Hey all ... I finally got some information on a tour of St. Maarten from Sunny on St. Thomas (and yes, this is verbatim. You'll begin to read it in Sunny's accent :rotfl2: ):

Hi Michele,

If you would like to get the same kind of package tour in St. Maarten, I have drivers there that I can set you up with for $30.00 per person. His name is Victor Bryan. His tour consist of sightseeing, swimming, and shopping.

He will pick you up at the ship at 9:00 a.m., take you sightseeing for 2 hours, take you to one of the famous beaches located on the French side of the island, and then shopping. He start out the tour at the cruise terminal, then head over to the French side.

There he will make 3 stops. Two overlooking Great Bay, one overlooking the Airport, and the other one at Sunset Beach, better known as Maho Beach where the planes fly over your head. Then he depart to the French Side where he will make a stop in Marrigot, which is the Capital of the French Side.

He will then proceed to Orient Beach where you will spend the time at the beach to swim. And finally he will take you to Phillipsberg where you will shop, then back to your ship where your tour ends. Please let me know as soon as possible if you will like me to reserve the tour in St.Maarten for you. It is hard to reserve a package like this in St. Maarten.

I was hoping to go snorkling in the morning, but now I'm thinking maybe this would be fun. Don't know yet. Decisions, decisions ...

I'm curious as to which ship you were on
We were on the Monarch of the Seas. It's one of their oldest ships. I know sometimes old looks like dirty but this ship just wasn't that clean. I had to change folk and knives several times due to them being dirty. One time (of course the during the bad breakfast experience) the fork looked like it hadn't even been washed.

Have a very busy few weeks ahead of me. My husband finally got the keys to our new restaurant. Let the craziness begin:scared1:. Oh and my in-laws are staying with us for 2 weeks:headache: to help us get the new place up and running...thank goodness I have a casita for them to stay in.

Weather here has been well...hot. 103 today but will be going way down in the 80's for the next few days no rain in sight. I think the last time it rained here was in March...gotta love the desert.

:scared1: Tell us about your restaurant. I don't think I've heard all the details. What kinds of food? Where is it? Etc.

I can top that ... last Wednesday thru Saturday, it was blazing hot (for us) in the upper 80s and 90s. Today ... we have the furnace on! :headache: Anyone wanna guess why I'm looking for work in Florida??? :rotfl:

Yes we keep slipping to page 2 during the weekdays. Got to watch out for that.

My whip is just itching to be used.:lmao:

Holly the forecast here is low 90's 20% chance of afternoon thunderstorms for as far as they can predict. This pretty much will stay this way for the entire summer unless a storm passes by. So I would think you will get your fill of HOT weather when your here. Bring the sunblock:thumbsup2 You'll need it.

I did venture out to the store today. First thing I have done after being sick. Got just a few groceries and it was over $100, now i really feel sick!!;)

Actually I did get really tired but it felt good to get out of the house for a few minutes. Peter watched the dogs for me which really helped.

well I am pooped. Going to put my feet up and see what on the food network for awhile.

I am waiting for Bill to make another cake to show us.:goodvibes

Thanks for the forecast Kathy! I'm looking forward to it, especially since I'm sitting under a llama wool blanket, trying to keep warm. Like Shell, I had to turn the furnace on because when we came home tonight it was only 61 in our house (53 outside). It's supposed to get to 44 tonight.

Morning everyone,

Shell, I have been to most of the places you listed and they were very nice. Marrigot has 2 parts. One part is all modern buildings with many EXPENSIVE shops. The other part is just a few blocks walk from the main shopping area. They call it a flea market and it is outdoor shops with tents and such, very good prices there and one small bathroom. when I was there it was also dirty, no paper and no towels. Been there twice. so you might want to take travel size paper and hand sanitizer with you, just in case.

Phillipsburg is a nice area with much better prices for shopping.
The areial view of Great Bay and the airport are beautiful.
I havnt been to the beaches he stated but have seen them from a high vantage point and of course they look fantastic.

If you want beautiful beaches St. Johns has several, although I dont know if DCL offers a beach excursion. we saw them on an island tour of St. johns last time. Prices for shopping on St. Johns are HIGH.
Our family has done a morning snorkeling there, and loved it, I believe it was actually at Pinel Island, then back for a late lunch but still had 2 1/2 hours to shop before getting on the ship. When you dock,, not tender there is a huge shopping area about 2 blocks from the ship, of course you already know about shopping across from where you tender in.

Should be great no matter what you choose to do.

Kathy

YOU FOUND US!!!! :welcome: I hope you meant TWO 16-yo girls, not 216 girls! :rotfl2: That'd be mighty expensive! Where are you from? Check your PM for info on the Cruisemate list (ha! I beat you to it, Kathy! :rotfl:)

:welcome: Mickeyworld :welcome:

Your in the right spot!!!

Glad you found us:banana:

You are now a Banana head. You will learn what that means as time goes on.

We are a very "a peeling" group of crazies.:rotfl2:

There are a few that are crazier than others. Bill and Shell for example. Bill is very sneaky with a camera and Shell, well you'll just have to read her posts. She kind of instigates trouble around here:lmao:

A lot of us have cruised together last November and know each other so if you read a lot of insults and teasing it is all in fun , we just get a little crazy at times. Believe me we are not like that in person, we are worse!! Or at least the rest of them are, Me I am just a sweet lady who is caught up with a bunch of nuts!!!:rotfl2:

Happy to have you guys along, Please give us a first name to call you by.

Kathy

Shell, you were just lucky this time. I had to take Pixie for a potty break.

Welcome Judy!! :wave2:

You said you had been on cruises before. Were any of them Disney cruises? This is a first time of cruising for us!

Hi Danielle, it's good to see you posting again.
Since your posts are only in their 20's I challenge you to hit 500 posts by the cruise!:thumbsup2

No it is NOT impossible. I did the same challenge to another cruiser last cruise and she was way past that by cruise time. She couldnt believe she could post that much.:woohoo:

I know you can yakkity yak with the best of us.
ask questions
tell us about you
just anything to post, even give a weather report for your area. we chat about everything as well as cruising. As the cruise gets closer we get more cruise talk.

Just jump right in;)

kathy

Welcome Judy :dance3: we are a crazy group...you will have a lot of fun with us.

Tell us about your restaurant.
We already have a small Pizzeria and my husband has wanted something bigger so when he got the opportunity it get this place he was really excited. It is double the size of our current place. We will serve Italian Food and of course Pizza. My husband makes everything homemade...he's a really good cook. It's not really a restaurant more like a cafe. You will order your food and bring it to your table. We are also hoping to do lots of catering. The place that was there before was pretty successful because it's in such a good area. My husband will be really busy for the next few weeks running both places. We will try to sell the other place but we know it may take a few months. Hopfully it will be sold by the time we go on the cruise.

Ok, enough of work!
We are Disney addicts- anyway Robin -the other mom- and I are. We have been on all Disney cruises, why look for something else? Our kids are teens and love the stack, where they hang out way past my bedtime.
My husband passed away several years ago but his memory lives in us thru the Mouse.... I am a DVC owner at Animal Kingdon, too- will visit our new unit there for the first time in April 2008.
Did I see someone from Ohio??? I grew up in Toledo, went to college at Hiram. Left the cold and live in North Carolina now....
Looking into excursions for St. Thomas, we loved going on our own in St. Marten really love the days at sea the most and the rainforest room at the spa is where I am if you can't find me!
Will post often!
Judy:beach:

Hey Judy.... Welcome to the bunch. Don't believe ANYTHING that Woo or Kathy tell you about me....where they get all those stories....who knows?:rolleyes1.

btw...Kathy, I've been on that Curacao site before....the import link doesn't help. I guess I need to go to the island and pick the dog-gone stuff up in person. I'll live with some of the domestic orange liqueurs, they make pretty good margaritas.

Here Judy...a proper welcome. Have a monkey.

CHRISTINE: Have you ever gotten the Cruisemate List from me? I don't remember if I have your e-mail address or not. PM me with it. Thanks.

OK, it's my turn now. Second Cruise for me and my DS who will turn 10 the day we sail on 11/24/07!! It is a total surprise for him, he has no idea that we are doing a cruise or two days in WDW before the cruise. We did the 4 day Wonder back in 2003 and loved it.
I have been watching this thread for a few weeks now and you are such a tight knit group, I was a bit hesitant to shout out that we are going, but no more!! I also saw the interesting info about St. Maartin excursions that were posted yesterday and was quite interested.
Anyway, very happy to join the 11/24/07 cruise group. Since I can't talk to my son about the cruise, I have to find other folks who can't stand the wait as much as me.

Nancy

WELCOME Nancy!!!

Dont hesitate, just jump right in:goodvibes
we want all the people we can get to join us.

The reason we seen like a tight little group is because a large group of us have cruised together last November and will be cruising in 08 together.

Guess we are a glutton for punishment.
We do get a bit crazy sometimes but it is all in fun.

Bill, now watch out for him. He is Mr. Sneaky with the camera and his wife, Shell is good at getting into trouble . :lmao:
Jeff and Mina are nice, quiet people with 2 darling little girls.
Holly is a bit of a go getter, crazy type with a boy who just turned 5 I think?? Is that close to your sons age??

we always have a meet, so the kids can get aquainted too.

No official announcement yet but it will probably be in the Promenade lounge at 2:45 on the first afternoon and it ends just in time to run for the safety drill.
If Bill is doing his job you will have a chance to buy a matching shirt like the rest of us so we are easy to spot. That is optional. We did it last time and the ladies wore tiaras which was great fun.
The terminal was a sea of green!!!

Of course I am the quiet, shy, sweet lady who you hardly know I am here:angel:

All kidding aside, dont be shy, PLEASE just jump right in. we all love Disney and Disney cruising. As the cruise gets closer we are talking more about excursions and such.

Shell is in charge of our official cruise list and she will be contacting you soon for information to add you to our list and she will send you a copy of it so you will know who we all are without having to read dozens of pages.

Looking forward to getting to know you over the next few weeks.

kathy they shy one:confused3
