Its been a while since i have done any exchange besides the pin exchange, and i have found out that flat rate is not always cheaper. However i know the worker real well and she weighed everything and told me to use a regular priority box.

Depends on how heavy it is and where it is going.
For me, flat rate is usually best because it goes so far..........and I do tend to try to pack them full

I like the flat rate because I don't have to stand in line at the post office. My grocery store has a post office center but it now charges $2.00 per package mailing fee. So, I do it online and drop off at the store.
