Hey there, hi there, ho there everyone! Finally I have a chance to get back on the cruise thread. Oh, man... you wouldn't believe how busy my life has been lately.
First off, last weekend there was the Young Marines camping trip. Oh, sorry... they call it an "encampment". And they were working on the Qualified Field Skills ribbon.... which is just the fancy military way of saying the camping merit badge, er, uh, ribbon. And guess who volunteered to organize the trip and teach the material for the ribbon. Yup... you guessed it. When am I going to learn to say no? But who else is going to be as qualified as someone that's been in Boy Scouting for something like 7 years now? So I had to.
And we've got another encampment next weekend to finish up the ribbon. So I have to get prepared for that.
And I'm helping out at Cub Scout University today so I have to drive up to Bainbridge (about an hour away) so I have to go get in the shower in just a bit.
When am I going to learn to say no? I think when I get home tonight I'm definitely going to need a few drinks of the day.
And that's not even the biggest news.... I resigned from my job this week!!!!! I've been wanting to quit for a long time. I won't get into all the details (because who knows how information may get forwarded on the internet) but let's just suffice it to say that the way the boss ran the company is diametrically opposed to the way I think it should be run. So, since it's his company and one of us had to go, I'm going. I'm going to do the contracting thing for a while and see how that goes. Got some good leads already on contracts. Hope it pans out. Of course, I'm also eyeing the Orlando job market. If the right job comes along I wouldn't be adverse to the idea of moving to Orlando. I know you know what I mean?
So.... let me get caught up.......
rollerblades for $100. He wanted to give them away

- I said NO WAY - that could buy quite a few DODs!!
Is your hubby nuts?!?!?

Glad you set him right straight!!!!
Has anyone calculated what day the "105 days out" fall on?
My math's not so gooder

(and I'm lazy)
I particularly like your English!
Whoo Hoo, we're coming, too.

So, what'd I miss?
Great to have you in the group. Send me a PM with your email addy and I'll hook you up with the spreadsheet on which a lot of info is being kept and the "private" boards. (private in quotes because it's not really secure other than I'm careful with who I give the URL out to).
I saw further down what you were saying about not knowing what your teenager is going to feel like doing other than being away from mom and dad. I've got two boys (15 and 13) that are going so maybe they'll enjoy hanging out together.
We marked August 1st on our calendar!! Is someone in charge of the Fish Exchange?
I don't think anyone's actually in charge of it, but I'd have to look at my document to be sure and I've got to go get in the shower in just a minute. But I know the spreadsheet includes who'all's participating in the FE so that should help.
That's too funny - I was just lying on my couch reading the 2008 Passporter and thinking should I get the new one?!?!?
Save the money for the DODs.... the info doesn't change that much from year to year.
I ordered our FE yesterday and am having it customized. I'll post a pic when it arrives. Since this is our first Disney cruise and I have no clue about FE gifts, can the more experienced cruisers give me some suggestions?
Last year we gave out pirate themed stuff we got from Oriental Trading. We gave out pencils and little pads of paper and yo yos and mini beach balls. Basically, it's just small stuff... kind of like what you'd put in a goody bag at a kids birthday party. Of course, some people do more than that but that's the kind of thing I do.
Hi Everyone..... I just wanted to come and let you guys know that the Tink family has decided to cancel this cruise.
Oh noooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally understood though. Gotta do what's right for the kids education.
That's definitely one of the reasons I'm so glad my kids are (and DS13 will be next year) home schooled. Now I just got to come up with some educational stuff for them to do on board. Actually, I think they're going to have to work on a journal every morning before they can leave the room. That'll be a good start. Should be a lot of fun reading what they right about the dolphin encounter (DS13) and the zipline (DS15).
I just told a friend and her reply was "Who cares. You have been on how many of these cruises. Just move it."

She does not understand...
We have to forgive the mundanes for they know not what they say, right?

Okay, I guess that's about it for now. Really have to go get in the shower after I check my PMs on here.
Only 202 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And now let me leave you with something I found on
YouTube this morning... just a little bit of fun in anticipation of the real thing.
