11/13/04 Eastern Cruise only We Did It

Of course, now the US dollar is costing even less Canadian so I could have saved some money by putting it on my credit card now!

Get this! I decided to phone. The address I was given to mail in my payment was the address for couriers, not regular mail. There is a P.O. Box for regular mail and apparently the USPS won't deliver to their building (the one that they gave me the address for!). So my payment is somewhere floating around in one of the postal systems (either the US or the Canadian).

I think I'm going to have to put the payment on my credit card (which will max it out) and then get the money order I sent cancelled.

Not a happy cruiser right now.

Thanks. I think I should complain and tell them they could make it up to me by giving me my choice of dining rotation!

please try to remember that the hurricane slowed or stopped mail in central florida for a few days. and just maybe its being held up at canada post office. anyways the 11/13 cruise you have til sept 14 so keep on the phone with DCL daily. best wishing for you

I absolutely had taken both of these things into consideration. In fact, the first thing I asked was if Charley had possibly slowed down processing of payments. The rep at DCL today told me I had been given the wrong address for using regular mail. I had been given the courier address. He told me he always asks how the person is sending their payment and provides them with the correct address. The girl I originally spoke to did not ask. I guess she assumed I was sending it courier....which I would never do as it would defeat the whole purpose of sending a cheque (saving money over charging on my credit card).

I hung up thinking that maybe it would still get there. I called back and the girl I spoke to said it would not get there. She said she often sees them where they have been returned from the Celebration address and then the people have to resend them to the Lake Buena Vista address. She said she had no idea why the USPS wouldn't deliver to their building and would only deliver to the post office box.

Crossing my fingers the US rate is even better tomorrow and that I have enough room on my credit card to put the payment on (it's close!!).

P.S. I won't do this as much as I would like to choose my rotation.

People make mistakes. I just think that I'm going to write a letter so that they can maybe ask the people on the phones to be more careful. The fact that the one person said she had seen so many sent my regular mail that were rejected makes me think that this happens more than it should. Surprising given that I'm sure most people put it on their credit card.

I would feel a lot better about the whole thing if I knew how long it was going to take to get the money back from the bank. The process has changed since I left that part of the bank.

13 weeks from today???....CASTAWAY CAY!!!pirate: :cheer2:

I'm still waiting for a "steal" on snorkel equipment prices; let me know if you come across anything good!

Tara...what a hassle! I hope something magical happens to straighten this mess out as quickly and painlessly as possible!:wizard: (and, I hope you do get your rotation!!!!)

12 weeks today I'll be hopping the parks (I'm going to try to convince my mom to do all but the Studios in one day!).

Has anyone sailed in November before? I'm wondering how cold it gets on deck at night. I hadn't even thought about it and my mom started talking about looking for a nice sweater to bring. She sailed Europe and the west coast of Africa. I have only sailed the Mexican Riviera and for the life of me can't remember if it was cold on deck at night. I can't even remember if I went out on deck past sunset. I know it was cold on deck one day when we had foggy rainy weather on an at-sea day.

I still can't decide if I'm going to bring my own. I really should do what you are doing and look for a good deal on new stuff...at least smaller fins. I have massive fins from when I first started SCUBA diving. Plus I have to wear them with boots which is fine in cold water but lame in warm water. Hmmm...maybe I can find a good deal on those full foot fins. I guess I'm adding one more thing to my shopping list!

Boy... I miss a few days and you guys are posting crazy again!!! Jen, I was just talking to Kim about the final payment and she was going to call everyone that hasn't made their final payment yet. Final payment is due 60 days before cruise so 9/14/04 is when it is due. It was suggested that we pay about a week earlier just in case (sometimes credit card issues bank issues and so on) and maybe it will help our papers arrive early (wishful thinking, I guess). We can also book our excursions 60 days out too. I believe our co-ordinator will take care of that but I haven't spoken with her yet. She was just assigned today. I haven't been able to chat lately, been too busy with all these kids!!! I have my brother's kids while they are in Vegas. Boy, what a handful! Jen - if you need anything let me know and I will get in touch with Kim (we are going to a baseball game tonight sponsored by her office). Wish me luck, they are giving away a free cruise!!!

Chat later!!!

Sure!! Bring em on over!! What is the difference between 4 and 7??

I sailed on the Magic in November 2001. It was fairly chilly at the sailaway, but the rest of the trip I was fine. If you are cold sensitive (like my dh is), then you should bring a sweater for walking the decks at night. It was very (very!) warm at all the ports, especially St. Maarten.

The seas were a bit rougher in November. In August, last year, the sea was like glass the whole trip. In '01 we had some waves, so plan on bringing something for seasickness. My sister and I are prone to seasickness, so I brought scopolomine patches on that trip, and they did the trick. I plan to bring it this time too. Last year I bought these "zapper" wrist bands, and they worked very well for the 10 minutes I was seasick. (the first night)

Also on that November trip, we did not get in to Castaway Cay. The seas were too rough. There were some disappointed folks, but most of us understood, and the crew did some fine entertainment for us that day.

On the August trip, we were able to dock at Castaway Cay, :Pinkbounc but it rained on and off during the afternoon (very tropical :D ) Of course that didn't bother us at all, but there was a lady in front of my dh, at customer service, demanding her cruise money back because it rained on Castaway Cay.:earseek:  It takes all kinds I guess (sigh).

Thanks for the info. I'm not that sensitive to cold, being from Canada and all. My mom has spent at least 5 months in Africa each year for the past four years so she's not as used to cold as I am!

I do suffer from motion sickness but even on the rough days of my only cruise I was okay (but I did take medication and ginger tablets). The wristbands don't really work for me (my worst motion sickness is in taxi cabs and rental cars).

Okay, demanding your money back because of weather is ridiculous. However, I really hope we don't have the problem docking at Castaway Cay. That would be really disappointing for me. I would rather skip one of the other ports...if I had to and got a choice! Anyone have any idea how often they have to skip CC?

Welcome aboard CorieDorie:bounce: :Pinkbounc

We are a great bunch and I feel like I know everybody too. Can't wait to meet in person.

Well we booked our character breakfast for our WDW portion of the trip. Donald's Breakfasaures at Animal Kingdom. Wanted to do Cinderella's Royal Table but it was already booked solid.

Oh well. hopefully the WDW breakfast won't be as rushed as the one onboard.

I am packing jackets for both girls, DD8 is always cold. At our first night dinner last cruise we have a pic of her covered up with our napkins, she was so cold.

John and I will, of course, have our custom made DCL jackets with us, just in case.
