11/14/09 - Special Western - 2 CC stops

Let's see, where do I start. First of all, too much is being read into what I posted before. Our decision has nothing to do with the plans that have been made and/or changed with this group. Everything that you all have planned so far sounds great and what not, it really does. When I posted before, I didn't feel the need to explain the reasoning behind our decision, which had more to do with me than my mom, but I guess I should have. Bear with me as I figure out how to say this. I for one am not the type of person who is real comfortable amongst a group of strangers. Because of issues in the past it takes a long time for me to break the ice so to speak and let people in. Those closest to me know this and accept this. You might be thinking that I can post on this message board with no problem. Well, it is difficult for me here too but I can hide behind my screen name and no one knows me -I think. Anyways, after much thought, I decided it wouldn't have been fair to all of you for me to even try to participate with this group in person because I most likely would stayed to the back of the crowd and kept to myself. Please believe me when I say deep down wanted to the opportunity to meet all of you but it would prove to be too difficult for me in such a short period of time on the cruise. I hope that makes sense.

I really appreciate you explaining your original post. Don't worry, I am not always as chatty in person as I am on these boards. I think that can be said for the most of us. What we all have in common is our love for the big MOUSE, his fantastic ships and let's not forget obsessive cruise planning. So I for one hope you join us for all the fun but I understand too, if your not comfortable. Maybe we will still meet on the ship anyways...

I am totally good with the FE exchange in any form. This will be our family's first exchange (3rd cruise). I like the SM exchange idea for the adults too...more the merrier!

Hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to coment on some of the posts. I was the one who posted about prefering the FE to be for kids and grown-ups. I am glad that other people have expressed their opinions as well. For the people who are orginizing the events, first of all I must say thank you because I am sure it is not easy, but mostly I am glad that the post opened up the topic for conversation. No one can possible know what everyone else wants, so if you want or prefer something, you should say something. I agree that you can not please everyone, but at least we can talk about it and make a group decision. Having said that, if the group decides only kids on the FE, then thats what we will do too. As far as what I was planning, I haven't made my final decision, but I was thinking something that the whole family could use or enjoy, and then some small things for the kids.

For the person who was surprised that I had my FE done, I must admit that I cheated. I bought the Disney Card Holder at Christmas time, so all I had to do to it was personlize it. There is no way I could have sewn one!!!!

With all that's been written lately, I thought I'd weigh in and bore you with my opinion.

On F.E. Don't take my stuff away!! Sure it is just trinkets, but some of them were quite thoughtful and clever. It was too much fun coming back to the room and finding new stuff. Count me in .

Gift trading- any format. Whatever makes you feel good. I always thought you couldn't go wrong giving a bottle of booze. Only the local winery is still in the 'developement stage' and knows better than to try and sell the stuff. I'll personally sit this one out.

Changing plans. Folks are still joining and leaving. Sometimes life has a way of amusing you. Groups won't be finalized until just before we leave, and even then there will need to be updates to include those of us hoping for an upgrade. So don't fret the planning this far out.

Being a 'Groupie'. Not for this one either, thank you. I just don't socialize. Writting pre TR's is fun, and I kid about being a most popular passenger and all, but reality finds me in very small groups. I'm generally not a 'joiner'. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to meet you all, but I don't need a chat room to figure out who I want to hang out with.

The Logo. Since you didn't hate it, I thought I'd step forward and claim ALL the credit . Sure, I had a tiny bit of help with the actual graphics part, but I did everything else. (KC now bows and accepts thunderous applause) This is just the first draft you saw last week, as I have a few more minor changes to go. If only I knew somebody who would listen to me...

Speaking up. Just like the logo, things can and will change if you ask.

Website. Topics are covered over there that may or not have been discussed lately over here. Stop by once a week or so to stay current.

Latest complaint. Honeywell stinks . They made the new 'smart meter' that was mis-installed 2 weeks ago. A few arcs later and we had no power for 3 1/2 days. I'm so sure a letter of apology is in the mail.

That's all for now, as I'm off to find some velcro for my throne. I fell off the darn thing after a mightly struggle with, well, what I was drinking is NOT important. What is important is that they help me find my crown when they all stop laughing at me.

Hi all!! I came out of a several year lurkdom because this group is so special. I rarely post (except for the acronym game). I too, prefer to stand back and enjoy your banter and plans. That doesn't mean that my poor long-suffering daughter doesn't have to listen to my thoughts and plans. We spend hours discussing and planning each upcoming cruise or trip. Then hours again dissecting it afterwards! I am just uncomfortable in groups. I feel awkward. However, I want to do it all, FE, SM, gift exchange. Planning with and for Disney People is fun. What fun it is to wander through Michael's or Joann's and look for little things to surprise our cruise friends with. What shall we bring for the gift exchange? Something Texas, something Disney, maybe we can come up with something that is both! Being Mickey's Pal brings out the best in all of us. So let's enjoy each other to the extent we are comfortable.

Actually, the reason I popped on was becuase I saw something over at the Disney online outlet (yes, I was shopping... just not spending... yet) that might work for FEs if someone wants to go this route. Go to http://disneyshopping.go.com/disney/store/Category_10003_10052_14407_-1_14407_____Home-Décor and about 2/3 down the page they have some hanging storage units that might work. Hope it helps someone!

OMG!!! This is too funny!! I was on the disneyshopping website about 20 minutes ago and was going to pass along the exact same info!! Hypa, I think you and I must live in parallel universes.... What's the saying? Great minds think alike? (Yeah, but fools seldom differ....)

I've been looking for bargains too - not spending yet either but boy there's some bargains to be had.... (must keep wallet closed, must keep wallet closed....)

Yeah we just got my dh's check with his less hours and I just about died. We are definitely going to have to change our cruise or we won't be able to go at all. I wish they'd open up some cat. 12's for this cruise..oh well I'll just keep checking. I just can't cancel it, not yet.

Don't cancel yet. You never know what's going to come up. I'd wait until the very last minute to cancel because I find it so hard to believe that they're not going to bump up anyone and open up some cat 12s. Hang in there. Hopefully the economy will turn around soon. We're all praying for you and sending tons of pixie dust your way!

Great post!!! Well said! I think we should open FE up to everyone who wants to participate...adults and kids alike. However, I do think that SM should be for adults only. I love the state gift exchange as well...I am going to DL next week for the last time for this year. We are not renewing our AP's to build up the excitement for the girls since we are to DW before the cruise. I would kind of like to know what exchanges we are doing so I can shop a bit. But I know it's hard to figure out since our numbers keep changing.

The news on Secret Mickey's has finally arrived. Sandiegosusie and I have talked (well, typed) and this is what we have come up with.

1. SM is open to adults - assignments will be made ladies to ladies and the guys to guys.

2. At least three deliveries should be made with a total $$ amount to be spent around $35.00 (that is total for all gifts).

3. Hypermommy added a tab on our group spreadsheet - if you wish to participate, please fill out a line and add anything you think helpful in additional columns. Better yet, if we have missed something, let me know and I can add a column specifically for the subject.

4. Those of you with guaranteed rooms, please let us know once you get your cabin number. Those that choose to upgrade at the port, call my cabin so that I can get the info to your SM.

5. The cutoff for participation is 10/20. That will give us time to make the connections and let everyone know who their SM is by the end of October.

6. The "reveal" will take place at our group lunch in Lumiere's on Thursday. If you can't attend, please let your SM know who you were.

Well, I think that covers it. Any questions - please let me know. I can't wait!

I'm sad to say that we won't be going to CC twice with you guys....we had to change our cruise so that we could still afford to go. We bumped to 5/30/09 and saved $1500. I'm hoping to be able to rebook for a future double dip but am just so happy that we can still go on a Disney cruise. Thanks again for all the kind words and pixie dust- have a great cruise!
