11/06/11 Dream 4 Day

I booked my air. I did a big no no and booked the 12:10 return, but I hope that SWA by then has a contract with Bags to allow for direct to ship delivery of luggage, If not I will most likely keep my bag and leave the ship early. I will miss breakfast, but that is not a big deal to me. I will add the EB to my return ticket, too,

I booked our flights with early bird check in for 12:10PM return so I hope we make it on time. Normally we have late afternoon flights, but it was too pricey.

Can we use DCL transfers to the airport for a 12:10PM flight or is this too early? I'm trying to decide whether to keep my rental car at budget or use a limo service or DCL transfer.

I think we will be fine, I usually take a 2pm or later flight and get to MCO by 10 am. Too early to worry about it right now. I imagine we are on the some flight NS to PHX?

Yes, it does look like we're on the same flight. Do you normally use the DCL transfers or some other method to get from the port to MCO?

DCL transfers, for me, it is the cheapest way, since it's just me. And so far it has been fine, got to MCO with no trouble.

I orginally was going to use Budget for the 4 of us, but now I'm not sure I want to mess with car to pick up and return. I've used Southern Elegance for a large group in the past with great service so I might just go that route again since we'll have to take care of our luggage anyway. Oh well I've got plenty of time to decide.

Didn't book airfare yet, little sis wants to wait for payday, so we'll do it this weekend. I suppose I could book mine as I don't think flights would sell out in a few days :lmao:!

Looks like we will do stinky US Air on the way over to get the non-stop that gets in at 4PM and use SW on the way home. Decided the $75ish more US will cost (including luggage fee) is worth the non-stop flight and arriving at 4PM so we can make it to dinner with the neices/great neices. I find as I age I'm willing to shell out a little extra to reduce hassle!

Will have to coordinate group transport also once I know when everyone is arriving.

.

Check out Executive VIP Limo (it's on Shirley's helpful hints thread). Ian just booked it and got a GREAT rate and speedy response!

I've used Sourthern Elegance, Tiffany Towncar and Happy Limo, all were just fine, so go with whoever has the vehicle size you need and the best rate.

And what about your big sister? Enquiring minds want to know (since they're responsible for delivering her)

Yes I did. There's now no point for me to rent a car.

especially since someone you know (hmmmm....who??? :lmao:) will have some sort of vehicle with her, in case anyone needs to do a store run. :goodvibes

I figure I'm coming out to Port Canaveral to play with my friends & see you off IF I end up needing to cancel the cruise.

Big sister booked her flights today, so the Chicago contingent is all set! (Well, except for getting from PC to MCO, but that will be arranged shortly.)

Cheri sent me an email about her flights.....can you let her know what you guys have decided for the flight home??? :goodvibes

I booked our transfers from MCO to our hotels on 11/5. I ended up going with VIP Executive, it was $79 for the three of us. I'm very happy about not having to schlepp the luggage (and Jackie's sister) to the parking structure, not having to navigate to the port and not having a big hunk of metal with 4-wheels to dispose of at the other end.

VIP Executive is coming out to only $9 more than the rental car I had booked with Hertz (with the AARP discount). I had originally booked Hertz because are next door to our hotels in Cape Canaveral.

The other companies might have been cheaper but I didn't check them out. Most of the car rental locations are only open until 4pm on Saturdays. There was no way I was going to try to get a car back by 8AM Sunday morning a half or a mile away and then schlepp back to the hotel.

(Can you tell that I'm not a big fan of schlepping?)

So, now we're all set! I can get back to more important things like assembling our ensembles for Remy's.

Hi, DH and I are driving, can we park at the terminal ? If so how much?
Is everyone coming in on the 5th? Where are you all staying? If it's a party, maybe we'll come down the night before.

I'm with family at the Residence Inn and Monica is 'next door' at the Country Inn & Suites with assorted playmates. Come down a day early and join us...plus the CI&S has a stay and park deal where you can leave your car there for the cruise. Monica will have details. (I think the per day cost to park at the port is about $18 now...but not sure.)

Yes, both Country Inn and Residence Inn have park and cruise packages. I think both save money over parking at the port.

Country Inn & Suites starts at $139 for their cruise package and includes shuttle to ship and back, and parking for the duration. It also include breakfast (but I think all their rates include this).

Residence Inn & Suites starts at $169 for their cruise package for a 1 Bedroom Suite, 1 King, Shuttle To and From Port passes, self parking, and breakfast (which I think they include for all of their room rates too.)

I hope this helps.

Breakfast is included at both hotels, no matter what the rate is.

When I stayed at the CI&S last....I was able to add the parking to what ever rate I confirmed for $20.00 for 7 days.
