drank Ginger ale and ginger pills every night. I think it was more in his head, as soon as he felt the ship move he paniced. I think it's better safe than sorry but if you are going to take any type of medication try it out before you go on the cruise so you know what side effects you will have.

Good Morning everyone! It is suspose to warm up here today a little...it was cold enough yesterday for a winter jacket

I was at school last night for a meeting and we were told that anyone planning to take there children out of school has to write a letter to the principal and ask for permission even for kindergarten...so I guess I need to write a letter later today.

The student teacher at our school has a best friend who works in the kids clubs on the Magic...but he is off in November.

Jaime, don't worry...I'm a middle school principal and you might get a Dis nut like me! Truly, if a child is a good student who rarely misses, assure the school that you understand that absences will be unexcused but that you will see that assignments are done. I always request Sarah's well in advance so she can get them done, hopefully, before we leave on our trip.

Don't let them worry you...if they get an attitude, they're just jealous!
Judy is a teacher who would pat you on your back for exposing your family to other cultures. How's that for rationalizing?

I know it to be true here. The water has to be a certain temp for the jellyfish to enjoy it. The warmer the better. I have NEVER heard of that stuff. You probably don't want to know what we do when we get stung..........Judy/Robin?

ha! I can imagine that you're referring to the oldest "organic" method that needs no medications, just good old fashioned ureic acid! When Sarah was attacked by a Portugese man of war, she was treated with vinegar. Judy and I never take the girls to the beach without it. Remind me to have DD show you her scars...still raised and purple after a year! (Picture Ken and Rachel out on surfboards, hearing Sarah scream, and then see her bobbing up and down in the surf!) They both assumed that a shark had gotten her. THANK god that Sarah was able to laugh about it...of course, she and Rach can laugh about anything!

They are the Lucy and Ethel of the teenage set.

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone! My name is Tavia, DH Brad, & DD13 will be sailing with me. Destinydaddy is Loren, DW Robin, DS14, & 2 DDs 10(twins) will be with us also. We are on a Cat. 6 GTY. We currently have 3 more familys with us.

We sailed last year on 12/9/06 & there was alot of activity going on!
I will have to find out why you are all called the Nana Head reunion
Now I must starting researching this thread!

Hey, CastlePixie!!! Welcome aboard our ship of fools. Nanas are basically a bunch of fun-loving folks who live life as it was meant to be lived. Did I mention that this crowd is also HILARIOUS! By the way, everyone, remind me to tell you my bullfrog joke.

I'm Robin, DH Ken, and DD14 Sarah. We travel with Judy (Mickeyworld) and her DD13, DD16, and 16's buddy.

Judy and I became immediate friends when we discovered we share the Disney gene. We spend EVERY minute planning our next Dis trip. Yep, after the nanahead reunion, we're headed to Animal Kingdom Lodge (Judy's DVC treat) in April!

Please post as often as you can...Judy and I work in the same school system and can no longer get on boards at school, so we try to get on either early or late.

the bananaheads started last year on the same cruise. There are a group of us who cruised together last year and Bill (cruisemutt) kept posting these crazy bananas and things just took off from there with banana stuff.
So we called ourselves the banana heads Blame it on Bill, we blame everything on Bill.

This cruise many of us are going together so we call it the Banana head reunion and many are booked for 11/ 29/08 western for a second reunion.

But now that you have joined us you too are a banana head!! It is a great honor
It just means your a crazy disney cruise nut like the rest of us.

Last year about 50 of us had matching shirts and it was great fun. we all wore them to the terminal the first day so we could spot each other before the meet. Accept Bill and Jeff who wimped out the first day, but Bill did put his shirt on after we yelled at him. Jeff had better be wearing one this year!!!

The women also wore tiaras to the meet at 2:45 in the Promenade lounge and will do so again this year.
I hope your group will join us and get a matching shirt. The information about it is on the bottom of the cruise meets list Shell will send you. They really dont cost much and will make a great souvenir too.

It was fun to see peoples reactions to all of us the first day, they thought we were all related. But it was our first time meeting.

we have lots of kids for the kids to get to know. Just get them posting too!!
