11/13/04 Eastern Cruise only We Did It

Hi Cruiseman and PoohFreak! My DS Josh will be 12 at the end of October; he'd love to email you both and talk w/other going on the cruise. Have your moms PM me and I'll send the email address!

13 weeks??!!! I like the sound of that, Sarah! but then again, yikes!!! So much to plan, so much to pack, so much trivia to brush up on!!!

I have a business trip to Miami next week; think the boss would mind if we had a stop over in Orlando.... (seems like a sin to go all that way and not stop to see Mickey!) ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo :earsgirl: :earsboy:

That's how I feel. My dad asked what we were doing before the cruise and I said "there's this little place in the middle of Florida" at which point he rolled his eyes and said "you were just there in September". I said "I'm not going to go to Florida and NOT go to Disney...besides we have passes left!". We're only go one day, which is a foreign concept in and of itself to me!

I did the same thing with my Royal Caribbean cruise in March....tacked on three days at Disneyland. Oh and when I went to Africa the first time, I was going to fly through London and then the timing worked out that I was going to have more time than I wanted to spend in London so I went to Paris first (you can guess where I went in Paris, I'm sure). Now if I could just have a stopover in Tokyo!

Just got back a while ago from Rachel's school orientation.

We got the approval of both her teacher and the school principle for her to miss 2 weeks of school.

I have been really worried that it would be a problem, or the board of education would have me thrown in jail.

But the principle even has a WDW trip planned for the fall break in October.

We are going to have Rachel complete a trip journal that we found at MouseForLess, and the principle said that she would need to have perfect attendance the rest of the year, unless she was really sick, but other than that they said it would be ok. The principle even mentioned that it would be an educational trip.

So my mind is now at ease:Pinkbounc :bounce:

The principle did also ask that I put our plans in writing and send it to her around mid October, to remind her.

Great news, Susan! I'm going to have DH add a link to that site on our 11/13 cruise list.

Had to give this a bump, we were way too low on the thread list.:D

Is there a smilie around here for "DROOL"....

Thanks Pat! (now how am I going to get any work done this a.m.?...)pirate:

Jen, just noticed our counters....I think we are going to arrive at the ship at the exact same time!
Don't work tooooo hard :jester: !

LOL Pat! actually, my counter is slightly off...I will be at the Port at exactly 10:30 a.m.!!!!

(d'ya think they'll let me sleep in the parking lot the night before...?)

That's my goal too! I think my counter is set for sail-away time....even then it might be off. I can't be bothered to fix it now!

As for the pirate: menu, I'm psyched for the crab cakes and the chocolate cake. If I skip the main course, can I have two desserts?? (I know I can technically have the main course AND two desserts but that will not help my goal of not gaining weight on this cruise!)

I'm starting to really worry about my final payment. I mailed it on August 5th or 6th (I don't know why I can't remember which for sure) and it is still not posted. I know I live in Canada but it's not THAT far! Does anyone know if Charley messed up the postal service? Or maybe the Cash Operations department is short-staffed due to people being homeless, etc.?

It's too early to have the bank trace the money order plus I honestly believe if Disney cashed it, then it would be posted to my cruise account.

Someone please make me feel better! I need something else to think about to take my mind off it. Oh, I'm at work now. That should take it off (but since I'm on here, it obviously doesn't!!).

I'd go ahead and call them Tara, just for peace of mind. (btw, did you book thru DCL or a TA or....?) Am I right to assume my TA will tell me when she wants the rest of my $$$?

As for Pirates, I'm definitely going for the bananas treasure and the white chocolate cheesecake (and will force one of my kids to order the chocolate cake, in addition to their Mickey bars!) So, can't help you on the calorie thing...since i'll definitely be eating more than usual and much richer food than usual, i'm resigned to adding weight that week. (unless i hit mickey's stair master....on second thought...nah).

Congratulations on your continued weight loss success, Tara!!! May I ask if you've also incorporated some sort of exercise? I'm at the point that if I don't get off my butt and do some REGULAR exercising, I will not see any real dieting results. funny how everyday a new excuse pops up to keep me from "exercising" my best intentions!:rolleyes1

Here I am guys! Whew! Well, after my surgery (in which recovery was horrid!) and then having my computer crash (DH SWEARS it was AIM that did it - hmmmm), having a new hard drive installed, etc. - I'm back on-line. I probably won't try to install AIM, but I'll be here on this thread (and the DIS boards) several times a day!! PoohJen - my 2 DS's started coming on here now and are looking forward to e-mailing anyone going on our cruise, so I'll PM you with their addresses. Anyone else? They are 10 and 12. And no, John, they're not allowed to play with you......:p OMG - we're getting sooooo close! :bounce:

I booked through DCL. I'm going to wait until Friday... a full two weeks. At that point, I'll give them a call.

I don't really exercise. I started walking in July but we have had horrible weather and then I got caught up in our basement refinishing and now it's the Olympics...you get the pattern. ;) Last night, I started doing weights for my arms as I have lost weight so now have the flab to deal with! I really should rejoin the gym but I have no money between the cruise, another two trips and having to buy new clothes every six weeks or so!!

I do plan to use the treadmill on the ship and do walks around the deck but we'll see what happens. On my RCCL cruise, I used the treadmill once I believe and did a few walk-a-miles around the ship. I might make a deal with myself that for every portion of dessert I eat, I have to do 30 minutes on the treadmill.

I'm available for ship walking!!!::yes::

Welcome back, Dawn! Hey, what kind of firewall did/do you have on your computer? I have what I believe to be a good virus/firewall subscription, but i'm always paranoid about damaging my home computer. My friend has annual catastrophes, but that is thanks to two teenage sons (ie, music downloading/file sharing). Jeanna, oh computer whiz, can you put my mind at ease???!!!:worship:

Legal disclaimer: I will not hold Jeanna responsible for any advice/opinion she may have on the subject of computers, nor for any damages I may suffer if it rains on my cruise, despite her being my TA-by-proxy.

:p Jen, you are too funny!

Dawn! Welcome back, and ditto what Sarah said. I'm so sorry you had a horrible recovery. :( The cruise will make it all better. :D

Tara, sending you some pixie dust :wizard: for everything to turn out ok for you. Let us know as soon as you find out anything.

Thanks, I will. I was hopeful this morning as the site was down for maintenance (not that they need to take the site down to post my payment but maybe that they had discovered some problem that payments weren't showing) but checked after and it still isn't showing.

Of course, now the US dollar is costing even less Canadian so I could have saved some money by putting it on my credit card now!
