10th birthday

You tell them that this is a once in a lifetime thing, kids are capable of understanding and accepting that.

Yeah, that might work. If I was predisposed to spending that much on a child's birthday party. I just don't happen to be, especially with 3 kids. But everyone is different.

And I still would not take the chance on being that far away from home if one got homesick.

The are playing at SPAC this summer, lawn seats are usually around $20 but not sure if they are more for certain bands.
do you know if you can buy lawn seats the day of the concert

I bought Jingle Ball tickets for DD14 and 3 friends as a Christmas gift to all of them. Didn't want to spend a lot on tickets since there were 4 of them so I went for upper level.
Another mom and I drove them in and went to dinner while they were at the show. We had just sat down to dinner when both of our phones rang. It was the girls, crying because they had just gotten upgraded to front row seats by the radio station sponsoring the concert. It was the experience of a lifetime.

5sos was there and DD said they were amazing.

Just say no. It's way more than you said you planned on spending AND there's the out-of-state issue AND your worries about them all changing their minds. Be the parent and say, "No, honey, that's not going to work and it's just too much. Let's think of something else to do."

Agree completely! Just say 'no'!! 'Be' the mom - you know best! If it's hard now, what will the teen years bring?? They can't/shouldn't have everything they want.
You would do yourself and your dd no favors by starting this type precedent at 10 years of age!

we had a long talk tonight and I told her that it's not going to work and that she can have a sleepover and I would buy the 1d concert dvd and they can watch that and pretend they are at the concert I am planning to buy glow stuff for them as well

I had that issue last year with the sleepover for her 9th birthday two girls went home in the middle of the night because they were homesick

Sounds like a great party. :)

After having that happen at one of my daughter's parties, I broke into a cold sweat thinking of how awful that would be if mom and dad were several hours away and I was the only one there to comfort my daughter's friend. :faint:

That sounds like a great birthday party for a ten year old. Am sure they will have lots of fun - and should be mostly stress free for you! Win - win!! :goodvibes

how are you girls doing with the news of one of the member's leaving the band my daughter is doing ok

I would NOT let parents take my 10 year old out of state
The youngest I allowed that was 15-to beach for week with a friends family

way wayyyy too expensive IMO
