11/04/06 Anyone Out There Yet?

Its quickly approaching and I feel like I have so much to do and everyone seems very organized....

:cloud9:

Allow me to put you at ease...

1. I have no documents
2. I haven't finished shopping
3. I don't know what I'm wearing for formal night
4. DH and I don't have anything to wear for pirate night
5. I haven't started my door signs
6. My DS might wear sneakers for formal night
7. My DD might wear sparkly flip flops on formal night
8. I still haven't decided on what we're doing at Key West or Grand Cayman
9. I haven't made definite reservations for transportation to the airports
10. I still don't know what to do with our 5 month old puppy
11. I haven't filled out all those online forms at the DCL website (I have 2 out of the 5 of us done).

Feel better yet? AAAAAHHHHHHHH

Right there with you Linda. Your post was too funny. I'll add the following:

1. No docs

2. We haven't shopped for anything on our 10 page DIS list of things to bring on a Disney Cruise

3. We haven't yet checked to see if the 3 kids fit into the clothes they wore to a wedding 13 months ago for Formal Night. Right now, dinner in the Clubs for the kids and room service or Topsiders for us are high on the Formal Night agenda.

4. I didn't get any on-line reservations I wanted for Palo or the Spa.

5. Our one booked excursion to Stingray City has everyone in our party anxious in light of recent events. No other excursions booked, but we keep talking about booking something eventually.

6. Need to rent an electric scooter for my stepdad.

7. I haven't filled out any on-line forms and don't even know where to start looking for 5 birth certificates.

8. No plans in place as to how I'm getting to the airport and haven't decided yet how I'm getting to Port Canaveral.

9. Door signs?!? I'm thinking about begging other DISers to help me there.

10. We're having 85 people over for a Halloween Party in 6 days that we need to prepare for before I get to any of the aforementioned items.

And, if the Mets make the World Series, I'll lose at least 4 and possibly 7 nights over the next ten days.

If it doesn't all get done, we'll be the family you'll be reading about in the trip reports for our cruise that showed up in the dining room every night in bathing suits and tank tops.

JC Penny has a sale on tuxes right now. Full tux; jacket, coat, shirt, tie, suspenders or cumberbun, cufflinks.

$135.

Jason,

I am the new kid on the block but I feel your pain! I have cruised before and I would take those lists with a grain of salt as a lot of the items are "may be nice if you were at home but you probably can do without" :upsidedow

We have a trip to Stingray City planned in GC, not with DCL, and I am a little nervous!:scared:

I think when I read this thread before it was you that had children about the same age as mine, a DD(6) princess: going on 16 and a DS(9) :cool2: who is constantly aggravated by her......can't wait to have something to distract them from each other before I go crazy

Another tip for those looking to dress their kids for formal night. For those of you in NJ, Syms has boys' tuxes (up to a size 22 - one fit my DS15) for $59.99. The shirt/tie was $12.99. We decided we couldn't beat that, so they're set to be all dressed up. Ironically, my DS15 loves the shiny patent leather shoes I picked up for him - said they are cool. This kid wears nothing but swishy sports pants and t-shirts, with no mind to whether they match or have been ironed. So, how shoes that I - his mother! - picked out ended up "cool," I'll never know!

You guys crack me up! :rotfl:

1. Kids were making kids signs last 2 nights (we're making for 2 doors ..Dad's and ours...so that's a total of 14 signs....yes we're changing them each day this year). I can't believe they found a way to fight out of this event! I was ready to throw the door making project right out the door!

2. Kids decided to pack their own things. Not very good for an anal obsessive, iron neurotic, compulsive, mom who must be in control of packing. 7 year old son put clothes in zip loc baggies and proceeded to write in marker exactly what was in the bag. Gee..can't you see through the clear bag??? Now the bags, which haven't been inspected by that earlier mentioned mother, are thrown about the guest room.

3. No documents have arrived to this house...unless my extremely jealous friend, who lives next to me, stole them in attempt to get on the cruise herself.

4. Thank god we're Yankee fans...we won't be missing any more sleep!

5. Throwing a jewelry party for 50 some odd people tomorrow night

6. Organizing 2 pumpkin carving nights next week at the kids' schools totaling 400 people.

7. Have to make son's halloween costume.

8. Have to dig out the pirate costumes and hope they all fit. pirate:

9. Have to bring hubby's evening clothes to the cleaners for pressing so they're reading to just be thrown in the suitcases.

ORGANIZED??? Not nearly!!!! (only thing really done are my online forms are filled out....whoopie!!!

Linda, Teresa & MJ -- are you folks still staying at the Residence Inn the night before we cruise?

Anyone else out there going to be at the Residence Inn?

Yes, we'll be at the Residence Inn but not until about 6:30-7:00. JetBlue keeps moving our flight back so now we've lost some time. I should have booked an earlier flight and not have been so concerned with the kids going to school that morning.

I'm thinking about grabbing some fast food in the car so that they can have time to swim before bedtime. But of course I keep thinking back to your trip report...the 3 of them sitting right next to each other in a "full-size" rental won't be pleasant and now I'm thinking of adding food and drink?!?!

Feeling better now THANKS!!! LOL

We are arriving on Fri at 9pm so we are staying local in Orlando and taking Disney Transportation in the morning...

I am going to try and start packing this weekend !

Hi, I'm Ken (Love2Travel's) DH, yes we will be at the Residence Inn, However our flight is earlier, we should be in room about 3:00pm. But I'm sure the "boss" will be on here later to confirm the details :thumbsup2

We are also staying at the Residence Inn arriving by 3:00pm. Originally we were going to Orlando to stay at a Disney property but changed our minds.

If anyone is up for a precruise meet at the Residence Inn Friday...you can count us in.

Hi Michael,

Steph will be very happy to hear you guys will be at the same hotel now. We will definitely have to set up a Residence Inn meet...if everyone can wait for us to get there!!

Does anyone know the actual time that we are in Grand Cayman & Cozumel? Everywhere I have looked has a different time and I can't seem to figure out the right one! I remember last year, the times seemed to change even once we were on the ship! Also, there are time changes, too, so do you know if the times are local or ship time? I'm trying to book some excursions and I want to make sure I have the times correct. Thanks! :)

What time does everyone usually head to the port? I remember last year, I thought we got there early enough, but we were already in group 7 by the time we got in.

I just read on another thread, someone that was on 10/7-10/14 Western, said that Pirate night was on Tuesday, Grand Cayman day.
Something about they couldn't do fireworks while docked in Cozumel since the ship doesn't leave Cozumel until way late in the evening and can't do fireworks while the ship is docked.

I wonder if this will be the same way on our cruise????? :confused3

We will certainly wait, it will give the beer a chance to chill down.

Thank you!! I was in going to Cherry Hill today and saw your post and stopped in Syms. It's a decent tux for a boy a $59.00. Now I have to get the thing altered quickly.. and I thought I was all done with packing clothes.

Two weeks from today we'll be around the pool at RonJons. I can't wait!
