I know my previous posts have received a great deal of criticism for various reasons, but if anyone out there has had the following people help them on the Magic, let me know:

Liam and Gregory in the Dining Room
Yande - Room attendant

These three guys were terrific and hopefully their "tipless" week will go quickly and they can get back to making a few bucks. By far the best part of the week was interacting with these gentlemen. Kind, considerate and efficient.

If you ever have Liam, ask him to show you his magic tricks.

On all our 6 DCL cruises we have always found the servers and room stewards to be wonderful. We also have found the cruise staff to be enthusiastic, full of fun/energy and very willing to get everyone to participate in all activities.

Some of the current cruise staff is John from Wales (just came back from vacation the day you boarded), Ian, Robin (the bingo king), Sean from South Africa and a few others.

Did you attend any of the evening theme nights or pool games or games shows or bingo.....this is where they would have been hosting. If you did how did they seem? I was wondering if they had the same energy level with everything going on and were as many people participating.

Thanks.

MJ

Funny you should mention those names. For the most part they were ok, BUT on Friday night Sean, John and April hosted a fugazy game show, Walk the Plank. It was pathetic to begin with but the behaivior of John in particular was deplorable. He acted like a four year old, throwing plastic fish and interrupting. Many people walked out long before the show ended, including us.

Memo to John: GROW UP!

I have been to that show....and seen John host. He is supposed to act that way...that is part of the show. He is supposed to be the mean, tyrant pirate captain. That is the whole gist of the show. He is play acting the way DCL wants him to.

Thanks for answering.

Well the night I was referring to, Sean was the pirate/host. He did a good job being surly and mean. John and April were the "stagehands" so to speak. It just didn't come across as entertaining how they bantered with each other. Especially John.
Anyway...
We ran into April on Castaway and found her to be really nice and approachable. She played pool with some kids and chatted with the adults.

Robin hosted the final bingo show in the WD Theater. He kept things entertaining with a good batch of horrible jokes.

Without being at that specific show I guess I can't really comment then....but, we have sailed with John on three cruises and I can assure you that he is not that way "in real life".

Thanks again.

MJ

I get your point. We board the ship and have expectations. If a CM acts in a certain way or has a bad day, it reflects badly on himself and the company in general. I wasn't implying he's a bad person. But in the context on that particular occasion, he had a bad day, I guess. Must be tough to always be up and positive.

Life goes on.

Is John the dark-haired bloke with the rather thick british accent? I found his actions to be rather less than Disney last December on the Magic. He hosted the "Walk the Plank" show and I found him to be rude and nervy. He was definitely unfunny.

He also was at the Disney Experience for "dessert" and was handing out the tickets for the galley tour. He acted like they were gold, his gold.

That is the cm I was referring to. He mentioned that he was just back from his seven week vacation on the 11/23 sailing. Maybe he wasn't back in the swing yet, but we found him to be much like you did. Attitude a-plenty.

Wow, I'm alittle shocked about these comments. I gave a rather lengthy opinion about John from Wales on my "Favorite Crew Member" thread recently. Perhaps you guys didn't see enough of John to appreciate his good qualities. We ran into him all over the ship and he was really outstanding.
