11/22/08 Thanksgiving 2008 cruise thread. Double Dipping Travelling Turkeys!

Hi Everybody Its offical we are on the Thanksgiving Day Cruise. I know many names from last Thanksgiving and Spring Break. We were going to move this cruise but decided to go. As soon as we paid in full Volusia County School District decided to take away two of our vacation days for hurricane days. So the "Should we go?" started again. Well Mickey WON!

I know it is late notice but we would like to participate in the Fish Extenders. I started reading the posts(well not all of them!! You guys have been way too busy) and I see a lot of you sound like you have finished making and marking yours. If it is too late let me know. My DS Frank is 15 and my DD Nikki is 12. They both think they are too old but I can tell how much they like checking out the FE when we come back to the room. Well me too!!! We are in Rooms 2062 and 2064.

Can't wait to meet everyone or say Hi to old friends. Catch me up if you can on meets and things like that

WELCOME!!! You are more than welcome to join in on our grab bag. It will take place at our DIS Meet. Whoever brings an item to the meet with drop it in the bag and then when you leave you will pull an item out of the bag. Just something fun to do. THAT'S WHAT WE ARE HERE FOR, TO HAVE FUN!!!!!

I loved going to the website to look at pictures of my new friends! I really missed it when it was gone! It's nice for the kids to see others kids they will be sailing with as well. That little bit of familiarity is sometimes comforting for them. I promise I will get a photo of us posted soon. I'll try to get DS to do it tonight. I couldn't tear him away from the Penguin game last night and then he had homework to do.
Well, I went out last night and bought new FE supplies. I've started another project just for us girls! Once I was done with my other gifts, I felt empty inside! I came up with another idea and hey, why not. It keeps me happy, busy and out of trouble! Michelle and Susan - Thanks for the updated FE list. It is extremely helpful. I was trying to keep track myself and I was afraid I would miss someone!

Thanks love2travel for the welcome. I would like to do the grab bag. We are up for the FE also.

Now that it's a go I have to get busy. Our rooms are right by Ocean Quest so I hope I don't have to much stuff taken from our door. I want to move to the back of the boat but it still shows a qty so I can't see what is open if anything.

What a fun group can't wait.

How are you able to see what cabins are open? Well, since it's GTY I guess you can't really, but if it wasn't... LOL, did I totally confuse you.

I believe you can do it by going in and pretending to make a reservation and then say you want to choose the stateroom for that category. It then shows a list of staterooms that are open.....or at least it used to. Have not tried it in a long time. Did that make sense.

Woohoo! We leave one month from today!!!! Setting sail one month from tomorrow!!

DH completed the on-line check in process yesterday. Disney gift cards purchased from the scrip program have been received, although it's a good thing I'm not limited to that amount! DD has started her "things to pack" list, although it's not very long which means we're probably forgetting something. I'm sure I still need to go shopping.

Another question: Does the two pieces of luggage limit include a carry-on or do I get two + a carry-on?

With luggage we check two each and carry on other baggage with us. We have a day bag with our swimsuit and must haves until the luggage arrives.

Does that make sense?

Yep That how I find out the open rooms. Just make a dummy res and it will show you the rooms available. Sometimes it will not show you all the rooms. Last time I checked it only showed gty but I will check again.

We got our room assignment too. Deck 2, starboard, midship. I was hoping to get an upgrade to cat. 6 , but I'm very happy with this location.

Wonder if this means the rooms are starting to come on the GTY's - as to luggage, just remember that if you bring it on board, it has to share your stateroom with you in most circumstances, and even though by cruise ship standards Disney's cabins are large, there is still only so much you can store in 184/214 Sq Ft (not including verandahs)...unless you are one of the few fortunate to have a cat 1-4. That said, as to a carry-on, a good duffle on wheels w/meds, cameras etc and swimsuits/change of casual clothes (especially if you have kids) is strongly recommended. We also bring a soft-sided cooler on wheels packed with water and gatorade - water b/c of what they charge for the water package, and gatorade b/c they do not have it on the boat at all, and I am invariably playing volleyball for a few hours at CC and sometimes playing Hoops w/kids half my age or worse. The problem w/bringing beer on board btw is that most cabins still have the coolers, not a real fridge, so it is hard to keep the beer cold.

I am so happy! With all this talk about rooms I went back and looked and saw that room 2622 and room 2624 just opened up. And the good part they are connecting (our others were just next to each other). So called TA and she changed us.
