Question to the group... does ANYONE know ANYTHING about when the new ships are supposed to be started? I keep checking the Meyerwerft site to see but I doubt they'll lay the keel for a year at least.... just wondering and waiting patiently.

I don't know. One would think soon. Isn't the first one supposed to come out in 2010? Or is it 2011? We're already half-way to 2008. How long does it take to build a ship?

All I know is, by the time those ships are out our kids will be out of the "high maintenance" stage and we might get to have some "mommy and daddy" time. Hey, I can dream anyway.

OK, I have a really important question for everyone....

Who will be dressing in a full pirate costume? I found a bunch on-line that aren't too expensive but my DH would kill me if I made him dress up and no one else was!!!

We're doing all the lame first time cruiser stuff......matching outfits for embarkation (disney of course) , I even bought some sweaters during Disney's semi annual clearance and we're going to have our Christmas Card picture made

I saw costumes for about $30 on Halloween Mart and Costums4less web sites. They looked pretty good too. Hey, I'm the one who packs and tells him what to wear each day so he doesn't really have a choice

The only sport my DH is really into is Baseball (Go Yankees) so the last time we were on the cruise he didn't go into the sports bar since baseball was already over. Also he doesn't really drink I know that's just crazy but at least I know I will always have someone to get me back to my room after a night of drinkin

Woo said something about NOT dressing for pirate night this year. I'm at least going to do a cerimonial t-shirt and a bandanandana-na....uh, yeah.
I guess I'd rather be comfortable than a pirate fashion plate. Pirates like to dress comfortable for the pillages anyways.

I wear a full pirate outfit, DH always wears a pirate t-shirt and pirate bandana they give you.

tellyour dad he needs to post so I can rub in the fact he got my name wrong at least once more before I forgive him.
After all I did that to Cheri and she is still rubbing it in, I am more mature about it and only rub it in a couple of times

It's no fun unless Rick defends himself.

Earlier this week the local paper had an article about DCL and they said 2011 and 2012 for the new ships. The Wonder and Magic took about 18 months to build and even tho the new ships are slightly larger I'm sure it will take about the same amount of time to build.
The article said that DCL is thinking about leaving port canaveral and sail out of the Fort Lauderdale area. Their lease is up soon at port canaveral but they have it written into their lease they can now lease it one year at a time for the next 40 years..

I guess they need a bigger dock area for the new ships and also they are worried that they wont have enough parking where they are now for the extra cars. No room to expand out at PC but they could do a parking garage which is very expensive but the port may consider it and expanding their area if they sign a long contract.
Of course Fort Lauderdale would love to have them so they are going to be making offers too, but DCL also has to think about extra time and gas for buses to get there over PC. It may take a couple of years before they decide what they are going to do. They have to decide by then, so before 2011 they can finish any remodeling before the first ship is done.

Well considering that I'm going to have one who isn't even eligible for the clubs yet... and who weighs 27 lbs. and still likes to be carried....

Maybe it occurs sometime after they are able to at least go potty by themselves...
