I'm gonna have to let the more experienced cruisers answer that, Dawn. I dont remember if the cruise was paid off last year or not but we did recieve one about the same time as this year. Honestly, though.... they're a nice thing to get in the mail but theres really nothing thats vital to your cruise status. Its just a neat little DCL reminder that your "IN" the family and they want to see ya.

I do, however think it has to be paid before you can make any reservations for the spas or excursions....can some one verify this stuff for me?

Hope everyone is beating the heat. Its 93 here right now...(I know thats not Vegas hot but its still hot for us).

Enjoy....

we are 96 plus high humidity here!! It's AWEFUL.

Bill, I think that whole half of the US is getting a heat wave, it is on the 90's in Oregon too.
Dawn, Bill got the info correct. I hate to admit it but he answered right.

I got my pictures down loaded to photo bucket now I need to scan and download the professional photos for my report.

I did start my report but it got so long winded and I'm not even cruising yet so need to shorten a bit.

will work on it more later today.
Greg just took SIL to airport to return to Oregon. Of course the rest of the family will be staying for a while:goodvibes

I will check back after I get some more report ready,

kathy

My daughter's teaching me to do this. Here is Alexis our baby girl!

Alexis is so cute!!!

I have 2 pages done on my report, still have lots to go. I did get all the professional photos moved to photo bucket so I am making progress.

I hope everyone had a good weekend.

I will be in touch,

kathy

Hey Kathy, welcome back. guess you didn't realize that I've returned from my long "sleep".

Anywho, if you haven't noticed yet, we have returned a little ahead of schedule from our camping trip :confused3 . My mom will fill in the details (please mom?)popcorn:: popcorn::

I hope that we keep this talking going. By the way Kathy... what's the goal for this thread?

I'm jealous of you going to Lake Michigan. I hope you enjoy! It is SO hot here. It said 101 as we were driving around earlier. Swimming sounds great. Unfortunately all the pools around here are sure to be crowded and 101 is just a little to hot to have the little ones out regardless!!!
It was 96 here today, so not too far from your temp. :scared1: Lake Michigan was great. The pool at the condo was too warm, but the water was chilly with big waves! Lots of fun! Tyler had a blast jumping in the waves, then digging in the sand. I spent tons of time in the water. Didn't even know it was so hot because of how the water felt. I thought it was around 80, so imagine my surprise when I saw the temp of 96 later! We also spent time driving around town so I could show Tyler all the places I spent as a kid and my grandparents' former house where I spent a good portion of my childhood. Ever since I was in high school, it has been my dream to buy that same house someday. I think the same people who bought it from my grandma still live there because I've never seen a "For Sale" sign in the yard. I'll keep patiently waiting! LOL!!!

You can be a taste tester,...but only if you have a lil adventure in ya.
I'm really doing some experimental stuff and I'm not sure whats gonna be awesome and whats gonna stink. Be warned.

We got our travel pack from disney today.....

Lil adventure? I've got TONS of adventure in me! :rotfl2:

Travel pack? I don't think I've ever received one.

Kathy: Welcome back! Strippers on your cruise?! Dang! I went on the wrong Carnival ship! Our cruise was lots of families.....no stripper activity, unfortunately. But how awful about your debarkation hassle. 5 hours? Yikes!! Only took 20 minutes for me....did self-assist, so I'm not sure if that made a difference. Anyway, I hope you at least had a bit of fun on your cruise!

Kathy,
My first cruise was carnival and I loved it... but then... I didn't have anything to compare it to either.

Alexis is cute. I'm a little afraid of Lucy... I think we need to get her into rehab...

Still having a great time in Maui. I am trying to enjoy every moment and to not take the breathtaking scenery and surroundings for granted. For those of you who have been here you know what I'm talking about. The smell of flowers when you emerge from the plane for the first time. The mountain views. The beach views. Flowers falling from trees that my daughters pick up and put in their hair and look like a million bucks.

We went to Haleakala yesterday - it's the dormant volcano on maui. When Mina and I honeymooned here, we went up there for sunrise - a truly ethereal experience. This time we went up mid-morning to look at the crater and see the vistas from the summit - including being able to see the Big Island as clear as day. It was 56 degrees at the summit around 11:30 a.m....and by the time we reached sea level, it was 92.

Today we had a family portrait taken - actually an hour long photo shoot with an incredible photographer we found through the hotel. Waiting on proofs and can't wait to see them as he chose some incredible backdrops for the shots.

Needless to say, we're having a great time. We are at this hotel (the Kea Lani in Wailea) until Wed. morning..then on to the Hyatt in Kaanapali which is our favorite hotel on the island. Though I must say after staying at the Kea Lani...we are not sure what we like best as this is an all suite hotel with incredible rooms and great space.

Hope everyone is having a happy July. And Shell...you think it doesn't take much to get me on a vacation? Whatya mean? :rotfl:

Morning everyone,
we are also HOT. No surprize huh?? 95 plus humidity makes 105 to 110.

Josh,
glad your back. I think our goal should be 12,000 posts, we still have 4 months to go and if you post more often we will make it, no problem.
I am happy to see I am not the only one with a "Special needs dog":lmao:

Holly,
it sounds like you both had a great time cooling off in the water.

Jeff,
sounds like you are all having an AWESOME vacation:thumbsup2

well off to work on my trip report some more. I hope to post it by tomarrow, if all goes well.

catch everyone later,

kathy

Thanks everyone for appreciating the pic. I actually got that off the internet, so that's not really Lucy. I'll see if I can get a real picture of her. :)

12,000? I think we can do it:thumbsup2 . If anyone has some downtime, just make a post about what's going on. I am. I think I'll go eat breakfast, its only 8:00 here.

Good morning everyone. North Carolina is definitely in the heat of the summer- it is so humid I can almost watch my hands swell. But summer means I don't have to go to work so that is only a small complaint!.
Kayla leaves for Europe with the people to people ambassadors program on Wednesday, I am a bit nervous to let her go... scary world out there but I guess I have to let her, especially since I encouraged her to try to go!
Feeling the need for a little mickey magic- may take a trip to the Disney story later this week just to feel the magic!
Hope you all have a great week... will continue to post to help reach the magic posting number!:beach:

Ok......

Top Ten Reasons To Choose Disney Over Carnival.

#10---The bars on Carnival ships are hard to get into because the Capt keeps buying rounds for his officers.

#9---You can find a mouse almost anywhere on a Carnival ship but very few
will pose with you for photo ops.

Stay tuned.....

Hey, you want 12000....not all of the posts are gonna be top notch!

Bill,
wait till you see my list.

your #10 explains why we never saw or heard from the Captain until the 5th day of the cruise.:lmao: He did have 20 bars on board to choose from.;)

I will be anxious to comapre it to your list after I see your entire list.
Mine is several paragraphs long already and I am just getting started.:rolleyes1
I hope to finish it tomarrow evening.

Keep the list coming.

kathy

Nice Bill! :thumbsup2 Even though they may not pose for you, won't they leave you "gifts" in your state room?

Also, we went for our passports today. My dads picture looks like a floating head because he wore a white t-shirt with a white background!
